[ As Akutagawa promised, he's at Atsushi's door in about ten minutes or so. He knocks, just to announce his presence, before pushing the door open. He walks through the door with a bottle of flowers and a bundle of chrysanthemums.]

[The flowers are unexpected, and Atsushi's face lights up when he sees them.]

Flowers, for me? You shouldn't have.

I believe it's customary for sons to give their fathers flowers, so I figured I will do so in their spirit.

[ The flowers are orange, so maybe the color will perk Atsushi up as well.]

They're lovely.

[Atsushi accepts the bouquet, and leans up to give Akutagawa a chaste kiss.]

[ There's a slight blush to his cheeks at the chaste kiss.]

Shall we have some sake?

Yes, please. Make yourself comfortable.

[ Akutagawa decides to sit in Atsushi's living room. He places the bottle of sake on the coffee table as he sheds his coat. These days he's not wearing his signature trench, but a shorter dark jacket for the warmer weather. He sits on the couch, working on opening the bottle of sake.]

I brought this back from Amegahara, so it should be good.

Oh, I haven't had as much of a chance to try their wares as I would like.

[He might end up drinking a bit too much...]

[ Akutagawa has definitely indulged in the sake bar there, but he doesn't have a good alcohol tolerance, so there's a limit.]

You should. I'm not much of a drinker, but it's nice to relax from time to time. Do you have any cups suitable for sake?

[Something as tiny as espresso cups might work as well.]

I have some wine glasses we could use...

[Then Atsushi will just get those from the kitchen, and return to pour them some sake.]

It's the only thing I can do, but I'm always happy to spend my time with you.

[ He reaches out to tuck Atsushi's hair behind his ear.]

[Atsushi leans into Akutagawa's hand.]

You could've done nothing.

Probably. If you were just anyone, that's what I would do. Nothing. However, you mean something to me, so I couldn't be idle.

[That reminds Atsushi of something he'd been thinking about earlier...]

What are we to each other, exactly? Are we boyfriends?

[That's right, they've never sat down and had this talk.]

I don't dislike the sound of it, but we wouldn't be exclusive to each other. To be honest, I've never been in a relationship before, especially something like this.

[He sips at his sake.]

I can't commit to just one person either, but I'd like to be your boyfriend.

[Just gonna not mention that he's boyfriends with Atsushi too... don't want to stir up the rivalry.]

You're someone precious to me, after all.

[ Probably shouldn't mention that detail.]

From the beginning, you've been special to me, too. So if it's you, I don't mind being your boyfriend.

[He reaches to take hold of Atsushi's hand.]

[Atsushi gives Akutagawa's hand a squeeze.]

I'm glad. Because I adore you, Ryuunosuke.

[ Akutagawa's cheeks heat up. It's still strange to have such words directed towards him, but he likes it all the same.]

I cherish you, too.

[ He uses their handhold to pull Atsushi closer, so he can bestow the other man with a kiss.]

[Their kiss tastes faintly of sake, though it stays chaste. Atsushi is wearing a smile when he pulls back.]

Maybe we should toast? To our relationship.
