fifth ☕✨ tinder / moonlacing mingle!
( Ping! Your profile needs updating, there's hot singles in your area, it's a swipe frenzy— you all know the push updates with dating apps, right? Maybe you need to brush up your Chroma to buy a place in Amegahara and it just sounds like it's worth a shot, or someone gets ahold of your device and "helps" you along. Upload some new selfies with that new Moonblessing of yours, drop in an About Me, and get to swiping!
And Please— someone please come up with a better name than Prismates because the moons alone make sure we're more than just mammals and no one's obligated to do it like they do on the Discovery Channel. We all know the drill by now, don't we? Swipe right or left, yes or no, mark yourself down to moonlace and flirt or just rile a friend up with a big red X— try to include an opening message! Happy Hump Day? )

Abel ☆ Starfighter ☆ Iris
likes: motorcycles, plants, reptiles, desserts, video games, piano
dislikes: fighting/sparring
[yeah okay, he's been single and mopey for long enough can't hurt right? wheres the mens]

I like a lot of those. I'm not a pilot but a starship Captain, and I've been learning how to cook too. Sadly don't have a bike yet, but I'm working on that.
Is the bike you have from home?
no subject
[Joking. He's joking. Mostly. Iris is at it's peak.]
Unfortunately my bike is still back home, where I left it. Picked up what I guess you could call a junker here, been fixing it up in my free time.
no subject
[ All fine and well with him in a flirty, playful context, not so much if Abel actually means it. He's leaning towards the former, though. Hopefully. ]
Oh, but that sounds pretty exciting too. How's that been going so far? Have you managed to make it work yet?
no subject
[It's easier to be a bit forward, even jokingly, over text- he'd probably not make the same comment in person. But there's no real harm done either way, so long as Jim doesn't take offense.]
And it runs, but I don't think I'd have much confidence taking it out for any lengthy trips just yet. But it's nice, having a project to work on. It's no starship, but it's something.
no subject
But if you do know where I can try and get my hands on anything, even a short-distance shuttle, do let me know. Being grounded all the time is driving me a little crazy.
no subject
Hard not to wonder how many are familiar enough with ships to build something though, but it would obviously take a long time before it would be of any use. There are some used to shuttle people to and from the moons, it wouldn't entirely be starting from scratch.
[idle pondering mostly, but he maaaay have arrived with the entire schematics for a starfighter on him. not that a compact two person fighter ship was all that useful, or information he'd freely share, but it definitely left him daydreaming more often than not.]
no subject
I've actually been thinking of asking what are the chances that I can pilot one of those shuttles, myself. Even if all I can do is fly to and from the moons, I wouldn't mind that. I'd be happy enough to take people back and forth.
no subject
[man what he'd give to check out the enterprise though. that's a good dream, toiling away in engineering all day, warmed by the glow of the warp core. ahh.]
Like to the moons. I'm sure with your experience it wouldn't be that difficult finding a piloting position. I do a little work on those ships myself, maintenance, repair, along with some other things around the city. Still have a lot to learn, but it's been enjoyable.
[he's not really a front lines kinda guy without a ship but at least a little greasemonkey work made him feel like he was still contributing, ensuring the safety of prismals and moonblessed alike. all he'd wanted to do when he'd joined the alliance.
little iffy now with all the discontent going around, but he'd do his job however long he got to keep it.]
no subject
[ He does hope he can do both that, and get a job with the Lunar Scientia. No harm in asking, anyway. ]
So is there any chance you can show me the inside of those shuttles, sometime? Sounds like fun. I'm not an exceptionally skilled engineer, but I do well enough. I know what not to touch, if nothing else.
no subject
[it's not that bad but while he was pretty well read in mechanical sorts of technology there was that pesky element of magic here too sometimes- and knowing how to work on the ships back home didn't mean he'd understand the ones here.]
Frequent trips are made to and from the moons though, if you'd like a more practical sort of tour. There's not much to see outside the government centers but we're not restricted in visiting or looking around. Can't say I remember much from my own arrival so it's nice to have the option to return.
[he should look into joining the cargo ships that deliver to the moons tbh]
no subject
[ Look, he's not gonna play coy about it. Like he ever plays coy about anything. But anyway. ]
Your bike should be interesting enough. If you're willing to let me check it out, that is. Promise not to touch anything without permission?
no subject
Back on track.]
I think that can be arranged.
Never really a dull moment in the city, I'm sure we can find something to get into.
(no subject)

You have a bike?
( be still his doki )
no subject
[it's really not that bad, but she's no brand new fancy ride either.]
Did you have one back home?
no subject
Sort of? It was a hoverbike, not a motorcycle, but in theory, it's the same. How's the fixing up coming along?
no subject
But it's coming along pretty well. Runs, at least.
no subject
( buuuuuuuuuuuut(t)... )
Want any help with it?
no subject
That depends. Did you work on engines or just ride?
no subject
Work on them. Did that a lot between teaching classes at the Garrison.
no subject
And a teacher, seems like you were a pretty busy guy.
[it's mildly hilarious that they've played grabass and abel is now learning things about him.]
Help sounds nice though, maybe we can turn it into a hoverbike after all.
no subject
If they have the right parts here it might not be outside the realm of possibility 😊
no subject
Nice to think about, anyway.
Have you been settling in okay?
[another moon cycle had come and gone and triple moon was only a few days off- abel was smack dab in the middle of hell week himself (seriously who's great idea was it to have iris and trip moon back to back) and couldn't help but be curious.]
no subject
hm. )
More or less, I think. How are you doing?
( right now, he means. he knows iris doesn't have it easy. )
no subject
I'm fine. Been here long enough to know what to expect.
[i.e. he did his shopping during cordis so he could just hole up in the house and try to keep the stranger manhandling to a minimum. text made it just as easy to lie as it did to be brave, forward, but in the general sense he was fine.]
Long enough to know most of the city too, if you're looking for recommendations. Well, in a few days, maybe.
[lying and being brave! with possibly the worst invite to a sort of maybe date ever but he's bad at this even on his better days.]
