[ when the feed flicks on, it's to japan seated neatly in a chair, hand withdrawing from the phone to curl in his lap. he offers a bow, straightening with a slightly uncertain expression. ]
Good afternoon. My name is Japan-- [ a slight waver there; it still feels a little strange to introduce himself this way to strangers. ] --and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I've chosen to address the network largely for the purpose of asking advice, which I suppose is a time-honored tradition among internet users. As there's no Twitter here to turn to, well.. [ he trails off, then spreads his hands in a small shrug.
anyway. ] As a nation, my government has generally provided for me for quite some time. I do a fair amount of volunteer work, but well.. it's not the same thing as holding employment. Particularly not on another planet. [ a beat. right, get to the point. ] I would like to work for [ er. ] one of the moonblessed? If possible, that is. I've heard that there are some few that may be opening businesses of their own. If not.. it would be nice to hear about where you're working. If you are, that is. Perhaps it will give me some ideas.
[ he sighs, shoulders dropping slightly. ] Though.. I'm not eager to begin just yet. It's been quite a long week, hasn't it? With the dragons, that is. [ a beat, then he perks up slightly. ] As the little ones have been returned to their parents now, though, if you have photos that you'd like to share, I'd like to see them. The dragonlings that I saw over the last few days were all very unique. It's interesting, how they took on traits of us. Don't you think?

To answer your question about employment, I actually started a host club, similar to what one might find in Japan, with the help of one of the locals here. It's been quite helpful in providing me with funds and even allowing for an easier way for those to enjoy some quality time with another.
[Moonlacing made easy basically.]
Was there a sort of job you were interested in trying?

he hesitates, touching fingers to his mouth. ] I'm.. not really certain. Something familiar, I suppose. I'm quite a good home cook, I suppose, but I wouldn't compete on a cooking show or anything like that.

I suppose I've settled as best I can. [ considering.. everything. he hesitates, though, brows lifting. ] What sort of business is it?

[Not... entirely impossible, but unique to be sure.] I've been job hunting too! Though I didn't know moonblessed could open anything here.
And I really miss my Tsukiko, she was so cute!

I was doing some reading up on things, and it seems that we are allowed. In fact, I've already spoken to two moonblessed that are doing so.

but warmth blooms in his chest as he reads the rest of the message, hopelessly fond. for as confusing and alarming as italy's been at times in his past, he does love him. ]
I'm very proud. I think that you can probably cook anything you set your mind to, though.

Oh, I was wondering if there'd be a Japan after those other guys explained all the "embodiments of countries" stuff. It's nice to meet you~
I haven't really been working myself, but I've been seeing about starting something of my own for a bit...I'll mostly need artists and people who are good with computers if I go ahead with it, though. Is there any particular kind of job you were interested in?
no subject
Artists and, mm.. programmers..? [ is that what he means by 'good with computers'? he's admittedly curious about what this could be now. ] I've learned a little of everything over the years. [ including programming, but he's not really sure he wants to do that for a living here. maybe? ] I suppose that work is work to some extent. Yes?

While the concept is nothing new to him—hell, that's how he exist—the fact that there's a personification of his... homeland even made him pause in surprise.]
Are you really Japan?
[There's a good deal of skepticism here, before he seems to relax for a moment.]
I do have some photos I don't mind sharing of my dragon. [Actually please give him a chance to show off.]
no subject
[ but then he brightens in interest. ] I'd like to see them. Did you give them a name..?

Anything you need, sir!
[ He looks so proud to say that again. He's even going to properly salute in the video.
Japan might find it a little odd that he's still wearing his military fatigues?? Even though they're not in Japan. Look, he wears them day in and day out even though he's no longer in service officially. This is his life. ]
bless him, what a good boy
well, it's not.. really his business, he supposes.. ]
Thank you, you're very kind. [ he offers a small smile that he hopes is reassuring. ] I suppose that your name would be a good start..
