Video (during hospital volunteering); un: lucy

[It's a rare occasion to see Lucy actually making her own broadcast on the network. From the look of the background, she appears to be sitting in the lobby of one of the hospitals.]

It's Lucy, if you're wondering which one of us is speaking now. I understand we have some healers in our midst, so I want more advice about healing wounds, even if it's through magical means of doing so, since I'm not sure whether my vectors' way of healing would fall into the science or magic category, or both. I didn't even know I could heal others until a few months ago, and the first time I did it was by accident. I'm more used to tearing things apart, not mending them together.

[It's said in a matter-of-fact way. She wasn't going to deny that she was more of a fighter than a healer.]

That's why I'm volunteering with the hospital, and considering recent events, it's probably best I learn as much as I can now before shit hits the fan again.

[She doesn't really want to be seen right now, at least on the network, so it's an audio response from her.]

I can heal. I never really thought about it much but in those terms it would be magic based.

I do have to focus it. I use a staff. Magic is a rather large part of my world.

[And still something of a problem considering they've yet to solve the whole imbalance issue.]

Mostly. I can do some things without it but I find the staff makes things a lot stronger and less... erratic.

Moving targets can be difficult to aim energy at.

Heh, no. I'm not an Engineer. And to be fair, they generally make things explode on purpose.

[That was amusing, though.]

All of that, yes. I can't save someone from fatal injuries, though. That's a bit too much for me.

There aren't, not as far as I know. I don't think any healer is that powerful, even water elementalists.

Trust me, there are times I wish I could be that strong...

[Ana doesn't have to ask to have an idea of what she's thinking of. She's seen that expression many a time, and had it herself more than once.]

It depends, honestly. Someone who is deeply in tune with water and becomes an Elementalist will generally have a fairly good handle on basic healing skills from the get go and can train them further if they so wish. The same with some Guardians. I, however, started as Ranger which is not a particularly magically inclined profession. We're more about pet training and long range skills.

But I wound up lost in the Maguuma Jungle several years ago. I lost two of my weapons, was injured and pinned down by Mordrem. That area was very close to a lot of magical ley lines - the source of magic for all of Tyria - and I guess something awoke in me there. I was able to call on that power and started using the abilities of the ancient Druids.

Science... exists in Tyria but it's really more the dominion of Asura. Magic has always existed, though. I've literally seen the pulsing leylines that normally exist beneath the earth.

It's a little freaky.

[A blink, head tilting slightly.]

What powers? It seems to me that science can't really explain away everything, especially if you have something they can't explain.
