( when the feed starts, lenore comes to view sitting primly in a very plush looking couch, and she waves a bit with the hand she’s not holding her communicator with, smiling sweetly at the camera. it took her awhile, but she got the gist of how to use it easily enough. what a quaint little thing.
the place she’s in seems to be the lodgings that they'd been promised after helping with excavations, considering hers is currently occupied, but the curtains are drawn shut to keep the sun out, so it’s a little dim inside what with the only source of light being a lamp behind the camera despite it being the middle of the day. not that she’d die from it now with the medication she was provided, she’s just not really fond of it anyway. )
Before I begin, I suppose it’d be better if I introduce myself first.. technically a second time now, but for those who've missed it. ( she’s twirling a lock of her hair between her fingers, contemplative. she knows the possible risk she’s taking and concludes with: it could be interesting. ) My name is Lenore, and some of you might’ve already chanced on seeing me around before.
( the redhead leans back on her chair to get more comfortable, better than sitting so properly anyway. she even tilts her head a bit and finally she resigns to whatever it was she seemed to be mulling over, and returns her gaze to look at the camera. )
I’m here because I’ve found myself in a bit of a conundrum. You see, ( she parts her lips slightly, her tongue briefly painting over one of her fangs before continuing. ) I’m hungry.
( the camera shifts slightly because it seems she went to go reach for something. a blood pill. she shows that to the camera as well as she toys with it between her fingers. )
While these things are well and good, I’m afraid they’re not quite to my taste. ( and she hasn’t even tried the blood of a moonblessed yet, ) And I was hoping that we could come to an agreement of sorts.
( then she pauses for a moment, then laughs. right, silly her. she should explain better. )
I’m a vampire, and I figure it’d be best if I don’t shock people with that sort of information, I’d rather not have people assume I’m going to eat them, unless -- that’s the sort of thing you like. I’d hardly be one to judge.
( with a flick, the pill is launched without much care. as she said, she doesn’t really like it. why would she? it’s like being given a nutritional block for food and told to subsist off of it, which she wouldn’t do either. she eats the things humans do for enjoyment, after all. lenore is of the type to indulge the finer things in life, and this is one of the things she enjoys. )
I’m not asking to take a bite out of you either, nor am I going to bleed you dry. ( unless they’re into that, in which they can talk about that too! ) I just want to drink, as I haven’t fed properly in some time. We can work out the details of what you’ll get in return as compensation, naturally, and how we’d go about it. You’re free to state your expectations on either end. Whether it be chroma or a favor, or some other creative thing you want of me. I’ll see what I can do. You’ll find that I’m quite flexible to work with.
( there was a clinic or another that showed her how drawing blood and storage works, not that she’s against using her teeth. she just needs the volunteer or five or ten to get a nice supply going. )
If you’re shy, feel free to reach out privately. If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer them. Goodbye now!
( and she ends the feed with a happy little wave. leave her messages! )
[ tldr; lenore's hungry, doesn't like the blood pills the hospital gives and wants to try the blood of a moonblessed. she offers to compensate them one way or the other in the preferred currency or some such of whoever would let her bleed 'em. ]

[[He repeats it, not for herself but mostly for himself. It's basically spit handshakes at this point to him. More out of habit he brings his hand up to adjust his glasses on the bridge of his nose again before it makes yet another exit stage left.]]
I get it. Whole new meaning when someone says bite me? Has someone said that to you and not known and then you were like yeah okay, I could do that. They find out and then there's a nineties sitcom like still frame where you're both holding your stomachs laughing but it's not actually freeze frame so the audience sees you're just standing still but claps anyway. Mainly because the sign is flashing for the audience to clap? But also because the humour is spot on for the times. I'm betting yes.
[[Her explanation makes Dave quiet on screen, his own head giving a little tick to the side. Even after his word spew and the bit of nerves behind them, Dave nods his head after, righting it to a less curious incline and a more confident one.]]
Yeah this place seems to like to fuck with everything it can in ways we're not expecting.
[[Dave's otherwise stoic lips crack a small smirk on its left hand side and he shrugs.]]
I can't promise I don't get my daily iron intake at least. Can't say I've been recently into silver.
[[He's tucking that way, just that the lore works, not for any other nefarious reasons. Christ she even laughs pretty. This must be a vampire thing, he's convinced of it.]]
Seems legit and to check out so I'm confirming: pleasant to talk to. Really fuckin' chill if you ask me. You didn't but if you had. Especially with that entendre...
[[He's quiet a moment, his top lip being nibbled on while he sighs.]]
Alright so... now? Later? I got work I think every other night this week, I'm taking some me time, but other than that if you wanna...
[[A shrug, unsure how to say it.]]
Do your thing.
I don't know how this works.
[[Not actually the vampire thing, more like the social interaction thing. At least with Karkat he just imposes himself.]]

It tends to happen, yes. People, mostly men, are so keen on making sure I know my place and whatnot. Comes with my profession at times. Thankfully I’ve grown quite used to their silly little peacocking. ( a beat. ) I’ve only bitten a few of them in retaliation, in case you’re about to ask that question next. But to be fair they deserved it.
( there’s something satisfying about seeing him crack a smile. glad to know she’s capable of eliciting that much of a reaction. as far as her laugh goes, well. he’d said it himself. he knew a vampire before her — is it a vampire thing?
when he asks just when she wants him, she mulls over just how to respond. he certainly put that bait out right for the taking, didn't he. she’ll take it. he seems like someone with a sense of humor. )
What, not going to say ‘bite me’? ( he’s the one who mentioned it first, ) Well, I’d be happy to take you whenever you’re free, and I’m thrilled that you’re so eager to get my mouth on you. But.
( lenore shifts in her seat, crossing her legs to get comfortable and settle in. goodness, is he in a rush? )
You haven’t told me what you wanted yet. Don’t you want something in return?
no subject
no pun.Dave is very obviously listening in return and his eyebrows furrow together when she relays the story of anyone trying to put someone in their "place". It's something that strikes a little bit of a nerve, not at her, just that it's a thing he knows he can't help that annoys him. People are dicks.]]
Should've bit the fuckin' pricks twice and kicked 'em in the balls on the way out. Never mind a lady, no one needs to talk t'someone like that.
[[Shifting in his seat again, he's leaning further in the corner.]]
Got my interest though, what kinda jobs do vampires do? Please tell me you're part of the red cross blood drive.
[[Smirking isn't something he does often, let alone full on laughing so for him that was a pretty big deal. Maybe it really is a vampire thing. He can count on his hand how many times he's smiled in the last five years of his life.
One of his hands is still holding the device, it just feels more natural for him to do and he fingerguns the other hand toward the screen with a signature wink and click of his tongue to go along with it. Then again it's behind the glasses, so the click of his tongue and the movement are going to have to do the indicating of what his eye did. Smart, Dave. Christ. Really smo—
Now that's some wording alright.]]
'cause I'm a gentleman, you can tell by looking right? Even if getting to the point of multi-tasking the mouth and dinner in one.
[[But no the rest of the question actually has him thrown off too and the look on his face brings his brows back into another draw together, this time in thought. He bites softly on his bottom lip in thought.]]
Y'know I didn't even think of it. I thought of my sister's wife and how she must not like frozen peas you know? Not that she eats frozen peas but I'm bettin' a home cooked warm meal would be better. I just thought of what my sister would have wanted for her wife and I guess what I would have wanted if her wife needed help. Or alternatives, I guess.
[[With a shrug of his shoulder some time in the near past, Dave sits up with his elbow on his knee, the angle only changing a little.]]
Maybe we just call it even if I pussy out at the sight of my own blood and we keep it between the two of us that I did. You could do that for me.
no subject
Oh, it’s quite alright. ( there’s something of a grin pulling at the edges of her lips. it’s confident and she hopes it’s reassuring enough since he got so riled up at the thought. ) I do decently well in making sure people learned some manners. Some just take a little more rough handling than others.
I’m a diplomat. ( this time, her free hand flourishes as she bows her head as though she were in a curtsy, peering up at him through lashes and her grin melting back away to an easy smile. ) So, negotiations are where my talents lie.
( now, that’s interesting. he mentions a sister and how the first vampire he met is married to her. she has to wonder if the thing for vampires run in the family. once more, she rights herself from her little bow and leans back on the couch to toy with a lock of her hair between her fingers. )
That’s very sweet of you. Your sister is married to a vampire? No wonder you’re sympathizing. Don’t worry, I’ll do my best to take care of you while you’re in my hands. I don’t intend to waste what you’re offering, so it’s unlikely you’ll see much. I won’t hold you down unless you give me the permission to do so but — that’s something we can discuss when you get here, hm?
( speaking of, it looks like she’s tapping away at her communicator for a bit to send her location over, room number and all. it pretty much is the very same place that was promised to those who helped with the artifacts, and it’s nice enough. )
Will I be seeing you soon?
1/2
Yeah, we'll talk more there.
[[He doesn't want the chance someone actually sees this and uses it against him some day. Dave is definitely nervous, but he's out the door on his way while she's asking. He's checking the given directions again.]]
You will, that won't take me much time to cover the ground for. I'll let you go for now and we can talk about my sister some other time.
[[Dave has to mentally prep for that clusterfuck of a family tree, too.]]
Action;
All in all it had benefited Dave better than it had Karkat. It meant he found jobs, odd jobs or full time employment doing things he was good at. This wasn't one of those things in the least, the idea that he was going to bleed in any capacity hadn't been easy on his mind, but he landed all the same and took a deep breath. He had to steel himself as he made his way to the location proper and with a quick text of 'im here' waited for a reply, or to have some sort of supernatural Nosferatu encounter shadow. He wasn't sure what to expect.
He shouldn't think like this, though, he did chide himself. Kanaya was a good woman and he wouldn't want someone thinking about her in a frightening light. Then again he also knew that strangers weren't Kanaya. It would be an interesting time, none the less.
Action!
The place he'll find himself in is the very same hotel that Lunatia provided to those who helped with the excavation efforts, lavish and comfortable and she feels very much so at home. Sad that it's all temporary and she'll have to find more permanent lodgings sooner than later, for now she's enjoying herself at least.
When her device beeps with the message, she blinks in what would be surprise at how fast he seemed to have gotten here. He did mention that he wasn't quite the average human if she can't kill him, so she shouldn't be so surprised. And well, works even better for her either way. So she makes her way to the door, opening it up to greet her visitor with a smile.
Ah, he's rather tall isn't he.
"Well, hello there. Someone's enthusiastic." Stepping aside, there's a hint of amusement when she makes a gesture with her hand to invite him in. "Come on, then."
no subject
He gave a small tick upward of his head when she smiled and only stepped through with her gesture. "Thanks. I don't think I get called enthusiastic at all, so I'll take it." The people here had been surprisingly nice about his rambling and red text. Closer as he was to the idea of being bled in any capacity, Dave kept his mind on how he would feel if this was someone closer to home. Not only that but Mercy had been helping him relentlessly any time he needed it, even if some of the topics were probably not something she wanted to deal with. Or were and it was his own imposition of the idea she wasn't.
The knight could do this, it wasn't a big deal. "Nice digs, by the way." From behind his glasses, somewhere, he had bee looking around, taking in some of the detail. "You're missing out on using an accent and fake nails and a few cobwebs but I'll forgive it." He jokes.
no subject
She does wonder if she could extend her stay here, but that hardly seems sustainable. Not when she's looking to save enough Chroma to move out of her starter apartment soon. It's rather crowded, and she misses the solace she can find in silence. An apartment complex offers very little in the ways of that especially for one with such heightened sense of hearing.
The comment about the discrepancy between her and his idea of vampires does at least make her laugh, crossing her arms with a curious uptick of her brow.
"I'm terribly sorry to disappoint on that front." She doesn't look it. "Is that what your experience with them has been like?"
The first one he's met, she means. And well, before he goes on into rambling she gestures for him to sit if he'd like. It's the very same couch that he'd just seen her on through the video earlier. There's no sense in letting her guest stand.
no subject
Even still, he's trudging through and the cross armed, eyebrow up look actually calms him. She seems down to earth and he appreciates that he doesn't have to feel at unease. Which makes him uneasy and he's in a battle with his own brain to see which part of that wins out. "It's alright, I won't hold it against you. But, nah. Kanaya's her name. She's..." For a moment Dave adjusts his glasses back into place, trying to think of how to put it. "Different than old classic movies too. Just like you." That was a compliment, Dave. Tell them it was a compliment. Oh. Somewhere to sit. He does that while rambling, nothing stops that train and tries to figure out if he should cross his leg, or maybe leave it on the floor. After attempting both, he goes with the idea to lay down that he meant what he said in a positive way. "I mean that in a good way. Like a compliment."
Good job.
no subject
"Quite the poet, aren't you?" While not tongue-tied, he does seem to like to ramble on. Sometimes with terms and concepts she can't quite grasp. She hardly minds it, but she also can't really help but pull his leg if that's his idea of a compliment. Not that she's not taking it regardless? It's the thought that counts, or something.
Well, now that he's seated (albeit restlessly), she joins him on the plush couch, legs crossed, leaned back, forearm resting on her knee. Comfortable.
"I'm not going to attack you. Breathe." She's certainly in no rush. "You came here of your own will, and you're free to walk away from the whole thing if that's what you want at any point. I promise I don't bite."
...
Hm..
"Until invited."
no subject
"Ha!" He got the joke, that was a good icebreaker and he decided to try to calm himself down by putting both his hands behind his head and leaning back. "Nah, it's not I think you can keep me here, you couldn't if you tried. It's that I'm—" A multitude of things, someone who hadn't really made a face to face connection in months that wasn't Karkat being one of them. "Y'know just vibing." That covered it, right?
"So, since you're goin' to be the first lady I ever said 'bite me' to, let alone they're gonna do it. How do you want this to work?" He knew it didn't have to be, and wouldn't be right away, but he wanted to at least get the talk out of the way. "'Cause if I don't get on topic, I don't think I'm going to and I know me. I'll say, or do something awkward and then I'll just want to go based on that alone."
