001 Charisma and Elegance Duo Intro [Video/Open]

NOTE: Sakuya and Remilia arrived together. This post was written by both muns.

The video flicked on showing the face of a young woman with blue eyes in a maid outfit a little bit too close to the camera. She blinked several times and glanced back over her shoulder once and then back to the camera.

“My Lady. I believe it is working.” And she backed off a little bit, holding it up to reveal the two new faces.

The lady in question turns out to be a rather petite woman with short blue hair and red eyes. The leathery bat-like wings on her back mark her as decidedly not human. The fangs that are visible when she opens her mouth to speak give a large hint as to what manner of being she may be. “I must say, I am rather impressed. To summon me to this world against my will is praiseworthy. I cannot say I know of anyone capable of doing so. I must thank whatever force did so for the kindness of bringing along my Sakuya, as well. She would be ever so lonely without me.” And Remilia herself might have found life more difficult, but that remains unsaid.

The maid in question shifted a little bit as she was addressed, bowing her head in acknowledgement. She didn’t speak though, not wanting to interrupt Remilia’s speech.

“But perhaps I should introduce myself properly. I am the Lady Remilia Scarlet, and while the finery I normally surround myself with did not have the courtesy to make the trip with me, I have little doubt I shall be able to replace it in time with whatever passes as such in this world. Even without the trappings of my mansion, however, I am still a lady and will be treated as such. If you lack the manners to do so, do not waste my time. I do not enjoy having my time wasted.” She gestures behind her. “This is my personal maid, Sakuya Izayoi. An insult against her is one against me, and I do not tolerate insults. Sakuya, introduce yourself.”

Sakuya gave another small bow. “Greetings. My name is Sakuya Izayoi, head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion bound in service to the great vampire Remilia Scarlet. I will be serving her to the best of my ability while we are here. As such any information that can be provided will be of great use to us both.”

Both of you arriving at once? That's rather fortuitous.

[Oh, right, this is video. Patchouli's apartment is a little disorganized. Her clothes are kind of similar to usual this time, but with a subtle difference of actually having stripes this time. Stripes which are glowing, which kind of makes her fit with the aesthetics better, or something.

Could be her magic. No, this time it's not her magic. Um, probably not. That Chromawear thing wouldn't count as her magic, right?]

[The attitude Patchouli is given is a great deal less arrogant than what was displayed over the network.]

Oh, what have we here? I had not expected to see any familiar faces other then Sakuya's, and yet here you are.

[Her voice is less full of herself, and also sounds a little bit happy.]

This is, indeed, fortuitous. I trust this world has treated you fairly in our absence? I will be unhappy to hear otherwise.

So far, yes, it has been only frustrating once in a while. There is much to capture my interest. This Chroma matter... isn't so bad as I'd initially thought, actually.

Er, you two have been updated on that, right? Chroma, the moons...

I had a problem at first with my magic. It was acting... strangely. It still does a little but it all functions as intended aside from appearance.

I do not much enjoy what I have heard. The thought of these moons being able to influence me is more than a little frustrating. I suspect it will not be as bad as others made it sound, though. I have felt like myself so far.

[There's a brief pause, one that would not be there if she wasn't talking with someone who already had her respect.]

Still, if there is anyone I would listen to, it would be you. To give you a straight answer, we have been told the basics and little more. Our arrival was quite recent.

At that Sakuya stepped in. "We have merely been told of what it is and how to obtain it. We have not yet had much chance to experience it ourselves. Truthfully it all seems quite strange but I suppose it is not the strangest thing that has happened..."

No. That honor goes to showing up in the first place.

"If I may be so bold, perchance can we trouble you for a tour later on? I wish to know all I can about this place so that I may resume my duty as quickly as possible." Ever the maid.

That shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. I'm not exactly busy today, so let me know when you want me to come by and find you two.

I have not been here long enough to have any plans for the day. Whenever it is convenient for you shall be fine.

[She allows a little smile.]

It is good to have you here with us. I am hardly some scared child, as I should hardly have to tell you, but a measure of comfort is something I appreciate.

"If you wish it Lady Patchouli, I can come to you. It would be a small matter to hasten your voyage to our location."

Though it would probably be best to inform the old-fashioned maid how to find the map on her device. Else she would be searching for a very long time.

I think it would help the both of you to at least get to know a little bit of how to get around. Especially so long as we're living separately from each other.

[She sends Sakuya and Remi both a screenshot of her map application, showing how to get to her apartment. Unfortunately, that might not be very helpful. Thankfully, she also includes instructions on how to reach that in case it isn't.]

[Remilia was, of course, no idiot, but she also was not experienced using such modern technology. The instructions will no doubt be quite a bit more helpful than then screenshot is. Remilia stares at it, clearly not entirely certain of what she's looking at. Naturally, she does not admit it.]

Yes, very good. We shall see you soon, Pache.

[Provided her stubbornness doesn't get both her and Sakuya lost, at least.]

[Stares at his communicator.

Stares.

Vampire.

Nope.

He responds in kind with a video.]

Well met, Lady Remilia Scarlet. I am called Lancer of Black and as you do not wish to have your time wasted with disrespect, I'll keep this short.

Let us keep our distance and when I have settled on my domain, do not trespass. I would like to consider myself a fair and gracious host but I feel as your presence would be beyond my limits.

If we can abide by that, I will treat you as the Lady you've made yourself known to be.

Greetings, Lord...Lancer of Black? Would you prefer Lord Lancer? Lord Black? I must admit I have not heard a name quite so...well, let us say unique before.

[The petite vampire offers a little curtsy.]

But now that the greetings are aside, I am curious as to the reasoning of this request. I have made no threats, and I currently harbor no desire for conquest.

[Though it wouldn't be the first time she tried it if she changed her mind.]

Without a reason, restraining myself for the benefit of a stranger seems more kindness than I am willing to offer.

Consider Lancer of Black a title. Like King of Avalon or Queen of the Nile. That should clear it up for now.

[His tone as far as that is concerned is pleasant enough. A stark contrast to the tone that follows.]

And know that I ask not for your kindness or favor. Instead I warn that though I consider myself a hospitable lord, I will not suffer your kinds' presence.

I have other goals that far exceed my disdain though so I wish not to do war but instead avoid acting upon it.

[The undisguised threat seems to bring more amusement than fear. A wide, fanged smile crosses the woman's face. In all honesty, she seems absolutely delighted.]

Very well then, Lancer of Black. In truth, I know a thing or two of titles. In the land I was calling home before finding myself here, I was known as The Scarlet Devil. Let me ask you, do you believe a devil likely to simply roll over and do as she is told? If you do not wish to interact with me, that is your own concern. I will not force it upon you. Neither, however, will I go out of my way to avoid it.

[Her smile twists into an unpleasant, mocking grin.]

Though I must say, you would have been better served to remain silent. Now you have my attention.

[ The maid, did not interfere with Remilia's conversation but it was clear that such a conversation was angering her. If looks could kill Lancer would be in a great deal of pain right now. She clearly did not approve of how he was addressing her Mistress.

However, she did not openly object to his harsh words, listening in silence. It was not her place to step in while Remilia was dealing with a problem. Not unless she was asked. ]

[Scarlet. Blood. Well at least we're keeping to a theme.]

I have never known man or devil to simply avoid imposing on others unless it's become very clear it is not in their best interest. Though usually I have found it is much more effective to show the reason rather than tell.

[Grandiose displays have a certain way of getting the message across after all.]

Still, I'll ask that you forgive me this slip of my usual etiquette. This strange place leaves me easily agitated and your need to impose your visage across these communication devices finds me at my least tolerant.

[The response only prompts another smile from the petite vampire. She doesn't seem angry at all, her voice calm and her words measured and refined.]

Consider yourself forgiven. However, if merely seeing my face upsets you so, you will be unlikely to spend much time happy, as I have little intention of avoiding using this device. It allows me to met such interesting people, after all. I am curious, though. Do you intend to show me rather than simply tell? That sounds like it could be interesting in an entirely different way.

[She's still speaking in that calm tone, but it is obvious she doesn't feel threatened in the least.]

[Meanwhile, between his situation here and his inability to get his wish, she's the first vampire he's had to suffer.]

I intend to keep my own domain and to keep it free of detestable undead night stalkers. We can come to terms on that or I will do as I must.

I am not in charge of these devices so I can do little about you desire to use it. I can grant you that freedom involuntarily at least.

[Now he's just being petty. The man on her screen looks far too old to be this petty.]

[Again, she seems more happy than she is intimidated. It was obvious that she was taking some form of pleasure out of the conversation.]

Detestable? Such harsh words for one you know little about. Why, I could almost find myself feeling insulted.

[Her smile fades, and when she speaks it is in a much less friendly tone.]

But I begin to tire of this verbal dance. There have been many who saw me as a monster to be slain. They all attempted to 'do as they must'. I took no pleasure in cutting them down. Do you believe you are speaking with some manner of fledgling? A shambling corpse who is going to be vanquished with a clove of garlic, a shiny crucifix, and an oaken stake? If you wish to impose your will over me, you will need more than words. You have already discarded your chance at convincing me with them. I do not know what the source of your hatred for my kind is, but you would do well to learn to control it. You wish to offer me freedoms I already possess? Then I shall offer you something as well. Your life. If you do something foolish, I will not kill you. You seem to hate vampires so very much. The thought of you owing your life to one is a great deal more amusing then any harm I could inflict on your body.

Know that an attempt to enthrall me will only ensure, at best, our mutual destruction.

[As for the rest, now those are creative. He wonders at how it all came to be that way.]

And know I am not a hunter of your kind. I do not seek you where you lie or play at caring about what you normally fear. I only impose my will upon my own domain. I am sure you have survived many trivial things but there are simple facts that even Gods have learned upon invading. I decide who may travel freely and this is simply a warning that you cannot. That truth goes for all your kin.

At those words Sakuya could no longer hold her tongue. Her tone far colder and less openly amused than those of her lady. "Hold your tongue. You are not worthy to even entertain the idea of being My Lady's thrall. Nor are you worthy of speaking to her as if you were equals." At some point her eyes had turned red, her power manifesting more openly.

"There is none in this world that could hope to contest My Lady's power. Praise your good fortune she has not sent me to retrieve your head."

[Nothing else said has dissuaded the petite vampire. She has already said words are not enough. She does not look surprised in the least with Sakuya's outburst. Unlike Remilia herself, Sakuya had no interest in pretending to be civil it seemed.]

In my experience, those who claim to be gods are just as fallible as anyone else. I have never met a deity I considered worthy of respect, and many have had the chance to try. If you hope to impress me with words like that, I fear I will have to tell you that you have failed. I suspect I will be telling you that a great deal, should you continue with your childish tirade.

[She glances backwards at her visibly angry maid.]

My servant, however, is right on all accounts. Tell me, what use would I have for one such as you? I already have the perfect maid, why would I be interested in an imperfect butler? This entire conversation is little more than amusement to me. You will not find me quivering in fear from it, as I rather suspect you lack the power to see to my destruction. Do not believe that to be an insult, though. It is merely a fact of life that all who conspire against me must eventually come to terms with. Now, as for what I do want, as you have provided me with more entertainment than anything else in this world so far, I have decided to forgive you for the time being. Spend the time I am allowing you to learn better how to make a request from a lady.

I do not expect fear from you, as your kind rarely shows it until their destruction. I only give warning to relieve myself of having to deal with you. Your claim to power are none of my business.

[His own tone remains agitated as it was from the start. Vampires. A reminder of something worse than death, dishonor or any tortures in this world and the next.]

The warning is simply that. I will not allow you to trespass. Whether or not you think I am capable does not change that truth. Otherwise I plan to simply avoid you, despite this one lapse in self control.

"Do you truly expect us to believe such lies? Your first contact with us assumes My Lady's intent is hostile. And lash out with clear threats. But then fail to tell us where this so called domain of yours is nor do you define what it is to trespass upon it. You are looking for opportunity to raise arms against us by either catching us in an unwitting scenario or provoking us with this message. We are not fools."

And clearly the human maid was very provoked. She shaking a little bit, glancing once at Remilia before casting her gaze downward. She wanted to defend her lady's honor with more than words but the lack of orders meant she would be refraining for now.

Remilia had been so focused on her conversation partner that she had not noticed just how worked up Sakuya had been getting. She turns away from the camera, her maid more important to her than someone she barely knows. "Sakuya. I can see you are quite troubled. But I cannot yet give you the permission I know you want. Rest assured, I shall let you take care of the matter as you see fit should that need arise. For now, however, he is nothing more than a fool. It would needlessly shame us both should you take the life of a fool simply for acting foolish."

She turns then back to the camera. "But my Sakuya does bring up a good point. What do you actually mean by your 'domain'? If you are saying I cannot enter your home, that is fine. I do not make it a habit of entering the home of others without a reason. If by 'domain' you refer to more than simply a home, that may be something I take offense to. Because no matter what 'truth' you want me to accept, there is only one truth that truly matters. If you provoke me, I do not have any issue humbling you. Should matters become personal, I would even do you the honor of using my own lance. I think you would find it quite the spectacle.

As my true domain lies elsewhere I have been forced to settle on a smaller scale such as a dwelling and its lot. I will be sure to mark it accordingly so the wretched cannot cry when they are punished for trespass. I am not an invader and will only defend what is mine. Know that I do not assume hostility here, only that your kind is want to sate themselves in disgraceful ways and tend to care little for where you tread.

[Now time to ignore the thrall if it's so easily tamed by its master.]

You need not pretend at honor. The legacy that created you is devoid of it.

We can even leave it at this. If you will settle with not invading then I can settle on dealing with more important matters.

[As she is responded to, the petite vampire can't help but shake her head. In her mind, she had already made up her mind what sort of man she was dealing with. A simple minded man who probably wouldn't be able to tell one vampire from another. He does not recognize greatness when it is before him, and because of that she could not bring herself to be truly angry as Sakuya did. In her arrogant and self-righteous mind, this was a person to be pitied. What good was there in truly hating a fool? The simple don't even realize they are simple.]

With each word you speak, you prove how little you truly know or understand. From where does this hatred of my kind stem? Do you cast insults at us out of envy? You give me ignoble treatment not knowing my bloodline stems from the most noble vampiric bloodline of all. You claim I lack honor without knowing anything at all about me. You are a pitiable man, Lord Lancer, and I cannot bring myself to hate you. To hate you would be to akin to hating a child who speaks of something they have no understanding of.

[She sighs.]

You are starting to bore me. You may rest assured that whatever meager hovel you call your own will be safe. I have obtained a home in this world, and while it is not up to my standards, I have no desire to improve it through conquest. If there is nothing more you wish to say, perhaps an apology for your uncouth behavior, then I believe there is is no reason to drag this conversation on any longer. Know, however, that my eye is now upon you. And if that ever results in something you do not approve of, remember it was not I who decided to insult YOU.

[He lets the vampire finish uninterrupted. Lancer then paused a moment, waiting to make sure there was nothing else she wanted to state before simply hanging up.]
