[look at this finely dressed deer in the headlights. this is the face of a man who's clearly trying hard at something. and while he's still new to much of the technology here, that isn't the problem. (even if the typo in his own name might suggest otherwise.)
he looks like he might turn this off after all, and maybe he's regretting that he didn't go with the texted word, but then he takes a breath and pushes forward.]
I would like to address those out there who are fathers. Or anyone who might have experience with raising a child. Sons, especially.
[a long pause...a man with as much pride as jin zixuan surely finds it hard to ask for help. but he reminds himself of his sole reason, and suddenly it all rushes out.]
How does one...form bonds with them? What activities do they enjoy? What should you talk about? Do you try to be their friend?
How do you inquire about their [his expression twists.] chroma?
Any advice would be appreciated.
[please make him father of the year, it would mean so much.]

[Maybe not, since this technology is probably as unheard of in their world as it is in Moran's, and if no one took the time to explain....
Ah well.]
While I am not a father myself, I did raise my nephews for a time. And as for bonding, I think it should try and come naturally. Do not force it. Your situation is not an easy one, so you should simply try and spend time together. Surely you can find some common points through normal conversation, and he is old enough for this not to be a problem.

[it would what, magically only go to fathers? only fathers would respond? he assumed something like that at first, but now the damage has been done.]
His age is not a problem. [zixuan seems to reconsider.] I've missed so much already and time here...I want to know as much as I can as quickly as I can.
[just in case...]

[So yeah, you might want to apologize to your son at some point, Jin ZiXuan.]
That is understandable. And yet I believe this is one of those things where haste will only bring disaster.
[Case in point: this whole post.]
Make your presence known. Ask to see him in person maybe, or message him directly.

[this is his only chance. he's so aware of it, without wanting jin ling to think about it at all.]
But not impossible. I shall contact him, and hope that tomorrow will be better than today.

I am sure this will just become an embarrassing incident you two can laugh about together in time. And it seems others have already offered great suggestions.
My nephews and I used to go swimming in the river, and fishing and hunting in the forests nearby.

[at least they've made a memory...not the greatest, but it's something.]
All things that I'm sure they enjoyed. I hope to get to experience each and every one of the same with Jin Ling. [he hesitates before his next question.] Their father...?
[he trails off, leaving it as open or as closed as moran would prefer.]

[And he did his best, even though he wasn't that much older than they were.]
Unfortunately, I had little time for fishing and hunting trips after that happened.

[for him, for the boys, for the father who died. it all hits close to home, obviously.]
I never appreciated the importance of uncles before coming here. Are any of your nephews here with you, by chance?
no subject
[It's still a sore point with Moran, so he will accept the polite words for what they are, but not elaborate any further. He idolized his older brother and his death was a crushing blow.]
They are not, and I am quite thankful for it. Tang is quite charming and adaptable, but absolutely no one deserves to be subjected to His Majesty and his likely attitude to being stuck here. Hopefully the moons will be merciful.

[it could be something of a running gag, a nickname for a particularly spoiled boy. even more spoiled than jin zixuan had been.]
Your nephew is royalty?
no subject
He is the Emperor of HuangDao.
no subject
[he was just a spoiled sect leader's son and it still felt impossible sometimes.]
Are you doing well here?
no subject
[He adores his nephew, ZiXuan. It's just that the nephew is often a little shit.]
Oh, I'm doing just fine, thank you! You haven't been here very long, have you? I remember meeting your... other self, but not you.
