text, nyx saw something silly and had to put it to SOME use
[Attached is a picture of a strange, pyramid-shaped device, with an extremely colorful glass case, full of blinking lights. It has a few wires coming out of it.]
I *guess* this is a computer. It's strangely shaped, is glowing so much I can't see any of the parts inside of it, and even with how long I've been here... is kind of worrying-looking.
It seems not many of you come from worlds with computer technology, not like this -- but for those who do, what was it like? I wonder if there's someone from a world *more* advanced than this one.
[ooc: Think along the lines of this incredibly bizarre thing from the 2000s.
Look, I saw it, and I had to, okay?]

we have computers back home but theyre more compact than that bullshit

but cant get around how ANYONE would find that design appealing in any way.

On Earth, pyramid-shaped objects often are said to have some sort of mystical significance, due in no small part to the fascination with the Egyptian pyramids (and other large pyramid-shaped landmarks that are thousands of years old), or they otherwise "feel powerful." For example, I've seen a lot of quack science apparatus in pyramid shape. I wonder if this machine is meant to seem powerful or magical or something to that end. Or if the designer just has incredibly garish taste.
[To be fair, "incredibly garish" is just kind of on brand for this world.]

but "garish taste" works too

I suggest you repaint it.

[Then again, if Patchouli was building something like this, she'd think about function first and form if she remembers. This probably would lead to at least one completely disastrous-looking machine at some point.]

Are such computers commonplace here? I have not seen one such as that before.

I should *hope* they're not. But the store had more than one in stock. I imagine the main reason why anyone would be interested in it is for its gimmick.

Oh trust me, I know. Lest we forget about things like Juicebox, VideoNow, and Hitclips.

It's perhaps less strange than you think for such a thing to be the case. At least, there are some tiny words spelled (or transliterated) identically across several of that world's languages that are pronounced differently in each.. "Earth" is pronounced with the A being completely silent.

I wouldn't be surprised if it had some... odd components. Or at least, vaguely unique. The sort of thing one would not purchase if they were building their own computer, I guess.
Sorry about the delay, Patchy! ;; Stuffs and junk.

I'm pretty sure there's no camera of any kind in this thing, though, so unless it's doing something *else* to capture my image...
