Would anyone happen to have any advice on how to handle excessive shedding? My pet and I are making so much of a mess of the apartment right now that I can hardly keep up with cleaning it all.

[ He doesn't actually consider his Arcanine like a "pet" but he has no other real way of knowing what else to call his Pokemon without it leading to questions. ]

I'm also wondering if it's supposed to be limited to fur or if shedding includes losing normal hair for Moonblessed.

[ Please say it's just because of the fur and his body is confusing one for the other. He doesn't want to hear that he's shedding AND balding. ]

Oh no! You must have a fair amount of fur; are you keeping well-hydrated or brushing... at all?
I'm sorry, that sounds a little strange. Best to catch it where you can than let it run amok, however.
I don't typically lose too much from the tail that I get during the moons, but I do have two large pets and it's about the best lesson I've learned to manage their shedding.

I have only ever seen people lose their "natural hair" during more extreme changes, specifically those with scales or other such skin textures. It has always returned.
Are you all right? I'm a local doctor, if I can be of any further assistance or answer any other questions.

I wouldn't say I've gained an excessive amount myself since my changes are the simple addition of a tail, but regularly brushing a tail isn't something I'm used to. My pet however has a lot of fur which is proving the most difficult to manage. We're both remaining regularly hydrated though so I don't think that's the problem?

I have to be honest for a second I wasn't sure if seeing a human doctor would be an option. Would I also need a veterinarian?

No, it certainly takes getting used to; staying hydrated means healthy roots (and everything else), so it's less likely for hair or fur to fall out in excess.
It is currently the Spring season so it may just be shedding of a winter coat, if that's something your pet develops.
As someone with two winter-coated dogs, all I can say is daily brushing and daily vacuuming, haha.

For yourself, a human doctor is just fine if all you've done is sprout a tail or ears. Though I have to say many biological similarities exist between humans and animals, so a human doctor is better than no doctor at all if your pet needs attention as well.
I know I would at least be confident in most basic care or injury treatment with a bit of imaging equipment to doublecheck their anatomy.

I'd never actually known that fact so thank you for telling me. I'll make sure to keep a closer eye on our water intake then. And somehow it had completely slipped my mind to make the connection of our condition to spring, so again thank you for your input! I suppose I'm used to my pet's normal schedule of shedding, which is far different than it is now, due to the difference in climate I'm sure. He also would shed far less than he does now. I of course have never shed before, so this brings a lot to my awareness.

Since your expertise has been very helpful I'm wondering if you would be available for a proper consultation? I have to admit I haven't seen a doctor in quite some time and I'd like to make sure all this moonphase nonsense isn't affecting me physically. I'm trying not to overeat, but admittedly, it's difficult at times.

I promise that I do literally mean he's my pet. He's actually an animal, not a person. Technically he's a Pokemon but I know not everyone here is familiar with Pokemon.

Is there something wrong with my username? People make usernames that describe them and mine describes me.

You can count me among those who are unfamiliar with Pokemon. Though is his shedding not something you've had to deal with in the past?

There's nothing wrong with it, it's just uncannily similar to a phrase my partner uses.

No harm done. I'm only glad to clear up any confusion. My pet does shed normally, but it tends to be very minimal. We come from a region that has a tendency to remain relatively cool throughout the year. Even our summers aren't that warm, so he retains his full coat through many months.

Oh, is it? I have to commend him then, I enjoy it! I have an affinity to fire, and while I'm rather old I like to imagine I have a very lively spirit still. Both of those details were what came to mind when I decided to create this username.

Oh! I know what you're talking about now. I think I saw something like that in someone's apartment that I visited. It was moving around on the floor. I had no idea it was a vacuum and just thought it was something like a futuristic toy car.

I'm in full agreement! However even though I've settled with this being a possibility in the future, I don't think I'm ready for that sort of change yet. This is all far too sudden!

One of the guys I know who sheds a lot has a little machine in his apartment. It helps with picking up stray fur.

What kind of animal do you turn into? Shedding is normal especially during the spring. It won't make you bald unless you're sick.

Would it be the roomba I'm discussing currently with another person? I do have a vacuum at hand but it tends to end up emptied on a frequent basis. I also currently have to take care of laundry every day during my particular moonphase since the fur and hair ends up on my blankets and pillow.

I turn into a fox. If it's seasonal changes that would make a lot of sense, I just didn't expect it to be so much and to coincide with my pet's shedding as well.

If you're a fox then it's just that canines tend to shed a lot. What kind of animal is your pet? Are they a canine too? Then that's double the fur.

I think a roomba is your best bet. Even if you have to empty it out frequently, it's probably the only easy option besides ignoring your fur and dealing with a pile up. Shedding season is a huge pain...in school fur would get all over the dorms even when everyone did their best to groom themselves. Large canines shed the worst of any animal, I find.

I'm learning more about my options technology-wise, which is very helpful. I'm just unsure if I'll have the means to buy the right equipment. I tend to not gather very much Chroma.

I don't either, but there are people here who are kind enough to help out in that department when you're in a pinch, thankfully.

[Even if it is kind of awkward if you end up doing an hour-long hand holding session or... stuff to get the Chroma you need...]
