Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well this fine autumn day!

The change in weather and the decorations and costumes in the shops got me thinking about home. I've mentioned it before, but my brother and I are from a world known as Tyria. I've heard mention that "Halloween" exists as a holiday in other worlds, but the more I hear about it the more I realize Tyria's Halloween is quite a bit different.

You see, it's also known as "Shadow of the Mad King". Why is that?

Well.

[Ana shuts off the light closest to her, instead having a desk lamp tilted in such a way as to cast heavy illumination and shadows across her face, clearly going for that cliche "creepy" effect as she drops her voice.]

King Oswald Thorn was an absolute monster of a monarch, ruling with an insane level of decadence and violence in the ninth century AE while his subjects suffered famine, war, and extreme punishments without a sliver of remorse shown from the man. He married many times, and each wife met a terrible and gruesome fate. Even his own son, Edrick wasn't safe from his mad machinations, locked away in the Shell of Insanity with a mouth stuffed with candy corn. He would host extravagant banquets whilst the people starved and would cackle gleefully at his own madness and awful jokes. Eventually the people had enough and rose against him, sealing his fate and scattering parts of his body across the world, sealed with magic so that he may never rise again.

BUT! That was not the end of Mad King Thorn. Oh no. Every year as Halloween draws near, the seals weaken and his presence is once more felt in Tyria. Portals to the underworld are found across the land, and his looming figure, a massive forever-grinning pumpkin head glowing with hellfire appears in Lion's Arch to briefly test his "subjects" with a game, offering of course tricks for the losers, and treats for the winners. We run through his mad labyrinth, defeating his minions, carving pumpkins in his likeness, trade candy and of course dress up in fanciful costumes!

[Ana laughs softly and turns the normal light back on, propping her chin on her hand.]

Yes, he's much less terrifying now. He did try to break back into Tyria properly when I was younger but after he was pushed back into the Underworld he really just shows up to have fun for a month at our expense and tell his awful jokes. Regardless, it's made for a great folk legend and quite the holiday for us. I know this world has its own autumn festivities but I was considering hosting a small sliver of the Shadow of the Mad King at my range.

I would need some volunteers, though. Would anyone be interested in helping out for the day? I'll compensate you with meals and demichroma. Please let me know! I think letting people experience the festivities of other worlds can be very entertaining!

(ooc: For those looking to participate or volunteer, there is a lovely log right here!)

Okay...

[The voice that's picked up behind the view finder of the communicator is soft and a little out of breath, a strange jumble of obvious nerves as the hands trying to set things up properly without anything falling over are shaking no matter how much Ana tries to calm herself.

This was different than starting a guild. A lot more went into legitimate businesses than she realized.

But it's here, and ready, and the shot for the moment is focused on what appears to be a collection of rough made but sturdy battle dummies and targets set up beneath a wooden covered awning.

Ana steps in front of the range once the camera is steady, holding her shimmering bow in one hand and tucking some wayward red curls behind her ear with the other, dressed in her leather armor. She gives a sheepish wave, face flushed both from awkwardness and having been rushing around before this moment.]

Hello, Lunatia! And... other locations! I wanted to announce that today my brother, friend and I have successfully opened up our own business! It's... a bit different than what's usually around here, but we decided to bring a bit of Tyrian flare to the city! I mean, if you can really call it that. We all seem pretty rustic in compari--

[Someone coughs off camera to keep her from rambling, and she stands up straighter.]

R-right! So, yes, I am welcoming you all to Crystal Dragon Creations... and Archery Range!

[She steps back a bit to show the targets again.]

After a bit of talking among ourselves and with some others around the city we realized there wasn't much in the way for those of us who practiced archery as far as a place to practice was concerned, but rather than just build a range and hope for the best we also decided to include our own crafting skills from home. I specialize in gear for huntsmen which includes leatherworking, short and long bows and some basic firearms. My brother Rurik is fantastic with heavy armors and melee weaponry, and our friend Asteffiel is skilled with artificing - that is more magical based weaponry - and lighter wear. We can repair just about anything, and craft just about anything! ... within reason, of course, but we won't know unless we try!

[She can't really think of anything else to say, so she bounces back to the camera and picks it up, but rather than shutting it off she turns it until it's facing her now with an arm around her brother's upper arms as she grins mischievously.

Naturally he looks. Very confused.]

By the way, this guy is still pretty new and totally single.

ANA!

[ooc: Forgot to link the info page! Not there's much more to it compared to what Ana has already stated, but there are journal names for the other two employees and a link to how crafting is done in Guild Wars 2 via the wiki! Aaaand. Some pictures. Yup.]

[ The video feed opens up to a shot of a well-groomed sunglasses-wearing fellow sitting in a gaming chair of dubious tastefulness, smiling mildly. There's a VR headset offset to one corner of the shot, also helping set the scene. ]

How many Moonblessed are currently playing LmaO? That's "League Match Action Online", for those of you that might be unfamiliar. It was quite popular for a while! I'm certainly still playing it. To the point that I'm hoping to get together a proper co-op team for the next ranking event. Might any of you be interested in teaming up?

[ He settles back in his seat, then, and snatches up a small stack of plasticky, semi-transparent cards, fanning them out and holding them up to show them off. ]

And for those of you that haven't heard of it, but might be curious, I'd be glad to tell you about it. I have free item codes to give away, even. You don't even need your own VR equipment to give it a shot. The city's full of game centers where you can rent some time. And it's not as though we Moonblessed are all that short on funds, really...

[ He is making his best effort at sounding enticing and appealing... or at least enticing and appealing enough to convince someone to join his MOBA guild. Maybe he should have undone the first button of his shirt... ]

I've bought a house in Amegahara and I guess you'd call it a bit of a fixer-upper.

I'm doing what I can with it but there's still a lot of work to do.
[ And she's kind of winging the shit out of it because what is asking for help...

BUT, HOLD THE PHONE: ]

It has a big garden which is... kind of overgrown.

Anyway, I'm no gardener so I'd appreciate help from someone who knows what they're doing with this stuff. Happy to pay.

Also, anyone who knows anything about taking care of koi.

{The Iris moon has blessed him indeed! Instead of his crown, Thranduil is sporting antlers - pristine and white. Much the same shade as his...fur. Tufts of wintry white fur outline the sharp edges of his face, trailing down the sides of his neck to disappear under his collar.}

My Fëanorian has left me and I am in need of assistance. If you are willing to help me ride out this storm {no irony intended}, I will give you my address.

{Otherwise he is quite stuck. His hand or some apparatus must do and that will just leave him displeased.}

[Oh look it's Ana again.

In Greatmoon Groves. Again.

There's no violin this time, though, and she has turned the video on and adjusted it in order to walk away and... completely out of frame.]

Kleio!

[She has something in her hand, a kind of dried meat but cut far too large for any human mouth to chew on without hurting their jaw. The reason becomes obvious enough a moment later when a large creature comes bounding onto the scene, wearing a saddle and skidding to a halt like an excitable puppy.

Ana laughs and tosses the treat to the dragon-like creature who snatches it out of the air and chews happily. She comes back into the view and pets the creature's neck affectionately. That mess with Majestas was... awful. Absolutely awful. And she's still in recovery though thankfully the bandages are gone now, but having her companion here is already making her feel better.]

Hello everyone! Meet Kleio! She's what's known as a Skyscale where I'm from. They're sort of a distant cousin of dragons, and Kleio here was raised by me from an egg to become my mount! She's very good at flying and--

[And chewing on Ana's hair, apparently.

She's still somewhat young despite her size, at least in terms of animal maturity.]

... Kleio, please.

[Achem! Just going to very gently push her big ol' snout away so she stops.]

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce her now that I finally have her here, and also offer anyone a flight around Prismatica! I know there are limits to how far we can even go, but if anyone has been itching for a bird's-eye view, I'd be glad to give it for a bit of chroma! Feel free to ask me anything about her, too!

[It's a rare occasion to see Lucy actually making her own broadcast on the network. From the look of the background, she appears to be sitting in the lobby of one of the hospitals.]

It's Lucy, if you're wondering which one of us is speaking now. I understand we have some healers in our midst, so I want more advice about healing wounds, even if it's through magical means of doing so, since I'm not sure whether my vectors' way of healing would fall into the science or magic category, or both. I didn't even know I could heal others until a few months ago, and the first time I did it was by accident. I'm more used to tearing things apart, not mending them together.

[It's said in a matter-of-fact way. She wasn't going to deny that she was more of a fighter than a healer.]

That's why I'm volunteering with the hospital, and considering recent events, it's probably best I learn as much as I can now before shit hits the fan again.

[It's evening on the 23rd when this goes up, starting with the camera view being shifted around a bit before whoever is holding it settles it overlooking a quiet part of Greatmoon Groves. The sun is casting gold and red across the scene, reflecting off the flame-colored hair of the young woman who steps in front of it holding a green violin in one hand and bow in the other.

She doesn't bother with an immediate introduction, instead putting the bow to the strings and giving it a few testing notes before starting a somewhat melancholy but high energy song. She plays through to the end and lets the last note linger before letting out a breath of obvious nerves and returns to her communicator to pick it back up.

It takes a moment for her to adjust properly, being too close at first but eventually pulling away so she can give a proper wave and awkward smile, freckled cheeks tinted pink.]

Ah, hello Lunatia. I'm Illyana Ackermann. I arrived here last month, and...

[A pause, attempting to funnel some of her nervous energy into staying something coherent and not rambly.]

And I've been hearing amazing new music since I got here, so I wanted to try and play something. That is, I should say, new to me. I'm mostly used to tavern bands and talent guilds, and most human music in the Kryta region is more what you'd expect drunken soldiers to loudly sing along with. There's also Charr metal...

[Don't ask.

Or do.

She pauses and tucks some errant hairs back behind her ear, looking off into the distance.]

I didn't do so well when I first arrived here. I was upset and foolishly took it out on myself. Drinking too much, hangovers well into the night. Thought I was better off under blankets in the dark than trying to make the best of an unusual situation. I'm sure I'm not the first one to do something like that, or the last.

[Off screen she's idly running a finger up and down one of the strings, making a soft but inadvertently haunting noise.]

I've made some friends here somehow in spite of my best efforts to become an unwashed undesirable hermit, so I'm going to swallow my pride and actually put myself out there. Playing was always more of a hobby for me and came second to anything else that was going on in my life, but there's no time like the present I suppose to become more serious about it. It's not like I have much else to do here. I'm curious about whoever else might be interested in music here, or even interested in lessons. I play a few other instruments, though violin is my strongest skill.

Sorry this was so long, but thank you for listening if you stayed this long.

[... how does one end these things?

Another wave?

... okay, she's just going to awkwardly shut it off.

She'll be in the park probably until dark if anyone wants to find her there continuing to play on the bench she sat at.]
