I want to learn about meditation
I'm considering it for Sanguis

Give me anger-management ideas if you have any
Something that isn't punching people

Thanks.

[ It's all a matter of not caring what you look like while dancing, really. ]

More reason to start and learn then. You won't know if you enjoy it until you try it.

Staying focused on learning new steps might keep you from thinking about what made you lose your temper.

[ Peter's an expert when it comes to trying to help people to have fun and relax, so he's not giving up so easily. ]

Oh man, where do I even start? I know quite a lot of dances and moves myself, there's just so many to pick a favorite. There's Hip-hop, Disco, Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep... Then there's just moves: The Bump Dance, the Hustle, the Bus Stop, anything done by the Jackson or Madonna...

Since you're new to this, I'd usually recommend starting with something slow but if you really want to work on anger-management, then something fast and quick will help you more. Ala Footloose.

Dancing it's something that needs to be seen, though, I can't really explain the moves to you through text.
spacedisaster: (Aww yes)

[ True that. ]

They're dance genres and movements, give me a second...

[ So he an turn on the video. There's a man with curly strawberry blond hair giving the camera a short wave and a smile. ]

Hello! I'm Peter Quill but around the galaxy they know me as Star-Lord. At your service.
spacedisaster: (Oh hello there ~)

Incredible

[ Peter can handle text, he figures out the other person is just shy or something. And apparently japanese? ]

Likewise. Just Peter is fine, really.

I was thinking about showing you one of the steps I was talking about before. We could start with the moonwalk, it's easy enough to master.

I know how to do it with my boots on but for beginners, it would be better if you are only wearing socks. It would make it easier to glide across the floor. I'll explain the steps in a moment but the movement is this one..

[ Peter is his living room and the floors are clear so it doesn't take him more than a few seconds to do the moonwalk. He disappears from view while doing so but shows up again a moment later. ]

Ever seen that one before?
spacedisaster: (I hear trouble)

It shows

[ But technology can also be taught, so Peter's going to try. ]

Okay, Peter-san then. What's your name? And do you see a button on the screen that resembles a videocamera? If you click it maybe I'll be able to see you too.

Depends on how good you are at following steps. The common mistake that people make while trying to do this move is not keeping the right heel on the ground.

Let's go step by step. First you put all your weight on the ball of the foot you intend to keep still. Then all you do is slide your other foot backwards. The trick is to keep one foot flat, push back with the ball of your other foot, and slide back with your flat-foot heel to the ground.

[ Sounds like a handful while explained, so Peter is going to do the movement veeeeery slowly for him to see. ]

Hello there. A pleasure to meet you, Doumeki.

[ It's not a terrible deadpan expression, Peter was already expecting someone serious and polite. But the fact that the other man is willing to try dancing is a good sign. His girlfriend also sprouts dog ears for the same reason so, after the initial surprise, Peter realizes that they're both Sanguis. ]

The camera is a little too close, man, so I couldn't see your feet. Maybe leave the communicator bracelet on top of a table or a shelf and take a few steps back?
spacedisaster: (They know me as Star Lord)

[ Aw, poor man. Well not everyone is as easily excited about dancing as Peter is. But Doumeki is still attempting to dance, so props to him, even if the angle isn't perfect. ]

That's a good start! Just be careful with your balance. You seem like a tall guy, so increase the width between your legs and feet until you feel stable. If you feel more secure on your feet that will help you move quickly the next time. Why don't you repeat this movement a couple of time and then I'll show you the next step?

[ It's a bit like trying to teach Drax how to dance, so Peter can manage. Excited or not, Doumeki has yet to hang up on him. ]

Now the next steps, it shouldn't be too hard.

[ Peter makes sure his own camera is also angled right first. Then he explains the movements to finish the whole dance and does them himself to show Doumeki the right position to place his feet. ]

It looks a bit sillier without music but it's a fun move and it usually gets people to smile when you do it right. Or it impresses them.
spacedisaster: (I mustache you a question)

[personal profile] spacedisaster 2020-07-03 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ If only Drax were here. Seeing these two interact would be something. ]

I don't recommend you using this as a conversation opener but it can be a fun thing to do when you're hanging out with friends or just being silly.

[ If Doumeki is capable of such a thing. ]

Even if you only do it in private, focussing on getting the steps right will help to forget about the anger and other things troubling you.
