Sometimes the world burns and it's something to be remedied; it's something to be fixed, to be patched up and smoothed over, and you go back to forgetting that it was ever burning to begin with.

And sometimes the world burns, and that's just the state of things. If it's not your new normal, it becomes your generalized normal rather quickly. It's not the end of things, it's just places you no longer go and precautions you become accustomed to taking. Adapt. Overcome. Evolve.

Things are settling again, for now. We'll see if it stays that way or if the scales continue to tip. But while I don't take pleasure in all that's been happening lately, I can't say I haven't missed being part of a world setting itself on fire, either.

[There was no way in hell she was telling the whole story of that. But perhaps an extremely simplified version would work?]

i thought it'd be easier to deal with the world if i were something else, for as silly as it sounds.

i'm glad it makes sense to you, at least. [Because thinking back on it, a lot of it didn't make sense to her - her mental was not in a good place, back then.]

have you ever tried to become something else?

really? if that's the case, isn't there a possibility that all the changes in the world wouldn't be enough to get what you're after?
