So... just to relieve some boredom:
Has anyone ever had some kind of fictional "creature" turn out to be real for you? Vampires, yetis, ghosts, whatever. Something that was purely fiction for you until some point or another, or that Mulder and Scully would crap themselves over. How accurate are they to the stories, if so?
I'll go first. I know I talked about this already, but... zombies? Used to be a pure movie-and-video-game thing for me. Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later sort of shit. Then they turned out to be real. Mine aren't undead, but they DO mutate, which is kind of bullshit.
Zombie bullshit.
[that's zoey's line but ok rochelle]
"Aliens" is cheating, for the record, but only because we're all going through that right now.
And, uh... if you are a vampire, yeti, ghost, or whatever? That's cool too.
[slowly, she's accepting that these are Real Things she has to consider too]
I'll be real, I was just barely used to the zombie thing by the time I got here. But I'm getting used to the other stuff... a little.

[As for Bigfoot--]
Oh really. [Said about as mock-believing as he is mock-conspiratorial.] So's it true that he likes to surf?

Well, they've got the "weird mutant animal-person" thing down, but they're generally less... sassy and annoying. Of course, back home I only ran into one, so I don't have enough data on the species.
[And the little blue thing forced him through a portal and he ended up here so he probably never will. So annoying!!
Oh well. Could be worse. Could be waaaay worse.]
Now, I haven't heard anything about Bigfoot surfing, but I'm also not a cryptozoologist so I don't get things directly. Maybe there is a beach-dwelling Sasquatch out there and nobody told me. Cowabunga.

[Anyway. She laughs.]
There's a surf school in Washington state named after Bigfoot. I just like to pretend that's another hobby of his, besides getting definitely-not-photoshoppped pictures taken.

[He waves his free hand vaguely. No way the Prismals are gonna let him dissect them either, though, so that research is just a pipe dream.]
Hell, maybe this place has its own Bigfoot. Obviously he tends to avoid populated areas as much as possible, but he might have a secret beach out there somewhere, and they found him there and named it in honor of that. Who wouldn't want to see him hang ten, huh?

[Ro's no scientist, but she's a journalist and it shows.]
Would Bigfoot even be different in a place like this? I could probably go outside on a Sanguis night and see at least two.
no subject
[Hell, even boy band mind control hell was only slightly different to how Earth boy bands operate, right?]
Maybe that's the thing. Maybe here Bigfoot's just a... regular guy. Infinite possibilities.

Probably helps that I work TV news. Asking questions comes with the territory.
no subject
[He is very quick to point this out.]
You do the news here? Sounds like you could get some juicy intel.
no subject
[She's not that impressed.]
I'm an associate producer for a local TV station, yeah. Don't know how long it'll last, though. [She sighs. That's another story, unless Robotnik is that curious.] Never a dull day in news around here, though, I can tell you.

I don't doubt it. Having off-brand Backstreet Boys taking over is a hell of a welcome. I hear that's pretty much standard for this place?
no subject
Oh, I've been here a few months. Before the boybands. My first time here, I got turned into a mermaid.
Not sure if I prefer it to evil boybands, though.

[He's not surprised, exactly, an unfamiliar world is going to have different things than he's used to, but also he was kind of hoping the moon stuff would be it.
Silly to hope, of course.]
I think I'd prefer physical alterations to mental ones, myself.

[He's heard of that one!]
Someone mentioned that before, although they didn't mention the, uh, mermaid part.

[Who cares!!]
no subject
[Because he's just gonna be Like That.]
Still, uhhh, that's not what I expected with the "statue" and "robot" descriptions. This magic thing is... something.
no subject
[She's not dumb, buddy.]
Sure the hell is. I'm still getting used to that part.

Frustrating when you know exactly how something should work and then it just... throws magic at you. I'll figure it out though.
