[ when the feed flicks on, it's to japan seated neatly in a chair, hand withdrawing from the phone to curl in his lap. he offers a bow, straightening with a slightly uncertain expression. ]
Good afternoon. My name is Japan-- [ a slight waver there; it still feels a little strange to introduce himself this way to strangers. ] --and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I've chosen to address the network largely for the purpose of asking advice, which I suppose is a time-honored tradition among internet users. As there's no Twitter here to turn to, well.. [ he trails off, then spreads his hands in a small shrug.
anyway. ] As a nation, my government has generally provided for me for quite some time. I do a fair amount of volunteer work, but well.. it's not the same thing as holding employment. Particularly not on another planet. [ a beat. right, get to the point. ] I would like to work for [ er. ] one of the moonblessed? If possible, that is. I've heard that there are some few that may be opening businesses of their own. If not.. it would be nice to hear about where you're working. If you are, that is. Perhaps it will give me some ideas.
[ he sighs, shoulders dropping slightly. ] Though.. I'm not eager to begin just yet. It's been quite a long week, hasn't it? With the dragons, that is. [ a beat, then he perks up slightly. ] As the little ones have been returned to their parents now, though, if you have photos that you'd like to share, I'd like to see them. The dragonlings that I saw over the last few days were all very unique. It's interesting, how they took on traits of us. Don't you think?

[ So JMSDF, because for unknown reasons his series specifies both Navy and "Gunsou" which is used for primary army instead of the maritime equivalent so HAHAHA whatever deal with it, you somehow have a veteran naval sergeant. ]
Currently with Yokohama division's Mad Trigger Crew.
[ As if Japan is supposed to know what that means.... ]

when he rises again, though, his head tilts faintly. ] I'm afraid that I'm not familiar with this Mad Trigger Crew, though. I apologize.

It was my honor.
[ He's half American on his father's side!
But ah..
Vietnam didn't know, then it probably stands that Japan wouldn't know in their timeline either..
How to explain this. ]
We're the representative MC group from Yokohama. Have you experienced the transition to Calendar H yet?
[ He isn't sure how to deal with Japan from the past (he assumes). What if he somehow makes it so he was never born if he tells him the wrong thing? No. He was born before Calendar H, that probably wouldn't affect anything. He can't keep anything from his country anyway. ]

No, I don't believe so. Unless that is some sort of slang..? [ he hesitates. ] The Reiwa era has just begun to my knowledge.

[ That's troublesome. Riou isn't a huge talker, but it needs to be explained and there's no one else around to. ]
Calendar H is the term for our current calendar, after the Party of Words conquered Japan by rendering physical weapons useless with Hypnosis Microphones. The country was divided into territories, with the women in the central governing area and the men banished to the outer divisions, control of which is determined by division rap battles.
[ That should clarify which MC he means too. ]

at last, a little faintly: ] I become a rhythm mobage..? [ THAT SURE IS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE.
but then he blushes, because he doesn't mean to sound uhh.. well.. he's not sure, but he's sure he doesn't sound particularly grateful or polite. ] I apologize, this is simply a lot to take in.

The rhythm mobage comes out later this year--]I understand.
[ It's a lot to deal with. He'll wait silently here until Japan says he's ready to continue talking, he can take all the time he needs.
Yes, Riou is going to stay on this video quietly until Japan says otherwise. ]

and he sure is quiet in turn for a minute or two as he just sort of.. deals.
finally, though, he takes a careful breath. ] So.. in your time.. [ or timeline. ] .. I've died as a nation? [ a beat. ] Are these Hypnosis Microphones as self-explanatory as they sound?
no subject
No. Japan is still Japan as a nation. The Party of Words is composed of Japanese women. The previous government is no longer in control and the means of governing has drastically changed.
[ Basically, Japan gets stepped on by domineering big tiddy women now. Sorry.
Off of his hip, he takes what appears to be some kind of satellite radio and holds it up to show Japan. ]
This is a military prototype version. It's stronger than most. You use your words to create lyrics, and the lyrics are translated into influence over the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems of living creatures. Depending on the lyrics and the user, it can affect different aspects of the mind and body.
[ aka it can screw with everything from your fight or flight to physical pain, heart rate, and shitting your pants. you really shouldn't mess with nervous systems but here we are. ]

he presses his palms together, then his fingers to his mouth, silent as he stares at the other man. normally he'd apologize for doing such a thing, but well.. this is.. a bit crazy. ]
I suppose I've heard more unusual things since arriving here, [ he murmurs, almost to himself, and straightens again with a small sigh. ] Well, I do hope that you're all taking care of me, then, even if things have changed.

[ They did just lose to Matenrou in his memory, so technically Shinjuku is in charge of the territories right now but they'll get the territory back soon. He's sure of it. A police officer, a soldier, and a yakuza are the ones who should be in charge over a doctor, a host, and an office worker he's pretty sure. ]
