Sermon #1 - text

[Just a simple little post from username 'Bluemarine', but it's posted for everyone to see and the option to reply in any format you like is there, should you feel like it. Somebody sure has the burning desire to ask everyone a question (or piss off as many people as they can, depending).]

How many of you believe in an afterlife? Or...What I should ask is; how many of you understand that you're slaves to fate and destiny, no matter how unhappy yours might be?

You're welcome to try and change my mind on that front, if you think you have the intellect.

Does that mean your destiny is asking existential questions in an attempt to bait people into arguing debating with you?

Partially, yes! And look at all of the flies I've caught with vinegar! So there goes that old saying, dashed and defeated in the face of the human need to argue online.

Boredom is a powerful motivator sometimes. And look. I never said it wouldn't work. People like to argue.

So? The grand question! What camp do you fall under, if you have any opinion you deem worth sharing at all? I'm all eyes.

Oh right. I guess I'm not entirely sure what I believe? Honestly, I've never really given it much thought before.

Young or ignorant, then. You should probably start to think about your stance on such things; they don't necessarily have to match mine, of course, but life is too short to fly by without thinking about the meatier parts of it.

Why do I need a stance on things? Maybe some of us have been too busy with other things to really bother with things like that.

[Not that didn't believe in something, she just, honestly, wasn't sure what that something was.]

Both. Interesting! Be careful that you don't suddenly end up old or on your deathbed panicking about what lies ahead and how you reached that point; I've seen that plenty, and no one appeared particularly happy about being in that state.

[Mostly because he had a hand in killing them and who's ever happy about that? But it always helps to skew a narrative.]

I don't doubt that there are a lot of things I'm ignorant about. But I'm not gonna be old for quite some time, so I'd say I still have a while to figure that out.

You could also die tomorrow. And if you're so busy...Time flies, as they say. But you know best, don't you?

I could also die today. That's something I accepted a while ago.

I'd like to think I know what's best for me, or at the very least, I have a better idea than some random guy trying to stir up trouble on the network. c:

Who says I'm entirely after trouble? I'm also gladly accepting conversation about the matter, even if our points of view don't align or our worlds work in fundamentally different ways. I'm wounded, really and truly.

But then, I don't think there'd be much in the way of conversation between us anyway, would there :'(

That's fair. Sometimes it's fun to stir the pot a little, though.

[She'd certainly done enough of it, herself.]

I mean. I'm not not enjoying this little chat.

That it is! I take back what I just said; maybe we have more in common than I imagined. The way I see it is, if I get a good conversation 8 times out of 10 with this sort of starter, then those are worth the 2 times I have to put up with someone just blowing off steam at me. ...And those 2 times are fun in their own way, anyway. We all win!

If you haven't thought about your life views, and if you really are young then I can't exactly fault you for not thinking on that sort of thing, then can I simply ask about what your home is like? I'm learning about everyone's worlds even if they don't realise they're teaching me, and it's fascinating. All little bits of trivia, you know? We can swap, but...My world feels rather mundane in comparison to what I've heard so far.
