[Perne is situated at a cosy-looking table in the Azure cafe. Chin in the palm of her hand, she tucks dark hair behind the shell of an ear.

Last time, she asked about a cathedral and couldn't recall getting a direct answer. She has, since then, assumed such a thing doesn't exist. But it did beckon some very interesting religious theory conversation.

This time, she has something different she is hunting for.]

I have found mineself with an alarming amount of free time and wish to invest it somewhere other than excessive and possibly unnecessary thought. I thought I had once heard rumour of a theatre house here in Lunatia. Is that true? I am aware we have other exhibitions of art, but mayhaps something musically or stagecraft inclined could be of benefit to many of us with such interests.

I acted as patron and worked within an opera house back where I hail from. I should like to reprise the role.

Well, it would be quite arrogant of me to assume anyone here would possess exclusive interest in me. In truth, I would not wish it to be so. Back home the situation was a bit different. [Candidates for marriage and all of that...] Admittedly Ishgard has never exactly been subtle about the looking. It is simply a... way of the people. I suspect it shall be for a bit longer.

[Or a lot longer.]

And you, are still quite the flatterer, I see. I look like any of mine other people, Megumi. No more lovelier. No less.

[ She does flick her ears, cupping her own cheek thoughtfully. ]

You really don't like talking about yourself though, lass. Were things really so terrible for you back home?

[ She's blunt, but that's something Perne knows, right? ]

Nay. I cannot imagine you find much of a need to skirt about your words.

[Megumi continues and Perne abruptly pauses. Her expression is, as ever, unreadable. It's difficult to determine if she's annoyed by how pointed the question is. There is no crime in curiosity, regardless of how she would like to prevent others from showing it.]

The answer to your question is yes.

[And then.] I have mine own reasons for keeping things to mineself. 'Tis not a personal slight. Eventually, I may come to share them, but I share only what I am comfortable sharing. That is how it should be for everyone. I would never seek to pry from others what they do not desire to share with me of their own accord.

[ She usually never pries beyond seeking her confirmation. To see if someone does want to unload to ears that will listen with no judgment, and if they don't, she won't push it. Still, she chuckles, as though expecting this. ]

I understand. I'm not asking you to tell me what happened unless you want to, though. Call it a catte's curiosity—

[ And there's a small smile. ]

I just wonder if it's worth holding onto when you're worlds away from home. Not to say you need to share it- but it seems at times, you hold yourself back from letting yourself be happy at all when you've the chance to leave all that behind. Of course, it's nothing that can vanish overnight, but... if you ever feel like you can, you should take the chance and free your mind, aye?

[Perne shakes her head. It's evident that she has no plans of sharing about her times in Ishgard. Whether that is for her own desire to distance herself of it, or whatever the reason may be...

Well. It's all quite complicated. Perne is a coward, though she will not admit it so outright. She has no desire to relive her experiences and the truth is, to speak of them is nigh the same as breathing life into them. If she should stop to consider, Perne believes she will never be able to continue again.

There is no simple way to discuss any of that. It is better left in a box, locked up tight, and thrown far deep into an abyss where no one may be able to rest gaze upon it.]

There is no leaving behind what one will return to. You and I are not here forever. I will not fool mineself into thinking this is a long, extended reprieve from a world I am accustomed to. That I am not as unhappy as I once was ought to be testament enough that I am making an attempt.

[She pauses.] Unless you are not finding that obvious enough. In which case, I could hardly know what to do to please you without lying all of the proverbial cards on the table.

[ That makes her expression brighten, even as she regards Perne with a rather deep interest. Far be it for her to pry — she's never done it for those they've rescued and she has no intention of doing it here.

But it doesn't make her any less fascinating nor does it decrease her attraction. ]

You don't have to please me. I'm just wondering about what I can do to make you enjoy yourself even more. Your attempts are good— doubt you'd be settling in in this wild world if you weren't adapting! But we should indulge a bit more once in a while, aye? Like on my nameday.

What if we wrote a play together? Would you like that?

Now if you are, I suppose I can share opinion on reading material, but that is simply not a skill I have.

You're right in that "Doctor Megumi", the healer, doesn't write. But if you ever find yourself looking at the works of Hana Hoshino , Prismaket's Favourite Fantasy Writer—

— we might just know someone who can certainly write something to suit an aspiring theater participant, aye?

[Perne cocks an eyebrow, thinking Megumi sounds more like a shady merchant than anything else. That's a dangerous skill to have, too—that ability to sell something. She would make a good Ishgardian, truthfully.

At least, that is what the elezen suspects. Deception would look good on her.]

I believe you are implying that you want to write a play and would wish me to star in it.

[She's still looking over the collection of some of her written works. A decent amount of it are things she hasn't read before, but to be fair, most of her reading in Lunatia has been nonfictional works revolving around Lunatian information.

She's never been against a bit of bodice-ripping in her stories, however...]
