Voice UN: whatever

[Wei Wuxian sounds rather excited as he talks to the network. It's fast and casual but very enthusiastic ]

Hello everyone! Considering the unique opportunities of this world and it's assorted collection of individuals I felt it was worth reaching out with a question.

Or, several questions.

But first, if you know anything about the dead, undead, or similar to a dead state, please stay and listen!

Also, in this world and others there are great and amazing magics, right? The power to bring people back to life supposedly in some places.

So, what I wish to ask for is a bit of help on a small matter. How might one start in... reviving a body that has more or less stopped functioning, and bring it closer to... alive.

Ah, don't worry about the person, their consciousness is in perfect condition and is quite well.

[He sounds a little sheepish at that.]

Also, I am not against suggestions of trying for completely new bodies or using a body that is lying around. If such soul transfers work.

[Shouldn't he ask if Wen Ning is against that though!? Well, he would ask later if he had a good answer down that path.]

And, feel free to join in if you only know a little. The best research results are when one experiments with their ideas and talks to others about them!

We have none of these things. These tools for communication, the room for bathing, the instant hot water, the tool that cooks in minutes, the oven that doesn't need a fire built, these are all things I had never seen before.

But at the same time, there are no arrays here for protection, there is light and noise all the time and it's hard to be without a crowed anywhere.

It it a bit of a trade off, yeah.

There are a few places, that I've found, that are quiet. Not as quiet as somewhere without modern cities nearby, but quiet enough to forget them for a short while.

True there are a few. But, it's not quite the same as leaving town or the city and just having fields of crops and mountains and forests.

Especially rivers and ponds. It would be nice if there were lotus ponds here.

I don't know about lotus ponds, but I did spot a river and some open, wild areas last time I was out for a test drive. Nothing really cultivated and I was given several warnings about going too far out of range of the city, since there's wild animals and some fairly extreme environmental degradation the further out you go, but if you're looking to just get some fresh air for a while and have the ability to defend yourself if need be, it should be fine.

Actually, I'm quite interested in that. Especially the monsters. I wonder how fierce they are. It might be nice to have a challenge.

[[a slight pause.]]

You normally fight those sorts of things?

[[Not that he was looking to find Hajime a new fighting partner that wasn't him getting his butt kicked all the time, but... you know. Important information when you know 3 Undead with various levels of having a good grip on their need to fight things.]]

Well, it's pretty normal for a cultivator to do so. The juniors need something to train on as well.

[[A small, faint huff of something bordering amusement]]

Depending on how you fight, I might have a solution for that.

With spiritual swords and daoist spells for the most part.

I'm a bit limited at the moment however, but everyone else is up to par.

I'd be interested to see how those work.

What's your limitation?

This bodies spiritual power is a bit lacking, so, using spiritual abilities is a bit dificult and other methods are impossible.

...you had a different body, before?

Oh, yes, I died. But, was summoned into this body through a ritual.

...Before or after you arrived here?

Oh, before. I was dead for about thirteen years and I've been in this body for... a little while now.

[[There's a slightly more significant pause. As he's. just. Having a moment.]]

...that sort of thing is normal, in your world...?

Not at all.

...but someone arranged for it, so that you could be brought back...?

[[So many flashbacks. So many...]]

...Is this similar to what happened with your friend?

In a way, possibly. There is a ritual I researched and had written down in a book with other findings. When I died people split up my stuff as trophies and one person had the book. Another person got a copy of the ritual, and performed it with the intent of summoning me.

It's a very rare, dark and hardly used ritual since it requires the sacrifice of the summoner. It's the sort of thing you do as a desperate last resort for revenge. You summon an evil spirit, give them your body as payment, and then usually ask them to kill someone for you.

Oh, and, I am not an evil spirit and I did not kill anyone just so you understand that.

Thisnis completely different from Wen Ning. Wen Ning was murdered and I got there a little too late and sort of... got really angry and called him back as a fierce corpse which is not hard. However a fierce corpse is mindless and just a rage fueled killing machine....

Later I figured out how to wake him up and give him his consciousness back....

[So a person that doesn't ask if he should do something, only if he is capable of doing it.]

[[one moment as he blinks a few times]]

...but the person who summoned you thought you were...?

[[another pause for blinking]]

The hell kind of idiot...

[[Another pause, this time for some flashbacks that serve as a list of idiots willing to go that far. And a reminder that he was more than willing to die for getting his own revenge at one point.]]

...fixing the mistake that was made in the way that you could.

[[It's said softly, with some understanding before he lets out a long, slow breath]]

Dealing with the line between the living and the dead is always risky. I'm glad you were able to restore his mind to him.

Well, I can't blame him for thinking that. I am the founder of demonic cultivation... and I became every cultivators boogeyman.

[Which, if he thinks about that time of his life, maybe wasn't completely undisvereved. His temper was out of control and he had been an arrogant asshole a lot of the time. But then, he had been young and had tried to take on too many responsibilities.]

I'm quite amazed I could restore it in fact! I had promised his sister, mostly because I wanted her to stop crying... It was almost a miracle of fate that I returned it at all.

The founder...?

[[....would that be like trying to summon Tennouji to...

... no, no it would be more like what did happen.

...and as that was a very uncomfortable line of thought, he was just gonna shake off that mess of flashbacks and try and focus on the present again.

Yes. I created most of the techniques and tools. Or, at least, the first person to carve a path with these methods exclusively.

But, it's not really a choice I made, it was just... the only choice.

Something occurred in your world that necessitated their creation?

[[If his voice is a bit softer at that question, it's just because he knows how that goes. ~~Different sort of Undead problem, but still. Mood.~~]]

Well, a lot of things. There was a sect war and I was thrown into a place full of fierce ghosts and should have died. The amount of resentful energy there was so high no one had been able to clean it, they just sealed it away. So... the only way to live was to harness resentful energy properly.

We can say and assume a lot of things, but in the end, we can do anything to survive if we want to badly enough.
