[ The video turns on to Rey sitting in front of a display of brightly colored glass items, a forced smile on her face. She's never actually made a post of her own, before. Attention freaks her out. There's a five second span where the look on her face screams 'ABORT ABORT' but she pushes through it, exhaling. ]

Hello. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Rey. I've recently opened up a shop on Level 2 that deals in all different kinds of junk and recycled items, as well as electronic repair. I have a background in spaceship salvage, and my workers all have varying degrees of knowledge or interest in similar things.

[ And awkward pause, before D-0 beeps at her in binary and nudges her foot with his nose. This is of course off-camera, but she looks down and smiles, before her eyes return to the video feed. ]

[ the more he hears about what people think the jedi are, the sadder he feels. it's normal, considering how twisted the jedi became during the war, especially in the eyes of the people. but it is sad nonetheless. like a culture reduced to a summary. ]

We do, though mostly when we go through turbulent feelings. Emotions that threaten to overwhelm us.

[provenforce]

Oh, well. That would explain why my master had me meditate so often.

[ What is emotional control is it something she can eat ]

[jedies]

Perhaps. I cannot speak for another teachings. I certainly didn't employ meditation that much when I taught my padawan.

[provenforce]

It was probably just different. It was only the two of us, she was trying to help me learn to use meditation to reach out to Jedi that had passed into the Force.

[ This is not her favorite topic for a variety of reasons, she wrinkles her nose, before shaking her head. ]

Which is a lot harder than it sounds.

[jedies]

[ that . . . is not a teaching obi-wan is familiar with. that has to do with the whills. but he pushes that aside for now. ]

I can imagine. Reaching for a presence in the Living Force is considered a high-level technique.

[provenforce]

No kidding. I've always been better at the physical aspects of the Force. I managed it, once.

[jedies]

[ his lips twitch. ]

Oh, everyone loves the more physical parts. Moving things, the lightsaber. But I'm afraid that's the most surface level teachings.

[provenforce]

[ She bristles a little. ]

I know that. I've spent a year studying the ancient texts.

[jedies]

The "ancient" texts?

[provenforce]

Yes.

[ She reaches off-screen and comes back with an old book that looks like it's been rebound many times. She holds it like it's been one of her few friends over the past year. ]

They were written by the earliest Jedi.

[jedies]

[ huh. ]

Was there some kind of answer you were looking for in there?

[provenforce]

Several. I learned a lot from these books.

[jedies]

[ hmm. not what he asked, but obi-wan lets it go. ]

I'm glad. It's good to know some part of the Jedi culture lives on.

[provenforce]

They might be the only thing that does.

[jedies]

[ a pause. ]

Why is that?

[provenforce]

[ Oh. She bites her lip, eyes darting away from the camera as she absently hugs the book to her chest, fingers toying with the fraying edge of the cover. She realizes that she's probably said too much about the future, but then she'd been here, to their universe, and back again. She knows for whatever reason, they can't change things, because they don't remember.

Looking back at the camera, regret weighing heavily on her shoulders and etched across her face she replies in a somewhat small voice. ]

Because I'm the only one left.

[jedies]

[ obi-wan falls quiet, his face in shadow. there are questions, but they won't help him now. but in the back of his mind, a horrible picture does form. ]

I am sorry. To be a Jedi alone . . . is difficult to bear.

[provenforce]

[ Rey smiles a little sadly, shaking her head. ]

It's not that I'm not used to it. I've always been alone.

[jedies]

Even so.

I can't imagine you prefer it.

[provenforce]

No.

I'm not alone here, though. That's something.

[jedies]

[ the corners of his eyes crinkle. ]

Of course.

[provenforce]

[ Rey smiles briefly, before sighing and shaking her head, a little flustered and embarrassed as she puts the book back on the table in front of her. ]

I'm sorry, that probably wasn't a video conversation reveal. I don't even know how much I should say about... my time.

Not that we remember anything from this place, when we return. Still I don't want to overshare.

[jedies]

[ obi-wan sighs quietly. ]

If it happens in a way I cannot predict, then I must accept the will of the Force. And hope for the better.

[provenforce]

If it... helps, I don't know, exactly. I heard stories, but... what happened to the Jedi isn't a story that ever had one explanation. I know a few things that were facts, but... how it happened, or why, all the official records were destroyed.

[ She feels like that's not helpful. ]

[jedies]

[ he shakes his head. ]

I suspect I'll know soon enough. I am in no hurry to gain that knowledge.
