[ The stream goes live with two men standing in front of the camera. They both look a little stiff in front of it, though the bearded man seems more relaxed and casual while the taller one seemed a little . . . frowny ]

Greetings, my name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. And this is my compatriot and partner, Anakin Skywalker. We hail from Coruscant and are part of the Jedi Order.

The Jedi are keepers of peace … most of the time.

[ Before Obi-Wan can say anything, Anakin looks over at him with a shrug. ]

I’m just saying.

[ Obi-Wan sighs. ]

Yes. Well, nevertheless. We would like to offer our services to the public. We’ve been trained in negotiation, trade and, yes, the art of a good fight. If you need support or bereft of someone to help you . . . then we’re happy to serve.

And blowing things up. We’re good at that too!

[ Obi-Wan looks skyward as if imploring a higher deity. ]

Yes. We’re good at that too.

The Jedi, ah, don't practice attachments. I don't think I've ever run into a cuddle situation.

[halforc]

Oh, so is it a religious order you're with that stops that sort of, ahem, thing?

[jedies]

[ obi-wan grimaces slightly. ]

You could say that. It's not as though we have a ban on physical contact.

[ the jedi are not celibate and can pursue pleasure, if they choose. ]

But we're not allowed to have certain relationships.

[halforc]

That sounds like a less than fun way to live your life. [ Not that he's sex-mad, but that just seems harsh. ] May I ask, how are you holding up in this realm? If you're still following the guidelines of your religion.

[jedies]

[ he smiles, used to that line of thought. ]

Not too shabby. People are kind enough to lend a hand and my apprentice is here to help out.

[halforc]

[ What a pleasant human, is his main thought while they talk. ]

If you need any further help, my name is Fjord. When I arrived here I thought I would crystallise from a lack of contact, it took a while to find my footing but now that I have and I'm in a position to assist others, I'd like to.

[jedies]

[ the corners of his eyes crinkle and he inclines his head politely. ]

That is very generous of you. I hope I wouldn't be putting you out. I'm afraid my skills are, as I said, less than optimal.

[halforc]

Oh, not at all! [ Just two polite British gents fussing now. ] I have more than enough Chroma and I'm a Sanguis, it increases exponentially under my moon.

[ He's a green beef bank of feel-good vibes. ]

May I just say out of left-field, you've grown yourself a very fine beard there.

[ Well, Obi-Wan has. And he's nice, so he deserves some compliments. ]

[jedies]

[ he chuckles, surprised by the compliment and works on deflecting it. ]

Thank you. Yours is rather impressive as well.

[halforc]

[ Look who's chuffed to have someone recognise his hard work. ]

Thank you, Kenobi. It took a while, half-orcs don't usually have facial hair, but I'm rather pleased. There's a certain spa around Level Two that sells the most wonderful beard-oil, [ his lips twitch on a teasing smile, ] that is, if Jedi aren't opposed to spoiling themselves now and then.

[jedies]

It isn't our way. But there's no rule against it.

[ and it's unlikely obi-wan will lose his head over beard oil. a spa though. that does sound relaxing. and it's been months since they've dealt with the war back in their galaxy. surely it couldn't hurt. even maul had disappeared, though that's never a good sign. ]

[halforc]

Well, as a holy man of the Wildmother I can tell you're in need of healing, so you ought to come for an afternoon to at least try out the spa.

[ What a seamless fib, he can sense as much as a potato. ]

Your, ah, apprentice is welcome to join us as well.

[jedies]

[ that is an interesting remark. subtle, too because he's not wrong but obi-wan's not sure if he wants to acknowledge the right of it. still, obi-wan smiles before shooting anakin a tired look. ]

I doubt he can sit still long enough for the spa.

[halforc]

How long have you had him?

[ Like you would a puppy. ]

[jedies]

[ his smile is rueful. ]

Technically, he graduated from me three years ago.

[halforc]

[ ... Aww. ]

His attachment to you shows great commitment to your cause, surely. You must have taught him well.

[jedies]

[ his smile falters at the word "attachment" but the moment is brief. ]

I did the best I could.

[halforc]

[ Jedi do seem to give off a stricter air than most (Obi-Wan does, at least). Fjord finds he isn't opposed to the idea of helping loosen him up. ]

And now you're both here. Would the Jedi consider accidental deployment like this a mission?

[jedies]

Sometimes, though I don't think they'd begrudge me time off.

[halforc]

Oh, so you are allowed a holiday. I'm a little surprised, your broadcast sounded so solemn.

[jedies]

Jedi come to serve. And it's true, we don't usually have time off on our hands.

[ save for that one comic where obi-wan had time at the beach. ]

And . . . I suppose I do have a habit of choosing service over myself.

[halforc]

When was the last time you went on holiday, Kenobi?

[jedies]

[ oh. uhhh. ]

Maybe . . . five years ago? Possibly six.

[halforc]

Are you free tomorrow, barring anyone throwing themselves on your charitable offer?

[jedies]

I should be available.

[ no one seems to be battering at their doors for requests which is a pleasant change, albeit odd. obi-wan is so used to being needed, thrown into one conflict and into the next.

perhaps he's just as bad as anakin, not knowing what to do in peacetime. ]
