My other half told me that I need to make more friends. [Speech patterns are definitely Inner's, but it may come as a shock to anyone who hasn't met him yet.] I don't care, but if it'll satisfy him I'll ask.

People willing to be sparring partners preferred. No one too noisy or annoying. If the other Atsushis don't like you then I hate you already, so don't bother replying.

Oh - thank you. [Light pink dusts Atsushi's cheeks at the compliment.] Really, I don't think I'm all that interesting, but as long as he's making friends I'm happy.

We're spirits summoned to protect literature. Where I'm from, there are monsters eating stories, and normal humans can't go inside books to fight them, so...

[At first glance one might think Wei Wuxian was one who was all for fighting, however, he was a scholar in his own right. Literature was an interest of his as well as research and learning. The idea of a world where literature was an actual world that needed to be defended from monsters was fascinating.]

So, almost like a familiar of some sort? Perhaps you are closer to what my sword is than I thought. Are you just summoned and told to do something, or, are you tied to anyone?

I was transmigrated at a library and I'm an unofficial employee, if that counts as being tied to someone...? But they're not actively providing my anchor here after the summoning.

I assume this world works differently than our original worlds. Did you need an anchor before?

I start to turn back into ink if I'm hurt enough, but that's nothing moonlacing won't fix.

Moonlacing seems to work in a lot of different and interesting ways. I would guess it fills in for different properties depending on where we originally came from.

[Needing it for spiritual abilities, having it heal. He had noticed it seemed to help with the various strange things that sometimes occurred as well.]

Well, I have to say this is the first time I've talked to a summoned literature spirit.

I'm not - I've never actually been to China.

[Just assuming Wei means the city in China and not some kind of fantasy setting thing...]

I'm from Tokyo.

[It was actually an patient word for Japan, his era was so far in the past there were a lot of things he was unaware of. Tokyo for one was completely foreign, and so too was the concept of 'China'.]

But you are still from the country to the east across the water, right?

Yunmeng. Though, I was living in Gusu before I arrived. I guess Zhongguo as a whole?

I thought so. I've always been fascinated by that country's history, though I've never been myself.

Really? I've never really gone anywhere either, at least, not outside the other regions. Though, I know some cultivators have gone across the water and brought back interesting different techniques.

I traveled a bit, but mostly to different islands. ...And to Prismatica, I suppose that counts?

I suppose this is traveling somewhere far. But, it's so removed it almost feels like it doesn't count.

That's true. And it's not as if any of us came here intentionally...

Exactly. We're here with no choice, with no way to control how long we stay. It's not unpleasant if you're lucky, but it's hardly ideal.

If you're really lucky, then not being able to stay as long as you want to becomes a problem instead. There's no winning there.

That's what I worry about. I would rather stay here as long as possible.

Me too. I've met so many wonderful people here that the thought of being separated is...

I'm still meeting people, and it's all very interesting. Though, the most amazing thing I can say is... you can meet people who are lost and still have them in your life. That sort of special thing would be terrible to lose.
