[ Wen Ning had scrolled upon Wei Wuxian's post entirely by accident since it's not often that he uses the network, finding most of the discussions there beyond him. He was rather surprised by the large response to the post, even more so to the lack of context the responders had and how it led to some rather fierce conversations with his master.
Though he had initially been ready to respond to each and do his best to clarify matters (he could not have people speaking so ill of Young Master Wei when they did not properly know him), the sheer number involved had convinced him that it might be better to make a post of his own. Even though he is nowhere near as good with words as Wei Wuxian.
At least the "voice-to-text" application on his device should make it easy for him to communicate without his usual hangups. It's guard dog time. ]
There is something that must be said.
Young Master Wei only wishes to help me have a fuller life here. To be able to share food and drinks with others. To be like others who received a second chance here.
He is none of the things people here have accused him of. He is a kind person. And I trust him fully.
As he said, I am well. Even though I am not the same as you.
I will not have anyone saying false things about him.

[[a pause]]
That is, to restore your body to a more living condition.

[ That could mean so many things. But it doesn't sound like the man's expertise is specifically dealing with the dead either. ]
Is such a thing possible?
[ He hadn't given much thoughts to the specifics of his master's desire beyond wanting to restore some basic functionality. Restoring his flesh was something he never would have even dreamed of. ]

I may be able to use that knowledge to find a way to allow your body to start to regenerate itself, as it would if it were still living.

[ They must be conscious and possess some memory if they have lived so long. They can't be the wandering vengeful type that frequent Wen Ning's land. Even the strongest fierce corpse would eventually fall to decay. ]
Were you able to replicate it? In your world?

..and it's not either of the two Undead here were going to read this anyway, he was sure.]]
They're much like people, varied in their minds and wills. Some only act as mindless beasts, others have compassionate hearts, others seek only to fulfill the destiny they were created for.
We so far were able to harness some of that ability to aid the bodies of those dying from illness to successfully fight off that illness, as well as accelerate the regeneration of damaged tissue in people who were injured. The scale of your case is much different, but with some modification to the process, there is a good chance that the same can be achieved here.

[ Like him. And like Song Lan. The only ones who'd managed to hold onto anything when they were brought back. ]
How can you harness it beyond your land? If it comes from those there?

...and the answer to the second part is going to get a... simplified response. For multiple reasons.]]
It's an ability that is part of their genetics, and I have the data that makes up that generic code with me.
no subject
Ah. I am afraid I do not understand much of that.

The genetic code is the blueprint of a living organism, the plan that the body uses to determine what to do and create. Sort of like a list of instructions that's embedded in the very essence of existence.
[[Hopefully a bit better of an explanation.
Or at least not a more confusing one.]]

[ He can hardly keep up with most of these ideas, but the details behind them do suggest genuine possibility and more than just hopes and visions. ]

[[It's worked before, after all. ... granted, that had been with living beings, but... he's sure he can find someway to make it work.]]
I do need to gather more information and do some tests to be sure. With your permission, of course.

[ Wen Ning is polite to a fault, but he's not about to entrust his body to just anyone either. Too many bad experiences with that. ]

Also, considering Tachibana is just some rando on the intranet, having back up is always wise]]Of course. He's the one who knows the most about your current condition, so I'll be relying on him for information as well.

I am glad you think you can help him.

[ Who needs details anyway? ]

Then whenever you're both free, we can meet and get things started. Everything I need is portable, so I can go to wherever you feel most comfortable.

[ Being indoors always felt restrictive now. Too many bad memories of containment. ]
