I wouldn't be opposed to discussing it, or even practicing it. Demichroma does require a bit of finesse to use, but seasoned magic users should find it easy to apply and get used to. [ A pause. ]

really? good to know, i thought i needed straight chroma for it. demichroma shouldn’t be hard to come across

depends on the enchantment

but essentially i cast a spell on an object to imbue it with an ability permanently
one of my first magical streams was textile magic, where you literally weave the magic into the fabric of your clothes

minor spells do things like adjust a t-shirt to your body temperature requirements - cold when you’re too hot and hot when you’re too cold, that sort of thing

major spells do things like keep people from noticing you or protecting you from attacks

Well you do still need chroma for its application, but I think mixing it with one's own magic makes the burden less so on the user. Or, well, that's what I've found has worked.

And how much would it cost to get something like that? Perhaps an enchantment that acts like a, ah, shield of sorts?

I'd be interested in seeing how it works too, if that's not a problem?

depends what you want shielded

the more generalized the shield, the more expensive, because I have to account for all variables

so, for example, a spell that protects you from fire is relatively easy, but on that would stop flame and a bullet and a lightning bolt basically requires three spells in one - still doable, but takes more components and more time

with the right components, though, i can make something that would stop just about anything

especially if you happen to have access to something like Kevlar

even a tiny scrap of it can give me what i need to reinforce it a lot more than a similar scrap of steel would, but i can make do with just about anything

the price would be whatever the chroma required to cast the spell would be, plus 10 percent, and you supply the components unless it’s something common that i already have access to

Just about anything? So something like that is possible, fascinating.

I was interested in perhaps making something that would protect against elemental magical attacks. Absorb them...maybe, or even fire them back at the enemy. Though I'm sure something of that nature would take time and is probably much harder than what you've proposed.

Would demichroma in dust or solid form suffice as materials to help make this possible?

yeah, i mean, if there's magic designed to break the ward, then obviously it won't protect against that, but

not to blow my own horn, i've yet to see someone break my wards on their own


i can definitely make something that'll absorb energy, but i'll have to pass on making it fire the attacks back. i'm a pacifist - protective magic only, nothing offensive. sorry about that

i haven't tried using demichroma, but honestly i don't see why not?

That's fine as well. I respect those who wish to keep to their values, and wouldn't want them to break them for something like this.

Demichroma is a fascinating thing here. It can be imbued and imparted on all manners of clothing and weaponry. I would suggest you do give it a look. Perhaps it might inspire you for some other ideas.
