004 » Video; UN: Persephone
[ This is something Persephone probably should have done a few months ago.
There is a very pink young woman on the screen. She gives a sheepish little wave as she smiles.
] Hello, my name is Persephone and I'm the Goddess of Spring back home. Yes, I'm an actual goddess, it's not just a title. Yes, I am as pink as I appear, I'm not sunburned. [ Her gaze drifts away from the camera as ticks off things that have been brought up to her. Her tone is cheerful. ] And yes, for the humans from various different versions of Earth, I am the Persephone of Greek Myth. But the stories you know are wrong...to an extent. If you have any questions pertaining to that I'll do my best to answer them.
Also, you don't have to treat me special or anything just because I'm a goddess! I'm really normal aside from the fact I randomly grow flowers in my hair sometimes. [ It's really not that random. ]
A-anywho! I'm making this post for a reason beyond that. One, I'm curious if there are any other deities from other worlds here. I've met one and spoke with another, though I believe she's gone now. If you are a deity I'm curious how being here has affected your abilities. I-if you wish to share, that is!
For anyone else, I'd like to hear about the gods of your world. If you have them.
Thanks!

[Work in... shifts? Like a job? Do... do gods from Earth get to clock out and go home at the end of the day??]
What would they be doing if not that? Actually, what does the goddess of springtime do once spring is over?

[ That's very much how things work in her world. The gods run things like a business. ]
Well, my mother's been taking care of most of my duties since I'm still really young and left the Mortal Realm shortly before arriving here. But when I wasn't making flowers bloom I was busy studying. And what little downtime I did have was spent with flower nymphs picking berries and swimming.

[Yeah, that sounds like... normal Young Person stuff. Pretty normal person stuff in general, honestly.]
I see what you mean. A few of the gods from my world used to be mortals, but I don't think most of the gods ever had "childhoods" in the human sense. Or if they did, it was so long ago that no one could possibly remember.

I don't think any of the older gods are old enough to have forgotten their childhoods. Not that they had particularly pleasant childhoods to begin with.

[If you believe religious scripture, anyway. Lilias is willing to bet the faithful like to embellish the legends of their favoured deities to make them seem more venerable and ancient― as though even the youngest god isn't plenty ancient enough by human standards already.]

[If that's how things are on Earth, she can see why a god could seem so human. The gods of Golarion are truly ancient.]

However, there have still been many powerful and advanced civilizations throughout the ages, and I believe mastery of magic on my homeworld is at least as developed as it is here, if not more. There's just no infrastructure for it to be available to the public.
no subject
I see. Outside of the realm of the gods, I don't believe magic is all that common.

Why were you raised in the mortal realm? Is it usual for gods to live there?
[With no technology and no magic, wouldn't the world where she comes from just be full of wilderness, farms, and the occasional smelly town? That sounds far from ideal. Actually, it sounds unbelievably tedious.]

[ That's basically the world she knew in a nutshell. Well, smaller than that even. She knew a peaceful valley hidden away from the prying eyes of mortals. ]

[It's a bit strange to toss around the word "god" so liberally in a conversation with someone who, as far as Lilias can tell, very much sounds like a normal young woman. She really wasn't kidding about that. The idea of any god from Lilias's own world coming to this one at the whim of some magical moon would be utterly ridiculous.]

Hades though... I've spent a little time with him. He seems really scary at first but he's actually really kind.
[ There's a short pause because she really misses him. ]
Oh! He also has eight dogs. They're all really adorable!
no subject
Are they special, divine dogs?
no subject
Cerberus ensures Shades don't leave the Underworld, but the rest of his dogs are pretty normal.

How novel... I wish I could be more enlightening when it comes to the gods of my world, but I've never met any of them, and religious studies was never really my area.
[She knows general things about the most popular deities, but beyond that it would all be conjecture.]
no subject
That's okay. Even I don't know everything.

If you are ever curious about some other area, in which I might have actual experience, I will be happy to be of more assistance. I have a great deal of experience in doing ordinary human things, and also some in magic, swordsmanship, and the brewing of mead.
no subject
Oh, wow. I am curious about magic. How does it differ from this world?
no subject
[She doesn't really want to get into too much detail, especially since she can't do any demonstrations to illustrate her point over a voice call.]
In my world, the gods will also grant magic abilities to their most devoted followers, in order to strengthen their influence on the mortal world.
no subject
I have heard that in some worlds the gods grant magic to their followers. That still seems a little odd to me.
no subject
What about it seems strange?
