hi everybody!!
so, i was wondering... there's a lot of magic and stuff like that here, right? well, one of my friends is trying to finally ease their way into finally getting used to that sort of stuff ( ̄・ω・ ̄)
they have had bad experiences in the past and it's kind of ruined their experience to the point where they have issues!
so i want to help them!
unfortunately i don't have powers myself so i can't exactly do much and i don't want to exactly out myself, either (〃´∀`)
but does anybody have any ideas on what would be a good idea to help them out? nothing too over the top or scary, though... or like, forceful! that would be EXTREMELY BAD!!

[He actually means that in that 'haha I'm living the same problem, it's got to be the same person lol' kind of way. He doesn't actually know that this is about Inaba. Or that he's even talking to Inaba.]

so what if it is?

She likes people more than she dislikes magic. So if nothing else, her heart is open to learning.

I guess if they're that squeamish about it, they can ask somebody to cast something simple on them? Support abilities like the ones I've got shouldn't really scare anyone. [He'll leave out the usual bitterness about that being all he really has for the most part...]
no subject
like i guess you could say that they're scared? of someone doing something to them. they don't like the moonblessings for that reason, too.
but...
support abilities would be nice, but how would they be able to tell they're just casting that? magic doesn't exactly have a thing where you could tell beforehand, right? just after it's been cast?

Sometimes there's an incantation, but mostly you'd just have to know the person, I guess. In my case, I don't have anything to gain by pulling some stunt on someone.

Also, what was the bad experience? Without knowing that it's hard to advise.

and sorry, i can't tell you! it's really really personal to them! (┳Д┳)

I don't know if I can help, I'm only familiar with cultivation and qi techniques.

That said given that my abilities are a milder form of magic there's still a chance I could help?
no subject
100! percent! mundane! abilities that are close to magic? just don't exist back home for them!

I'll do what I can to help your friend. My name is Illyana, by the by.

well a lot of people don't really talk about how magic works or how spirits work, though. not to mention that death in this world is really weird, too re: spirits...
no subject
The fact that people don't (or more likely, won't) talk about how it works makes me extremely suspicious.

[ He knows a little bit about experiences ruining something forever. ]

not exactly 'liking' it, but being able to be more comfortable with it to the point where having people use it on her or something when it's important isn't. . . bad, ig

when there's more understanding it usually leads to less fear!
and you don't even need to out yourself! just tell people you're interested in learning about it. or that you're doing research for homework or something if you're still in school. or if you're not in school tell them you're helping someone else with their homework! which i guess is actually true in a way!
[Though she's seen enough people back home and in media try to pull the 'asking for a friend' to really believe it, entirely...]
of course, if there's trauma it's important to take things slow! remember that small steps forward is better than being set back! and doing it with friends always makes things easier! so just make sure if they're trying that someone will be there to support them!

some things just 'exist' for people, honestly!!
yeah it's... going to take a while.

you should let your friend know. people can become anything! but the hardest step is always the first one. if you friend has decided to take that first step then that's already a huge thing.

Believe it or not, magic was a very alien thing to me just a few years ago. My first time being aware of magic was a crazy field trip back home that involved a kidnapping... it was pretty scary.
But after understanding what it could do, I realized it wasn't so bad.
[ Konoka would even dare to call it fun, but... one thing at a time here! ]
Magic here is closer to science... and so is the magic where I come from. Ask someone to help you study it! Slowly, of course.
no subject
well.
just partially not understand. i know there's bad things! and good things! about that sort of thing.
but with my friend, people have to be patient with her. because she can have a kneejerk reaction to things and i think there's some things that she wouldn't budge on. at least, um. in terms of how she 'sees' things.
she's studied a little of the magic here because of the tech, but just that aspect of it...
no subject
As a matter of fact, the fact that the magic within me could be used for good was what motivated me to pursue it in the first place.
But aside from that, I think the first step for your friend is to take it slowly. It sounds like they have maybe trust issues. But if they trust you, then show them the *good* things it can do. Like heal. Or light up a room. Or even try Lunatia's magic! Everyone can try that during a moon! But remember to take it slowly, okay?
