I go to a school for people training to be professional heroes, and that's my school's motto. I had to work very hard to get in.

Not quite. It's a separate occupation. In my world, roughly 80% of the population has powers of some sort. By making it an occupation, it keeps people from powers just acting as vigilantes without accountability, and people are compensated for the time, effort and risk that the job entails.

Tokyo has a genuine Yakuza problem, so having a tattoo there puts you at real risk of being mistaken for a criminal.

Some people get them anyway, but it's rare enough that people still make assumptions.
foxable: (okay but seriously)

sure, all magic comes with risk but attaching it to your body means attaching the risk to you, too

yeah sort of

i mean what happens is that the ink particles in your skin start to move a little

so they kind of 'blur' out from where they were originally put, as your skin grows past them

coloured inks can definitely fade thanks to uv radiation

but you can get your tattoos cleaned up, re inked, lasered off, whatever

also i've found that like
after a certain point, your tattoos are just a part of you, you know? just avoid getting like fandom tattoos or whatever and you're unlikely to tire of them

Got no tattoos.

[ Thanks for not branding him, Hojo. ...actually. ]

Got my ear pierced though. You?

It's complicated. And I still struggle with it myself after years in other countries. Some of which are a lot more relaxed about self-expression

I have never considered
But it would depend if I could do it with someone. Ah, it seems like a shared experience.

Some upper cartilage piercings for sure, maybe a brow piercing, maybe a tongue piercing.

[Of course it'd take a special kind of kiss to heal that piercing.]

yeah, that’s pretty much it but for books or movies or video games or whatever

honestly as long as you get something that means something to you

at the very least you’ll look back 20 years later and be able to remember what was important to you at that age, yeah?

You seem knowledgeable about them. Do you just have a lot of piercings or do you also give piercings as well?

I only did the one myself around ten years ago. The earring is made of obsidian I forged myself.

What kinds do you have?

I never said the police weren't a problem, too.

They contribute to the fear, really. If they can't find a culprit, a scapegoat will do.

They might arrest someone on suspicions of Yakuza involvement purely for having tattoos, if they have a case they want to hurry and close.
