Hello everyone! Considering the unique opportunities of this world and it's assorted collection of individuals I felt it was worth reaching out with a question.

Or, several questions.

But first, if you know anything about the dead, undead, or similar to a dead state, please stay and listen!

Also, in this world and others there are great and amazing magics, right? The power to bring people back to life supposedly in some places.

So, what I wish to ask for is a bit of help on a small matter. How might one start in... reviving a body that has more or less stopped functioning, and bring it closer to... alive.

Ah, don't worry about the person, their consciousness is in perfect condition and is quite well.

[He sounds a little sheepish at that.]

Also, I am not against suggestions of trying for completely new bodies or using a body that is lying around. If such soul transfers work.

[Shouldn't he ask if Wen Ning is against that though!? Well, he would ask later if he had a good answer down that path.]

And, feel free to join in if you only know a little. The best research results are when one experiments with their ideas and talks to others about them!

Yes, hello.

[ Not that Ambrosine knows this, but HI this is the undead lich necromancer from the post that got linked by your friend. ]

You might want to be just a little more prudent with your inquiries in the future, but! Genuine lich and necromancer, here for any questions.

To be honest, I'm not sure. My own people back home have been renown for their necromancers for centuries now,

I haven't had much time to practice what with it being illegal and all here, but my other magic has been...somewhat restrained.

I could see why the powers that be might have considered it a bit of a headache to deal with, though.

[ She was a pretty high level wizard and that's where you get to the spells that make pocket dimensions and permanently turn someone into a tree and...well, other godmodding shit. ]

To answer your question: a lich is a mage that pursues undeath by performing a ritual that binds their soul to an artifact. It's an extremely complicated affair and most people who try just end up dying horribly in the process.

Have you consulted a cleric?

...do you know what a god is?

Because if so, we can start from there.

Alright, let's start from there.

Clerics are mortal individuals who hear the call of a particular god and seek to help carry out that god's mission in the material world.

...a priest, basically.

Either way, those of particularly strong faith were able to petition the gods to revive the dead, in both body and soul. You'd have to sacrifice something of value first; most of these rituals require something like a diamond, or a rare flower, or an animal sacrifice of The Greatest Goat To Walk Upon the Earth.

You get the idea.
