hi everybody!!
so, i was wondering... there's a lot of magic and stuff like that here, right? well, one of my friends is trying to finally ease their way into finally getting used to that sort of stuff ( ̄・ω・ ̄)
they have had bad experiences in the past and it's kind of ruined their experience to the point where they have issues!
so i want to help them!
unfortunately i don't have powers myself so i can't exactly do much and i don't want to exactly out myself, either (〃´∀`)
but does anybody have any ideas on what would be a good idea to help them out? nothing too over the top or scary, though... or like, forceful! that would be EXTREMELY BAD!!

just that it was a thing.

Is there a particular thing they are interested in trying now?
no subject
it's less that they're interested in trying something but just... wanting to get more comfortable?

Well, I can't speak for how other things work, but, with cultivation, qi is in all things, so it's not uncomfortable energy. It's the same flow in plants and animals and other people. Of course, those who don't cultivate or have low aptitude will have lower internal storage of qi.
To build it one meditates and trains, learning to feel the flow within your body and through your meridians. Learning to use that power to execute different techniques. Different tools can be used to cultivate, I was taught with a sword, so I received a spiritual sword at a young age. They also through years of use grow stronger and work with your energy can be commanded to do things. Such as fly and be commanded from a distance.
The most common tools to use with qi are talismans which are written with ink made from cinnabar and infused with spiritual energy. Things like wards, banishments, and other similar types of things can be made from them.
Of course, the goal of cultivation is to become immortal, or at least ahead of everyone else. Once a certain stage has been reached aging will be slowed or completely stop, strength is increased and reflexes are enhanced. Most cultivators hunt monsters and ghouls to increase their abilities and hone their techniques.
I feel it is more uncomfortable to be without it than to have it.

well, that sort of thing is . . . not uncommon itself back home? spiritual things, too. or at least, the concepts of them?
they're not the type of person that would want to become immortal though.
like, man! who would want to live forever? that seems too sad.
no subject
And, I guess it depends. If the people I love are immortal or will live a long time, I want to keep up with them. The cultivation world doesn't really intersect with the small people anyway. It's also quite common to die while on Night Hunts.
So, I suppose it's better to think of it ageless.
no subject
or not talk to the 'small people', i guess.
not that i know entirely if what you mean is the same way as how i'm thinking about it!
no subject
But, I grew up in a cultivator sect, so I'm sure I'm biased on that. I know the common world better than some, but I can't say I'm exactly part of it either.
If you have any questions I'm more than glad to answer, the ones I can at least.
no subject
but everyone else won't.
you'll watch the people around you die.
that's sad. and a little lonely, i think.
umm, as for questions... maybe explain this "cultivator sect" thing? and the "night hunts" you mentioned earlier.
no subject
That's a bit difficult. Do you know what a cultivator is? Or a sect? As for night hunting, it's when you hunt and kill demons, monsters, fierce corpses, and fierce ghosts. Those things usually come out at night so the name is fitting.
no subject
no
i'm probably from a different world so explain to me like i'm 10. we don't have monsters or demons back home, either. not Real ones, anyway.

A sect is... a martial sect. Cultivation is a type of martial art. Clans are at the heart of a sect. Members of the clan are inner disciples of the sect, while those that are not related are outer disciples.
For example, I'm originally from Yunmeng and my sect was YunmengJiang, Though, I wasn't related to the Jiang Clan, I was taken in as an inner disciple at a young age and raised as a member of the family. Generally, inner disciples will have more priority and privilege over outer disciples.

siiiiiiigh
don't you know what that sounds like? a "spiritual soul" sounds like ripping your soul out as a weapon! it's super super super anime!
no subject
I have no idea what anime is, but I assure you it is not that.
A spiritual sword is a physical sword that has a spirit within in. As your cultivation grows your sword grows in it's spiritual streangth as well.
no subject
that means even if your own soul isn't in it, there's a SOUL OF SOMETHING in the sword.
no subject
In fact my sword is quite unique! Though I did not cultivate it for a minimum of 80 years it still can seal itself so other users can't draw it.
no subject
'spirit' and 'soul' are completely different in your world?
