Just going by the way things have been around here lately, I won't precisely be surprised if answers trend towards "having a crisis", "dying horribly", or "watching someone else die horribly"; even so, it isn't as though I'm going to judge for such things either way.

I haven't played seriously since high school. I run a live house, and we're collaborating with a few other venues to make this happen. It's definitely a lot more mundane than anyone else's circumstances that I've heard.

It comes as no surprise. On the other hand, death apparently means different things to many people here, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that dying hadn't stopped people from continuing on with whatever they were doing prior.

I assume that isn't the case for you, however.

I imagine it isn't uncommon. Though how terrible most of that ends up being is dependent on the world of origin, I believe.

Yeah, sounds like it. My world's pretty boring compared to everyone else's, so it makes sense that I wasn't dealing with anything terrible.

I wouldn't have put it in so many words before coming here, simply because the state of things is what it is. It's the only world I was familiar with, after all.

It's a bit much, however, yes.

Fair enough! I'm pretty sure none of us were expecting other worlds to exist.

What's it like?

There was a viral outbreak several years ago that spread rather quickly, all things considered. And people being what they are, it was rapidly adapted and engineered to be well-suited to biological warfare. It was a rather effective way to end up with hordes of the undead in places, among various other things that used to be humans or animals but aren't anymore.

I wouldn't call it an apocalypse; it isn't on that scale yet. But there are certainly places we don't go anymore, just as a rule.

Whoa, sounds rough. It's good that it's not apocalypse-levels, at least? It's kind of crazy to think about; my world definitely doesn't have zombies running around.

Whereas the idea of one that doesn't is strange to me. It's been that way for a while now.

That said, I doubt your world is completely unremarkable. Rather few are.

I really do wish I could tell you otherwise, but nope. My world doesn't have monsters or zombies or magic or anything cool like that. It's about as standard as you can get. It's also way behind on technology compared to this place.

I think most are, to be fair. What do you have as far as that goes?

Not much. Technology's looking like it's going places in the future, but there's not a ton that's readily available for most people. If it means anything to you, it's 1994.
