[ there's a young woman dressed in what looks like some kind of uniform, hair tied into two buns behind her head. She's muttering to herself -- but she has already started the feed, perhaps before she's ready. ]

Alright, Tico, here goes nothing -- 

[ Her face falls slightly ] 

Oh, it's already recording. Can I start again? 

[ No? Well, this is kind of awkward. ] 

Hi, I'm Rose. Tico. Rose Tico. I've been here a few days now and just wanted to introduce myself. So I am. Hi. 

So I was thinking of taking up some work while I was here. I'm a mechanic -- I spent a lot of time working on star ships, things of that nature. But I'm good at fixing other things, too. Payment can be discussed once the job is done.

[ With an awkward wave and a smile, she cuts the feed. ]

[ Rey laughs, shaking her head. ]

What sort of power sources are generally used? Getting sufficient lift to break out of the atmosphere is no small task, I've done the calculations... and also, what sort of range of travel is possible? Short jaunts to adjacent satellites? Further still?

[ when Rey would happen by, the door to her place would be partially open, and music would be drifting quietly from the space. "Come in", she calls out, when she hears knocking. ]

[ Rey's a little more put together when she arrives at Rose's, and has a little droid in tow beeping curiously. Pushing Rose's door open Rey brightens when she spies the mechanic. ]

Hey, Rose! I don't think you've met my friend, D-0.

[doingtalking]

Hey, Rey. [ She beams, and her eyes widen with delight at the sight of the droid at her side. The mechanic kneels, closer to the droid's level, grinning still. She's never seen one of this make before, so she studies the design carefully. ]

D-0, huh? No, I don't believe we have. It's nice to meet you -- I'm Rose.

[ To Rey; ]

Where did you find him?

[ D-0 doesn't seem uncomfortable by Rose's presence and with a mixture of beeps and broken Basic he says "I-i-i know R-r-r-rose." Rey raises her eyebrows. ]

Oh, I guess he met you when he was with Finn and Poe. We found him on a wrecked ship, abandoned. He was with me when I woke up back here. That thing I told you might happen when we first met here? It happened.

That kind of depends on the ship. Starfighter, like an x-wing? That's the main fighter we use... powered by twin ion drives.

As for range of travel, jumps through hyperspace can take you across the galaxy if you calculate it properly. 'Course, you can also wind up crashing through the atmosphere a distant planet or another ship, if you're not careful.

That won't do. [ Maybe it's because the Resistance requires so many spare parts, she just finds that wasteful! ]

If you want to bring it by in a little bit I could have a look. Or I could go over to you.

I live out in the Groves, so I guess I better come to you- I don't want to make you come out all this way to do me a favor...

I'm sure I'll catch up with you soon. [ She smiles again at the little droid; and then her gaze flickers to Rey with understanding. ]

You mean you left and came back. So you do know me, now! [ That's about all she's gonna say before Rose is launching herself at Rey for a hug. Dang it, at least she hopes she remembers now, else this is going to be awkward... ] You do, right?

To my place. I'm still working on finding tools, won't be too much longer - !

[ attached, will be the location of where she's currently living. ]

[ Rey's face breaks into a smile as Rose comes at her and she's happy to catch her, hugging her back fiercely. ]

Yes, I do know you. I'm sorry I didn't. There's a lot more I would have kept you in the loop on if I had.

[ Relief passes over Rose, as the realization that she has her friend now, because it had been odd before. With her not remembering. After another moment, she pulls away slightly. ]

Hey, it couldn't really be helped, but I'm glad we're on the same page now. Though it sounds like you might know some things I don't yet.

[ Rey's smile fades a little, nodding her head. ]

You said that Mon Cala was the last thing you remembered, right? It's been almost a year since then, for me.

[doingtalking]

A year --? [ Her eyes widen a little as she stares at Rey, wow. ]

Guess I'm the one who needs to be caught up on things, now. D'you want something to drink, you can fill me in on everything.

Oh- There it is, thanks!

Before I go... are there stairs?

You don't have anything alcoholic, do you? You may need it.

[ She'd had this conversation with Finn already, but she had a feeling some things might be a harder sell with Rose than they were with Finn. He'd been a stormtrooper, so he'd been on that wrong side of the war. Rose never had. ]

[ Rose can't help the look of worry that crosses her face. ]

That... that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. But I think I have just the thing. [ She, fortunately had done a bit of shopping for food and the like the day before and had even picked up a bottle of something that had come recommended by one of the people who worked at the shop.

She jumps up and pads into the kitchenette, pulling out two glasses and the bottle of wine. ]

How bad was it? [ Having completely misconstrued Rey's words into letting herself believe that maybe more foul harm had come to their people. That'd be why she'd warned her, right? ]

[ Rey realizes that Rose thinks she might have bad news, and while she does, it may not be the news Rose expects. Shaking her head she settles in to sit. ]

It's probably not what you think. We won.

[ Rose moves to sit across from her, passing her the second glass. The bottle is left on the table. Just in case. Her face breaks out in a smile. ] We won...

[ She stares at Rey for a moment, and then she's clutching the medallion worn around her neck, head bowed slightly. We did it, Paige.

And then she's staring up at Rey, leaning forward slightly. Intently. ]

Tell me everything.

Starfighters, even? [Well that adds some interesting context to it all. Not just transports, but weapons. How exciting!]

What a fantastic way to go about it! I'm sure the concern is less about fuel consumed and more about not dying of old age in the process of getting where you're going, but surely there are efficiencies involved?

[The talk of hyperspace-related disaster just seems to thrill him all the more.]

Such risks! I'd presume you've devices capable of the necessary calculations, as well, given the rest of that... ahh, all of this, it's theoretical at best, where I'm from. If not entirely inconceivable. Forgive my excitement!
