hello again! i'm considerably less drunk this time around - and i'd like to apologize to everyone for the embarrassing things i said about jiang cheng. if you don't remember it, please don't look it up! keep your mind clean and worry-free!

i do have something of a request, though. i've recently talked with a very wise woman, who has enlightened me about some things i hadn't considered. i may be a servant's son, but that isn't a hurdle for finding happiness! i, wei wuxian, can find love too!

so my request is: marriage gifts. and courting traditions. tell me about them! what are they like where you're from? can they be practiced here? how do you make your intentions known?

please educate me!

Of course it doesn’t. You would still have to willingly get married like a normal person.

But sometimes there are communication issues, especially if someone is repressed, and if someone is scared. So, I guess it’s what you do when you don’t want to be direct?

shouldn't they first work through their issues before committing to a relationship? wouldn't that be unfair to the person they wish to spend their life with?

Of course, and that’s why that sort of courtship takes at least a decade.

It is. And if the other person had been less stupid they might have noticed sooner.... But, they never even thought it was an option untill someone else had to explain it.

why wouldn't they have thought of that? what kind of idiot are they? did the other party tell them about their feelings? made overtures?

Of course not because that person doesn't talk. You have to listen to his heart beat to know how he feels and learn to stare at him for small expression changes. You have to bother him untill you get a response or an outburst and then interpret it.

And, to think it was an option, the idea that it was alright with two men was needed. No one had ever suggested that as possible before. With a girl it might have been noticed sooner.

does it really matter, though, if they're both men? if they truly love each other? i mean, children would be nice, but people can adopt!

It is! It's nerve wracking! If I had known everything back when I was sixteen it would have saved so much time, and heartache, and bad decisions....
