Greetings, my name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. And this is my compatriot and partner, Anakin Skywalker. We hail from Coruscant and are part of the Jedi Order.

The Jedi are keepers of peace … most of the time.

[ Before Obi-Wan can say anything, Anakin looks over at him with a shrug. ]

I’m just saying.

[ Obi-Wan sighs. ]

Yes. Well, nevertheless. We would like to offer our services to the public. We’ve been trained in negotiation, trade and, yes, the art of a good fight. If you need support or bereft of someone to help you . . . then we’re happy to serve.

And blowing things up. We’re good at that too!

[ Obi-Wan looks skyward as if imploring a higher deity. ]

Yes. We’re good at that too.

Did the two of you coordinate that sales pitch? You might want to offer evidence... a story or two to back yourselves up.

[He knows a few from Luke, mostly about Obi-wan, his master, but there were anecdotes about his grandfather. Everything else he knew about Anakin Skywalker had been more about Vader. He wanted to know about Anakin Skywalker - about the both of them.]

And I suppose we don't lack in stories. Why?

Fair. Though if you want anyone to take you up on your services, you'll want to give them a reason to. No one here has even heard of the Jedi Order.

I am aware. Which is why I listed a few of our qualities rather than details of our reputation.

[ obi-wan eyes him. ]

Of course, but it would help to narrow it down.

You underestimate people's desire to listen to stories of - what was it he said? Ah, blowing things up. He sounds like he has a few exciting things to tell.

[How does he even go about this? He might be stalling a bit on the 'I'm named after you and that's my grandfather who wants to talk about blowing things up' bit.]

Hm. Think of it this way. If you were in their shoes, wouldn't stories of maybe battles you've fought or places you've been sound interesting?

The Jedi sound like the Crownsguard of the Dwendalian Empire, although I've never known them to be so ... helpful.

[ The exact opposite, really. Fjord folds his arms, curious and light with a tease. ]

What kind of negotiations would you be assisting in? This realm has a very unique set of problems, most of the time.

It depends on the nature of the problem.

[ obi-wan runs a hand through his beard. ]

We've helped with all kinds of agreements. Between planets, states or even local disagreements.

I think you may be over-qualified for chroma cuddling, Mister Jedi.

Under qualified, more likely.

The Jedi, ah, don't practice attachments. I don't think I've ever run into a cuddle situation.

Oh, so is it a religious order you're with that stops that sort of, ahem, thing?

... "Coruscant", hmm? That makes another world that's new to me, though I am sure you've heard that a hundred times by now.

The Jedi order... Negotiation, trade, combat - almost sounds like the Paladins of my own world.

Oh, uh. My name is Pidonus, I'm, among other things, a Bard. Where I'm from, that means magic through music, negotation, and... "The art of a good fight" was it?

It means I love learning about other worlds, most importantly. If you're up to talk the subject, of course.

Magic through music? How does that work?

The flippant explanation is "I sing or play the right song while focusing the right thoughts, and things happen." Some of the specific effects I can do through dancing, but that's the fundament.

One step deeper... Has it been explained to you how supernatural powers, in spite of the vast difference in origins in our respective worlds, still function here? In my case, I'm able to cast what I know as "arcane" magic from a modest repertoire of spells, the same as on my home world, even though there doesn't seem to be a Weave here in the same way as I'm used to - the Weave being a set of fundamental energy currents that power most sorts of magic where I'm from.

Of course, a lot of these terms, you may not have context for at all - or they may mean different things. I've no way to know until I speak on it - and learn from other's stories, ideally. At least, when I get the chance.

A bard?

I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar.

... From what I've seen, that immediately tells me your world is far, far more advanced than mine. Probably broadcast for music, storytelling, and the like?

In my age, we don't have any tech like that. What we had were bards - travelers like myself who bring song and dance to people. Many bards, myself included, double as adventurers - helping people fight dragons, bandits, that sort of thing.

I'm going to guess 'Paladin' has little meaning to you, as well?

[jedies]

I'm familiar with paladins, though we don't have those around.

[ at least he doesn't think so. the galaxy is vast so who knows? ]

How does a bard help in adventures?

Well, there certainly are plenty of situations that happen here where people who can fight are needed.

[Case in point: last month. Or the month before that. Or several of the months before that. ]

Are you two the only Jedi that are here right now? Or at least the only two that you know about?

[Her own groups numbers sure have... well, diminished since she first arrived, after all. ]

I believe there is another, but we're the only two from our Order.

[ rey is a jedi certainly, but she doesn't hail from their time period. ]

I see. There was another person I knew who was here a while back who was also a Jedi, but she's been gone for a while.

[ And there only being one other here would explain why she hadn't really heard much about them since Kerra left, but considering the similar missions that keyblade wielders and Jedi have that's also not unexpected. ]

I don't know what type of offers you're going to get from this message, but you might also want to consider coordinating with the Moon Knights. At least for the the more widespread issues that happen that could use someone who can fight. Or blow stuff up for that matter.

The Moon Knights seem more militaristic. I would rather avoid falling under that umbrella.

[ which feels hypocritical, but obi-wan would prefer to operate alone. ]

Well, at least that means my skills won't go rusty. How often are there situations like that?

Honestly? Almost monthly. There are some months when nothing happens, but they're really the exception that proves the rule.

I guess Obi-Wan I will be staying busy then. And here I thought we'd get a vacation.
