Technology sucks and he needs to learn it. So he's...using technology to ask about technology, look it's not ideal. This is why he needs help.]

I know I can't be the only person who still doesn't get half of the "modern technology" this place has. [And boy, does he sound annoyed by this.] I know there's that academy here, but they seem to expect you to have a basic understanding of this stuff and don't seem to know how to handle someone whose world has pulleys and nothing fancier.

[Magic items don't count here.]

Learnin' how to use all this crap as I go isn't working out. Anyone have any, I dunno, books or something? Advice from other people in this situation?

I have gone to the library for research several times and... ah, when in doubt I ask those around me for help. Mostly it seems to be a lot of button pressing involved with everything.

Books're only useful if you understand what the hell they're talking about or there's pictures explaining it. Does the library even have books for people in this situation?

I found a microwave instruction manual one time... it was useful. Though if you want books in general that would make it more difficult.

Appliances and things like that usually come with a manual or instructions, but I don't think I've seen any in the apartments we're given.

[It's possible Cain just tossed them out the window or something given he was here first but. No instructions for the microwave laying around that he knew of.]

Maybe something you could find on the network though, or in the library. If there's something in particular you're curious about I'd be glad to try and help.

I'm similarly new to the kind of technology here and I've had some luck with a fair amount of trial and error... But I was also encountering a considerable amount of frustration and did manage to find some pamphlets and books.

[Granted it looks like they were written for someone much younger which was.... A bit embarrassing.]

I managed to find a few relatively... Rudimentary guides in the library, but I was also able to get a little instruction by asking around at the Academy and Lunar Scientia Headquarters.

[Given how asking questions and investigating was more or less part of his job back home he has few reservations about talking to the locals.]

I would say I have had a bit more luck learning as I go, but it's still... hm. I feel as though I have had the best luck asking people who are actually from worlds with "modern technology" to show me how to do things or clarify things for me, really.

At least I don't get easily overwhelmed [just pissed, depending on the moon in the sky)] but you'd think after so many of us showed up they'd have something to help us adjust to all this crap. It doesn't feel right asking random other people for help all the damn time for every little thing.

Hello! I'm not sure if there are books, though anything new should have a user manual you can read to learn how to use it to the barest extent. I certainly won't claim to be an expert on all technology, but I'm happy to help you learn how to use the basics of what I do know - most of the things here seem to be similar to my own world. Most of it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, though sometimes you just need to press what seems like it would make sense and hope for the best. It's usually fine.

[Honestly she had never considered what it was like if you came in from a world with little to no technology. That has to be rough.]
