[Cassim's been here for a few months, and in that time he has learned something.

Technology sucks and he needs to learn it. So he's...using technology to ask about technology, look it's not ideal. This is why he needs help.]

I know I can't be the only person who still doesn't get half of the "modern technology" this place has. [And boy, does he sound annoyed by this.] I know there's that academy here, but they seem to expect you to have a basic understanding of this stuff and don't seem to know how to handle someone whose world has pulleys and nothing fancier.

[Magic items don't count here.]

Learnin' how to use all this crap as I go isn't working out. Anyone have any, I dunno, books or something? Advice from other people in this situation?

Even if the mechanisms by which they operate are different, I found it helpful to think of them as just like another type of magic tool. Though... I suppose Magnostadt was the only nation where those were commonplace, so...

Are there any items or functions that are giving you particular trouble? You seem to have figured out posting and responding just fine, after all!

I have gone to the library for research several times and... ah, when in doubt I ask those around me for help. Mostly it seems to be a lot of button pressing involved with everything.

Only because this place is so damn big no one does gossip the usual way.

And pretty much everything outside this, the door locks, and I think I've figured out the microwave. Everything else it's a shot in the dark if I make it work right.

Books're only useful if you understand what the hell they're talking about or there's pictures explaining it. Does the library even have books for people in this situation?

I found a microwave instruction manual one time... it was useful. Though if you want books in general that would make it more difficult.

Maybe if you write a list of questions?

Unfortunately, everything in this place is "technology". They have technology for lighting a cigar. Instead of just matches.

The microwave is a complicated one. You are doing very well if you can use it, in my opinion!

So, would you say that the general issue is that there are specific things you want to do but can't? Certain functions you know exist but cannot access, and so forth. Or is it more the principle of the thing, where you simply don't want to be surrounded by things you can't use?

You survived the initial culture shock, and you've spent months here immersed in this environment, you can handle more than you think.

Tell me one thing that's giving you trouble.

Right now? That weird so-called "game"that went bad last month.

Appliances and things like that usually come with a manual or instructions, but I don't think I've seen any in the apartments we're given.

[It's possible Cain just tossed them out the window or something given he was here first but. No instructions for the microwave laying around that he knew of.]

Maybe something you could find on the network though, or in the library. If there's something in particular you're curious about I'd be glad to try and help.

Well if you're only reading our posts I might agree. Not the most helpful place usually.

The library might have an app or at least a page of their own where you could look things up from home.
