[Cassim's been here for a few months, and in that time he has learned something.

Technology sucks and he needs to learn it. So he's...using technology to ask about technology, look it's not ideal. This is why he needs help.]

I know I can't be the only person who still doesn't get half of the "modern technology" this place has. [And boy, does he sound annoyed by this.] I know there's that academy here, but they seem to expect you to have a basic understanding of this stuff and don't seem to know how to handle someone whose world has pulleys and nothing fancier.

[Magic items don't count here.]

Learnin' how to use all this crap as I go isn't working out. Anyone have any, I dunno, books or something? Advice from other people in this situation?

Oh- right. I guess it's easy to take for granted when it's so ingrained in every day life. The Prismals know we come from all sorts of different worlds but you're right, there's not really any instruction available is there?

Give me a minute.

[not that... he thinks Cassim is on the edge of his seat waiting for his replies but still!! polite to say something!

and after a few moments some written text messages will follow, screenshots of abel's screen, whatever punny app store they have here and the browser circled, pointed out. along with some basic blah blah click here type in searches here etc notes to help him navigate.

Maybe something to look into, a few of us putting together information to help out newcomers.

[where's the welcome packet, all he got was an info dump speech on the moon while half dead that he's still not entirely convinced wasn't some sort of fever dream.]

[he has felt up your not boyfriend a few times, he's not that great]

At least most of the other people here are friendly, I've learned a lot already just reading through other posts or asking questions.

It can be kind of embarrassing though.

[Abel is also not dating someone.]

That part at least is pretty similar to how it was back home for me, hard to tell what you'll find online. If you're patient enough, sometimes you'll find what you're looking for.

[the familiarity in this conversation is almost hilarious. maybe he should just teach Ali instead and the info can just trickle down.]

Then the library app is probably your best bet, it should only bring up books on whatever subject you're looking to learn about.

A necessary evil unless you find someone willing to explain things on demand.

Maybe there's videos out there too, if that would be easier. I haven't looked much myself but back home at least you could find instructional videos on basically everything.

[is there a way to make a youtube pun name that wouldn't just sound like a prisma porn site i'm not clever enough rn.]

There's not really a lack of options when it comes to the technology here, I'm sure you'll find something that works for you.
