004 » Video; UN: Persephone

[ This is something Persephone probably should have done a few months ago.

There is a very pink young woman on the screen. She gives a sheepish little wave as she smiles.

] Hello, my name is Persephone and I'm the Goddess of Spring back home. Yes, I'm an actual goddess, it's not just a title. Yes, I am as pink as I appear, I'm not sunburned. [ Her gaze drifts away from the camera as ticks off things that have been brought up to her. Her tone is cheerful. ] And yes, for the humans from various different versions of Earth, I am the Persephone of Greek Myth. But the stories you know are wrong...to an extent. If you have any questions pertaining to that I'll do my best to answer them.

Also, you don't have to treat me special or anything just because I'm a goddess! I'm really normal aside from the fact I randomly grow flowers in my hair sometimes. [ It's really not that random. ]

A-anywho! I'm making this post for a reason beyond that. One, I'm curious if there are any other deities from other worlds here. I've met one and spoke with another, though I believe she's gone now. If you are a deity I'm curious how being here has affected your abilities. I-if you wish to share, that is!

For anyone else, I'd like to hear about the gods of your world. If you have them.

I'm not sure if I can carry someone else with me. I've never tried...

[ She looks thoughtful. In theory, it could work. Her strength is enough that she could probably easily do so if she did it a try. ]

You can try carrying me if you'd like. Then if you needed to let go, it wouldn't be a problem.

That's not a bad idea. Though...it's not very practical to carry someone every time I want to fly around.

Is there anyone here that you would be comfortable becoming friends with benefits with? Sex does produce far more Chroma than hugging, but it's not for everyone.

[ Her cheeks instantly begin to burn hot pink. She quickly fumbles with her communicator to switch it to private. ]

Th-there was but... [ Her gaze drifts off to the side as she frowns.

After a moment she shrugs. ]

It's kind of complicated for me... I'm trying to figure some stuff and maybe I'll manage with someone else?

[There's some hesitation there, and Kagura can only guess from what she's talked about with Persephone before.]

Is it the eternal maidenhood thing? No one is going to expect you to uphold that here.

That was part of it not entirely.

[ She shifts uncomfortably where she's sitting, looking for something to do with her hands. ]

What about the rest?

[ She silent for a few moments, lips pressed together in a tight line. She can't bring herself to look back at the camera. Even though she's had a chance to tell Apollo off for his bullshit it's still difficult to talk about. ]

I was...hurt by someone shortly before I arrived here. I thought that...that maybe I was past it.

[It's not that hard to infer what she means by hurt, given the rest of the conversation and the moment Persephone chose to switch over to private.]

I see. If that someone were to show up here, how would you prefer that they die? Stabbing, air deprivation...?

[ Her head immediately snaps up, eyes wide. ]

N-no!

A more creative death, then? I can respect that.

[ She shakes her head. ]

Th-that's not what I want! I don't want him dead. I... I...

[ If Kagura looks closely she'll notice red thorned vines beginning to creep around Persephone's head and red beginning to bleed into the whites of her eyes. ]

I want him to suffer.

[Oh, now that's interesting. She's never seen Persephone do that before, but she approves of this display of wrath.

In return, she offers a little smile, simultaneously full of reassurance and malice.]

That can be arranged. What is the bastard's name and what does he look like?

[ She blinks and snaps out of it fairly quickly. The red fades from her eyes though the vines remain, forming something of a crown. ]

He's not here so none of that matters.

In that case, I'll just offer some general advice: the more you know about him, the more you can personalize his suffering.

My progenitor was a complete and utter bastard, but I did learn a few useful things from him.

His car and his lyre are two of his most prized possessions. I damaged both and even then it didn't seem to be enough.

[ There's more she could do, she knows that. She could tell people what happened, but she's afraid of ruining her relationship with Artemis or what could come of it if she tells anyone. What would happen to her scholarship? What would Hestia do? What would her mother do? She could potentially lose all her freedom for something that wasn't her fault. ]

Possessions are replaceable. What does he pride himself on the most? What does he fear?

He was pretty broken up about the lyre, being the God of Music and all that.

[ Not broken up enough to not make threats about forcing her to marry him, though. ]

A lot, really. How he's also the God of the Sun and Medicine. His status as an Olympian means a lot to him. [ She doesn't even know where to begin in dismantling that. ]

Public humiliation might cause him more suffering.

Maybe, but I wouldn't even know where to begin. And to top it off I would likely end up punished for it.

Well, I don't know how to best make that happen in your world, but if he were ever to wind up here, he automatically does not have the status that he does in your world and you know far more people than he would starting out.

...what would happen if you exposed what he did?

Back home? [ She thinks for a moment. ]

At best he's punished for it. Though given his status he might get off easy.

That's assuming I'm believed.

At worst, I lose a friend and my scholarship. I get kicked out of TGOEM. Possibly my mother decides she was right about letting me go off on my own and locks me up for the next couple of centuries.

What if you quit TGOEM? I remember you telling me it was more of what your mother wanted for you rather than what you wanted for yourself. That would be one less consequence to worry about, and you would be more free.

I've thought about it but they're the ones paying for my schooling. I'd have to find some way to pay that back.

Which I might be able to do with my internship but I'm going to need to save every last bit I'm paid.
