video; un: nanpa_hunter
[the video starts with someone (in a lot of green) too close to the screen. just the bottom half of his face is visible and his mouth moves as he mumbles something to himself. eventually, he leans back. some of you might recognize him as the Green Man who introduces himself as Robin. after a moment, he lifts his hand in a greeting.]
Hey there, folks. [that same hand rubs at the back of his neck.]
I'll make this short and sweet. [the recording turns around and focuses on a couple of these guys, brightly colored and lazily swimming around in a large fishing bowl on a windowsill. one headbutts the side of the bowl gently.
there's a sigh.]
Anybody in the market for a couple of rainbow fish? I don't want anything for 'em other than getting the responsibility out of my hands. Don't really care what you do with them, either.
[but he's out here
looking for a home for them.]
It'll be first-come, first-serve. Early bird gets the worm and all that... or fish, in this case.

voice;
from what he knows about saber, he's noble. Robin isn't surprised he answers without struggle.
besides suggesting they switch the medium of conversation. he weighs his options and a reply eventually comes in with a resigned looking Archer.]
Fine, fine. Truce. I don't really like using this thing, anyway. I feel like it can be recorded by someone. Where are you?
voice;
[ Apparently, besides being antisocial misfits, they also share a completely healthy and not at all cynical suspicion of everything. ]
Do you know where the Greatmoon Groves are? The market? I’ll meet you there.
voice;
if he doesn't know, he'll figure it out. luckily, he's been spending a lot of his time in the groves when he's not out collecting information or spying on the goings-on of Prismatica and he's been in the market nearby once or twice for sundries and supplies.]
Sure. Shall I look for a sign that says "Archer" or "Nanpa Hunter"?
voice —> video;
Oh—
[ Right, if Robin isn’t from Chaldea, he has no idea who he’s actually talking to, let alone what he looks like. Arthur turns on the camera and steps into some light so Robin can see him. He’s wearing a red shirt and a black coat, nothing special. ]
A... what hunter?
voice;
and a question to answer, he guesses.]
What, never heard of it? Nanpa. [for the first time in a while, he sounds amused at Saber's downright bafflement of the word. followed by the sound of some shuffling and someone's boots hitting the soft earth heavily before walking through grass.]
It was the name chosen on this device when it was given to me. I dunno how to change it so I left it. Suits me just fine, anyway, I guess.
video;
[ Likewise, Arthur begins walking too. He’s apparently just now turning into the gardens, having been out on the streets earlier. He was headed there to do some shopping for dinner, so that Robin tends to be nearby is convenient. ]
What does it mean?
voice/action;
Robin has his hood up, hidden away, as he joins the fray and scans the crowd for a head of golden blond hair and a red shirt. the world is so colorful, though, that it might be easier to spot him in the green hood than anything else.
instead, he opts to listen for an echoing, responding voice as he replies,]
It's flirting, more or less. With no strings, preferably, in my case.
no subject
Flirting?
[ Arthur blinks down at his phone, Robin having gotten his attention with his explanation. ]
So that means... hunting for no strings attached romantic entanglements? I suppose that does sound rather like you, May King...
[ He doesn’t agree, but he’s not about to judge Robin on his preferences. He knows enough about Robin to know that he might have, er, had some issues with a certain abbess. ]
Where did you learn this word?
no subject
May King, he's called. he knows his identity then? that's annoying. no Grail or Priest is making them fight, no, but it's still annoying. he likes his identity being hidden, thank you very much.]
Don't call me that. [not only because they just discussed the possibility of this being a watched network, but he also doesn't like it.
and HE HAD NO ISSUE WITH AN ABBESS OKAY........]
Does it sound like me? I didn't know you knew so much about me. [the joke is there are few souls, alive and dead, who know anything about him and he wants to keep it that way.] It was one of the things I picked up when the Grail did its info dump during summoning. A lot of it is fodder, though.
no subject
It seems the Grail from your world was more generous with the knowledge it gave out to you all. Ours only shared the most basic of information with us and I think even then, some of us still suffered a degree of shock from being in the modern world.
[ He sighs and takes a few more steps, turning his head when he thinks he hears himself echoing off in the near distance somewhere to his left. He starts heading that way. ]
If you're not from Chaldea, am I correct in guessing you haven't met me before?
no subject
his days are taken one at a time, regardless. if his... memory was wiped once, who's to say it wouldn't be wiped again? or what if it came back? hopefully it doesn't. ignorance is bliss. he doesn't want to know why he kept those fish for so long or why it seemed like two people lived in that apartment. he just had to get out and lose all ties to that place.
Robin's spacing out comes to a stop when he thinks he can sense the denser energy of another Servant he experience on Moon Cell. the edge of his hood tilts up and he glances out. a blonde guy, looking around as if searching, catches his attention and he keeps his eyes on him as he responds,]
... That depends on if you're the Saber I'm thinking of. Guess we'll figure it out when we finally come across each other, huh? Which... if I've got my sights on the right guy, I may be right behind you.
no subject
[ Arthur turns and though it takes him a moment, he does finally spot Robin on a crate between the market stalls. He was hard to spot amidst all the other greenery of the area, but eventually, he does and he smiles and nods briefly to the other Servant in greeting. ]
I see you.
[ And then he cuts the call feed before walking around behind the booths to meet with the Archer. Robin's got his curiosity peaked now. Did they really meet somewhere else? ]
A pleasure, Archer. Apologies for letting your other moniker slip. But I don't think many who aren't from Chaldea would know what your True Name is from it.
no subject
Yo.
[he's not the Saber he's thinking of. pretty damn similar, though. the knightly aura is as blinding as the Sun Knight was.]
Can't be too careful in an unpredictable place like this but, well, whatever. Hopefully nobody kept tabs on our conversation. [Robin keeps his seat and his position, leaning over his legs with his arms resting on his thighs.]
Gotta say, it's weird not having to fight other Servants as soon as they pop up. No Master?
no subject
[ Arthur nods in agreement. ]
It's very strange. There is a Master, I believe, but she didn't summon us. Some have apparently contracted with other Moonblessed.
[ His eyes narrow thoughtfully at that. He still doesn't really think it's a good idea to involve those not native to their worlds with Servants. He understands it's unavoidable to a degree, but actually contracting... It shouldn't even be possible. ]
This place is dangerous though, war for the Grail or no. It seems every month there's some sort of incident or two that endangers the people. Some Servants have decided to ally with each other in order to fight those threats, but I don't know if I would say all of them get along well. You would have to ask each of them individually. I'm sure they all have different opinions.
[ Like Lancer, who's insane enough to think every one of them could be in the same room together without someone trying to kill someone else. ]
no subject
Robin, a pragmatist, sees the appeal in contracting with someone as a Master. Servants need mana and, from the sound of it, Chroma is as good as. he's sure he can survive without a Master (and he likes the freedom) but it's tempting to have a battery.
not that it's all that difficult to come across Chroma here if you're a Moonblessed. what did they call it? Moonlacing, right.]
Every month? [he can't help but blurt, baffled. more invasions? what the hell, no wonder the place is Chroma deprived. if it's like that every month, they should just give up and move somewhere else. they have the space ships for it -- cut your losses and move on.
something to look forward to in the future. how long is he going to be stuck here?]
I'm not asking each Servant who they do and don't get along with. [he's only in that party for the free booze. he also has a bad feeling about it and something is definitely going to get destroyed. maybe a building.] I'm keeping my distance whether or not we have to fight each other.
Seems like we're busy enough as it is. So, we have been summoned to fight in another war. [why else? that's their lot.]
I'd rather know who I'm working for, you know? Nobody has any idea, huh?
no subject
I don't blame you for that. I'd rather keep some distance from most, as it is.
[ Which... leads him to the matter of his own identity. With those who know him from Chaldea, there's no need for him to introduce himself. To everyone else, he's only told them to call him "Saber". Robin isn't a Chaldean, but Arthur knows the version of him from there, if even just distantly. This situation isn't exactly fair and if he doesn't want Robin to think of him as posing a threat to him, it's probably best for him to level the playing field, even if they have met on amicable terms right now. ]
Arthur Pendragon. My True Name. But like you, I would prefer to go by my Servant class in public.
And no, I haven't heard anybody's ideas about how we got here. I arrived in late January. Majestas first showed up then. In February, a statue came to life and nearly drowned Lunatia in magical water.
no subject
the surprise he feels softens his expression from its perpetual droop.
leave it to a knight to want to level the playing field, too. if he had been in Arthur's... rather, Saber's position he wouldn't have done the same. he likes his advantages. honor and all that? better left to people just like Arthur and Dan.
slouching back, he leans against the wall behind him and closes his eyes as he crosses his arms.]
Heard about that. And I take it nobody's found a way to leave here, either? If they want to. [besides the place nearly getting made into Atlantis 2.0, he doesn't have any problems being here. he kind of... does what he wants and that's nice.]
I don't mind it.
