nine 💕 anonymous text

hi everybody!!

so, i was wondering... there's a lot of magic and stuff like that here, right? well, one of my friends is trying to finally ease their way into finally getting used to that sort of stuff ( ̄・ω・ ̄)

they have had bad experiences in the past and it's kind of ruined their experience to the point where they have issues!

so i want to help them!

unfortunately i don't have powers myself so i can't exactly do much and i don't want to exactly out myself, either (〃´∀`)

but does anybody have any ideas on what would be a good idea to help them out? nothing too over the top or scary, though... or like, forceful! that would be EXTREMELY BAD!!

Your friend is my roommate, aren't they?

[He actually means that in that 'haha I'm living the same problem, it's got to be the same person lol' kind of way. He doesn't actually know that this is about Inaba. Or that he's even talking to Inaba.]

Not quite sure what you're really asking here, considering how much that sort of thing is just baked into life here.

I guess if they're that squeamish about it, they can ask somebody to cast something simple on them? Support abilities like the ones I've got shouldn't really scare anyone. [He'll leave out the usual bitterness about that being all he really has for the most part...]

If we happen to know the same person, then I think it will be fine.

She likes people more than she dislikes magic. So if nothing else, her heart is open to learning.

I don't know how much help I can be, my powers are really scary.

But if I can help, then I will.

'asking for a friend', huh?

[Honestly, though, Atsushi isn't even mad. He's glad Inaba is seeking out help for this.]

People aren't going to judge you for being apprehensive about magic. Not if they know you've had bad experiences with it.

Honestly it's good to treat magic with a healthy level of caution anyway.

Yeah, I get that. [Of course there's plenty of ways to hurt people without any magic or abilities at all, but he'll just leave it at that this time.]

Sometimes there's an incantation, but mostly you'd just have to know the person, I guess. In my case, I don't have anything to gain by pulling some stunt on someone.

What sort of magic? From what I can tell there's a lot of different methods and different sources.

Also, what was the bad experience? Without knowing that it's hard to advise.

Can you tell how it worked?

I don't know if I can help, I'm only familiar with cultivation and qi techniques.

Hm. My abilities are "magic" in the loosest sense compared to others can do from my world. An Elementalist or Mesmer would be better suited to something like this but sadly I've yet to run into anyone else from Tyria here.

That said given that my abilities are a milder form of magic there's still a chance I could help?

That does make it a bit harder.

Is there a particular thing they are interested in trying now?

More comfortable?

Well, I can't speak for how other things work, but, with cultivation, qi is in all things, so it's not uncomfortable energy. It's the same flow in plants and animals and other people. Of course, those who don't cultivate or have low aptitude will have lower internal storage of qi.

To build it one meditates and trains, learning to feel the flow within your body and through your meridians. Learning to use that power to execute different techniques. Different tools can be used to cultivate, I was taught with a sword, so I received a spiritual sword at a young age. They also through years of use grow stronger and work with your energy can be commanded to do things. Such as fly and be commanded from a distance.

The most common tools to use with qi are talismans which are written with ink made from cinnabar and infused with spiritual energy. Things like wards, banishments, and other similar types of things can be made from them.

Of course, the goal of cultivation is to become immortal, or at least ahead of everyone else. Once a certain stage has been reached aging will be slowed or completely stop, strength is increased and reflexes are enhanced. Most cultivators hunt monsters and ghouls to increase their abilities and hone their techniques.

I feel it is more uncomfortable to be without it than to have it.
