[ The video starts with a blank screen and a muffled sound. The one operating it has yet to get used to such technology. After a little blackness, the screen focuses on the Firbolg. His skin is a sickly grey fuzz, drawn in around the cheeks, a little unhealthily thin but not gaunt. He smiles, both his eyes and the shock of mohawk hair are a very natural-looking pink. When he finally speaks, his voice is has a very low, relaxing timbre to it. ]
Oh, hey there. Is this on? Am I sending or however this works?
[ Turning his comm around a few times until he was back in the frame. ]
I eh, let's start again, shall we? My Name is Mister Clay, Caduceus Clay and I just wanted to offer my services to anyone in need really.
[ Oh God, he's not used to public speaking. This is kind of terrifying. ]
Well, healing magic is my forte, among other things. So, like, yea. If anyone needs any healing or their mind calmed, oh, I can also do that too, calm you. I'll uh, I'll be around and willing to help out. I've heard these moons do strange things to folk, wouldn't want anyone hurting when they don't need to.
[ He pauses for a long moment. Contemplating ending it there before finally adding. ]
Oh, um and, one more thing... If you've seen anything, anyone dying or dead around the place... Give me a shout? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

[ His smile widens, it's so good to know he's getting the hang of this. It's his first time using the comm in this way. ]
Wow, a Star-Lord? Its an honour, truly it is. Lord of the Stars such a grand title, I've never met a Deity that looked so human before. You look real small for a God, but that's okay, I'm not judging. Don't s'pose you know the Storm Lord?
[ Excuse the confusion. Back where Caduceus is from some of the Gods have titles very similar to yours. ]
You did? Well isn't that nice. I dunno if I can make someone fall asleep, never tried but I s'pose it could happen. I can try it on you if you like?
[ As for offering his services, he's totally oblivious to how it might have sounded. The Firbolg is very innocent and pure of both body and mind, he'd probably find it funny though. Besides, there's not going to be that many people interested in an almost 10foot tall (when standing straight) humanoid covered in grey and pink fur now, is there. Is there? ]
Yup. As fresh or not so fresh as they come.
[ You heard it right, unfortunately. ]

[ Peter is surprised that someone is finally taking his nickname seriously. It probably shows in the way his smile brightens. ]
I'm actually only a demi-god but that's not why I am named Star-Lord. I used to travel space with my team, we helped people all around the galaxy and took care of planetary threats. Storm Lord?...ah, no, no by that title. But I do know the God of Thunder, Thor. He joined with my crew a few days ago before I woke up in this city.
[ The thing is, some of Caduceus assumptions aren't wrong and Peter also makes little sense on a daily basis. So it's all good. ]
Yes, her name is Mantis, she has that power and she can also read people's emotions, know how they feel. She's an empath. I appreciate the offer but I am good for now, thank you.
[ He does have nightmares and hasn't slept a full night in days but sharing that is a bit too personal.
Caduceus, you sweet summer child. A lot of people here will indeed be interested in a nice man with a lovely smile. Peter's not big on looks either, he's bedded aliens of all sorts of shapes and colors and his current girlfriend is green. ]
Uh huh....And what do you plan to do with them?
[ Weeeep. ]

I really hope so. I don't have any sending spells so it's this or nothing I guess. Hmm... Nobody's born knowing... Yea, yea I like that.
[ You just gave him something deep to think about next time he's off his face on some fermented fruit. And of course, he's taking the name seriously! Why wouldn't he!? Naive has a picture in the dictionary and it looks this pink dude here. It a fault of his, to take most things that people say at face value. ]
Oh wow, that's eh, that's a lot. So, demi-God, knows a Thunder God looks after the stars. Did I get that right? Is the Galaxy a place or another realm? You take care of planetary threats? That sounds like a big deal, you guys must be really important. I hope the stars are okay while you're here. Such a great loss.
[ Okay, so he's not dumb but he only knows what he knows. This Cleric has had a very sheltered life. He is very interested though! And hopefully, she'd not offending the demi-God too much? ]
I have a really neat thing I can do, kinda like that. My passive perception is, well, it's pretty good. Creepily accurate. Is she here with you or did you leave her in the stars?
[ That's reassuring at least. Not that he's even thought about it too much, but people do keep mentioning that its easy to make Chroma is you're close with someone. ]
Do with what? ... Oh! The bodies? well, bury them, see what grows? I need some more mulch for the garden so decompose them? I'd also love to see if anything interesting comes from the crystals they make. I've never seen a corpse do that before.
[ Loooong pause, just staring and smiling at Peter. ]
I'm a Grave Cleric, dead things are kinda my thing. Is that too creepy? Some people think it's creepy.

It's a good saying. And if tech gives you that much trouble, I could give you a quick course. I'm used to handling these sorts of things. [ It's actually sweet to talk to someone who isn't a cynic and still has come innocence left intact. Peter stopped being like that a long time ago, unfortunately. Around the time he was 8 and his mother died. ]
You got that right. But just call me Peter, that's enough. The Galaxy is a place, all around us, up in the sky. [ Maybe not the best explanation but Peter is trying to keep things simple. ] The rest of my team isn't here so I hope they're doing their job back home, keeping themselves safe and other people out of danger.
[ The blond doesn't think the questions are dumb, they both come from very different backgrounds, it's all. Caduceus reminds him a bit of Mantis when they first mether for that reason, she also had a lot of questions. Peter doesn't know much about magic and absolutely nothing at all about Caduceus's homeworld so he will have some questions of his own as well. ]
Kinda like that? She's not here either, no. I hope she's okay, Mantis can be a bit naive sometimes. And honestly brutal at the same time.
[ Intimate or more willing touches help make more Chroma. So far Peter has been keeping things platonic with anybody who isn't his girlfriend, so it's possible to make Chroma in nonsexual ways such as hugging or tickling someone. Doing it the other way can be more entertaining, though. ]
Yes, the bodies. If they crystalize when someone dies, then I don't think anything will grow out of them. I am also not sure that it would be legal to manhandle bodies like that, even if you are doing it for science. You might end arrested by the Moon Knights.
[ That reply does earn him a more concerned look. Caduceus, honey, what the fuck. ]
A grave Cleric. Is that like a necromancer? As for creepy....well, I died and came back to life so I am really not in any position to judge these things.
no subject
Aw, well, wow, that really nice of you Mister Lord. I'd actually find it really helpful if you would teach me. Thanks.
[ Oh, okay, he literally means that they're protecting the stars. Caduceus can understand that a bit better than. He's just never heard it been called the Galaxy before. ]
I sure do hope they're safe. People who keep people out of danger are a source of relentless use. It would be a shame if they were someplace like this where they couldn't do what they do, do.
[ Just ignore the rambling firbolg, he's kind of excited and giddy to be talking to a demi-god. Though you might not be able to tell, due to his sloth-ish image. The whole Chroma thing was hard for Caduceus, much like Peter's friend Mantis, he too was Naive. ]
You don't think. That's why I'd like to have a go on them. I'm pretty good at making something from nothing. I'd just like to see that's all.
[ Don't worry, everyone has this reaction when they find out he likes to grow and drink things from dead people. It's kinda his deal. ]
Ah, well, not exactly. I mean sure, I do have some necromancy spells and stuff but I tend not to create undead. It's my job to keep the natural balance of life and death equal as possible. I tend to graves and make the earth remember those he died.
[ He pauses for a moment. ]
You're alive now though right? I didn't sense that you were undead and believe me I'd know.
[ He chuckles, smiling that bright smile of his again. ]

lotsa thingsPeter sure as hell tried to teach Drax harder things, like humor. Caduceus can't be as difficult as someone who takes everything literally. Right? ]It won't be a problem at all. It's not as if I can do my Guardian job around here, so I've got plenty of time to teach you the basics. Just let me know when is a good time for you.
[ Sure, the firbolg was just demanding to be handled over corpses to play with over the network but Peter has known people with worse hobbies. The compliment towards the Guadians' hard work gets Caduceus an honest smile. They really don't get recognized al that often. ]
Thank you. They're a strong and stubborn group, they don't give up easily no matter what. Wherever they are, I have faith on their abilities.
[ As far as Demi-gods go, Peter isn't that interesting. He no longer has any of his powers and doesn't regret given them up due to how these came to be, but he doesn't mind Caduceus happy disposition at all. ]
Wouldn't it be easier to grow things out of living organisms? Like plants?
[ Let's hope Caduceus doesn't mind questions because Peter has a few as well. He's not judging the corpse-testing hobby too much, though. He knows that other species don't share the same views of life and death as humans do. ]
Undead people tend to be really unpleasant so it's better to let them rest in peace. Your powers are very interesting, though. As for me, I'm 100% the same way I was before I died. No zombie here, believe me. Would an undead look this dashing?
[ Peter grins back, doing a flourish with his hand to point to his face, just joking. ]
no subject
Ah well then, anytime is a good time for me. I have nothing on. Like ever.
[ That slow-growing smile of his seemed to stretch on forever. ]
They sound a little like my group, actually no they really don't, we don't deal with the stars. But they can be stubborn too and have a whole load of abilities under their sleeves... Or is that up their sleeves? I only have one sleeve so I tend to forget.
[ A Demi-god is a still a Demi-god in Caduceus' eyes. You sir, will forever be very impressive. ]
Oh sure, I do that too. I have a lot of things growing from life, but the things you can grow from death? Hoo boy.
[ If Peter liked to get high, he should hit the firbolg up some time, let him make some tea from the trippy fruit he kept hidden away in his room. As far as questions go, Caduceus really didn't mind. he had nothing to hide and nothing to feel ashamed about. ]
Hmm... Would an undead look so dashing?
[ Bear with him, Peter, while this expression of deep thought truly captures him for about 1 minute solid. Jokes aside he's really giving this some though. ]
No. No, they wouldn't I can't for the life of me think of a single undead that looked as dashing s you. I mean there are a few fairly attractive ones I can think of but nothing like you.
I lost my shit at the bolero song omg
I know how that is...and I also hate it. So, how about next week? [ It's good to know that the other man also has family-friends of his own. and Peter can't help but laughs at the sleeve comment. ] It's 'up their sleeves' but I get what you mean. Even if you don't deal with the stars, troubles and good adventures can be found anywhere. If any of yours around?
[ Caduceus you're so respectful and polite, Peter is used to having gremlin friends that would mock him constantly, not this. ]
I can't say it ever occurred to me to do that, no. Where I come from we just bury the dead or burn them.
[ He's usually content with having a normal drink, not one that will make him trip balls, but if he has no idea what Caduceus puts in his tea then that could happen by accident. Peter is rather amused that Caduceus is considering the questions for that long, it was only a silly remark. ]
It is always an ego boost to know I am less ugly than a rotting corpse.
Beautiful, wasn't it? lol
[ He's genuinely pleased about this! His friend Fjord has been trying to help him use the technology here all to no avail. It's not common in their world so it's like the blind leading the blind. ]
Ah, yea, we journey around, get into trouble, help people out of trouble and sure, we sometimes make trouble for others too. Make a pretty penny doing so, not that I really care for any of that. I eh, I got one of my friends from home here with me. Little green fella, small tusks, dunno if you know him?
[ Fjord actually isn't that small! It's just that when you're pushing 10 foot tall when stood straight up like Caduceus is, you kind of think of most people as smaller than you. Okay, so Peter's not saying no to drinking dead people tea or anything that would make him see cool shit, that's good to know! ]
Ah well, you see, sometimes the dead can shimmer and rot at the same time, very beautiful if you know how to encourage it. There was once an Elven family, I had the pleasure of burying their youngest, grew into the most gorgeous fungus I've ever seen. So yea, being better looking than a corpse is a big compliment from a Grave Cleric!
[ Don't let him ramble, he could ramble for hours about death and mushrooms and creepy, pretty shit. ]
Truly wonderful
Good! We will see how it goes. [ Peter is not a genius with tech like Rocket but he's plenty familiar with it and uses a ton of gadgets. Teaching someone how to use the bracelet will be no problem. Now, it all depends on how perceptive Caduceus really.
He can't help but laugh after the 'we sometimes make trouble for others too' ]
Sounds like your team and mine could be long lost cousins. Can't say I met your friend and trust me I'd remember him. I have an affinity for colorful people, my girlfriend is also green. She doesn't have tusks, though.
[ Jesus, man, that is tall. How does Caduceus even find clothes of his size? Peter's no shortie either but he's 6'2, so that makes him small in comparison.
And he didn't say yes either to drink dead people tea! D:
He makes a face at that story about the elves because it's really sad that the youngest died and also weird that Caduceus talk about it so casually. Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.]
You can't have life without death, it seems. Things need to be balanced. But I've admitted that I've never talked so someone quite like you.-
[ That is a compliment...of sorts. ]
no subject
I'll look forward to it. You can show me how to tech and I can make us some nice tea.
[ Yea, The Mighty Nein, ass they like to call themselves, often find trouble just happens to and around them, unfortunately for those around at the time, but all in all, they're a good bunch. Caduceus smiles as Peter says he has an affinity for colourful people, it makes him feel much more at ease. Oh, and he had a girlfriend who was Fjord's colour too? That's neat! ]
You know, you might be right about that. I would like to think that my family spreads past the reach of the Blooming Grove. We very well might be long lost cousins, your group and mine. Oh, wow, your girlfriend is a Half-orc too? Or is she more like Nott and a Goblin?
[ Forgive him, those are the only green people he knows from back home! Though there were possibly other races that could be green he supposes now that he's thinking about it.
Thankfully, Caduceus' race is common in Exandria where he's from, though they often keep themselves to themselves, Firbolg's are known for their towering heights that enough places cater to their needs. That and Caduceus family probably make all of their own clothes, hence his very romantic, flowing shirt with just one silk sleeve.
About those dead elves... When he says he buried their youngest, he's just assuming that Peter would know that the youngest was over 200 years old. They tend to live for hundreds of years so even at 200 they had still been classed as young. Heck, if he was to ask Caduceus about his age he might be shocked or surprised. ]
Ah well, that's my job as a Grave Cleric. I keep everything in balance as best I can.
no subject
It's a deal. [ If the Mighty Nein also have a member who happens to be on the furry side, then the resemblances will start to be uncanny. ]
We could be, life is already so unpredictable that there's no telling for sure. I had siblings all over the galaxy. [ Because Ego had no self restrain. It's a pity most if not all of said siblings are already dead. ] Not quite. She's a Zen-Whoberi. She's only a bit shorter than me but ten times strong and her species have two livers. You don't want to enter a drinking contest against her, trust me.
[ Nothing to forgive, it's a logical question to answer. Peter is a bit amused that Caduceus went for 'goblin' firs, though.
Caduceus has nice taste in clothes too, Peter is usually more partial to leather jackets and clothes that don't get in the way of his running and kicking if he has to enter combat.
Alas no, Peter was thinking much younger than that. Knowing that it was over 200 years old would make him feel better. How old is Caduceus? ]
Then I hope you manage to do that here as well. Hopefully without people freaking out when you ask about corpses.
no subject
As for the point about having a small furry pal in the group, well, Nott wasn't exactly furry but she was a loudmouth who liked to tinker with alchemy and blow shit up if that counts for anything? ]
Zen-Whoberi. That sounds nice, I like that, Zen-Whoberi. Oh, I eh, I think some of my friends would still challenge her to a drinking contest anyway, they're a little reckless with their wellbeing at times. Good job we have two Cleric's in the group.
[ The firbolg didn't really see himself as fashionable in the slightest! but he would be flattered if he knew someone liked what he was wearing, most of the time it was something comfortable and flowy, though, unlike Peter, if a fight broke out, Caduceus would normally stand aside and fight from cover, using spells and projectiles.
Ah-ha! Well, in human years he was around 20? Early 20's possibly but in firbolg, he was pushing 90 something! Still pretty young considering his race could live for hundreds of years too. ]
Yea, I'd really like to make a little Graveyard somewhere but I don't think its exactly legal here?
no subject
It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Sounds more melodic than Terran. Is what the people around the galaxy call us, humans. She doesn't accept challenges easily but she is competitive, I'm sure they all would have fun. But you're right, it would be the sort of fun that might require medical assistance.
[ Peter will have to mention it one day if they meet in person. He's seen people wearing all sorts of colorful or weird clothes while traveling around the Galaxy but Caduceus' have a particular style to it that he enjoys.
Oh that's not so old for his species! Peter's almost twice his age. Don't tell him Caduceus or he will feel old. At the mention fo the graveyard, Peter makes 'Uh yeah no' face and chuckles a little. ]
No, I don't think so.
no subject
It does. Very melodic. Oh, so a human isn't a human where you're from? It's what, a Terran? Wow, I'm learning so much, I hope I can remember all of this.
[ He chuckled at that, knowing that most of what Peter said, he was going to remember but some of it? Some of it would slip through the cracks in his memory.
The Mighty Nein would often get themselves into trouble like that, drinking competitions with aliens who were made to drink was right up their street! He'd have to tell the ones he lived with about Peter and his girlfriend! ]
That's a shame... I really would have loved to have a Graveyard here. Even if the Moonblessed just turn in to crystals for a while. It would have been nice looking after them.
