{He is sprawled and glorious in a way few can mimic. Elves! His hand rests on a blue egg while a second, silver egg, rests in his lap. His children.}
What can I expect - {A hesitation and he smiles, thinly, coolly.} What can we expect when these hatch?
{Who is "we"? Don't ask.}
Furthermore, though this feels like the wrong time to do so, allow me to introduce myself: I am Thranduil, Elven-King of the Woodland Realm.
{The rings on his fingers tap against the eggshells; he could crush them, bare-handed and usually he would be tempted with anything regarding Dragons. However...
These are his, Dragons or not.}

Lan Wangji. A pleasure.
As for when they hatch, treat them kindly. I cannot say what they will be, for I have only arrived myself. Regardless, they are children, and should be cared for as such.
[Video]
I have no intention of harming them. {He lifts the silver egg and sets it by the blue.} I cannot explain how they came to be, but I take responsibility for their lives and their existence.
[Video]
That is what matters most. Do you have aid in their care? Have you tended to eggs of other species in the past?
[ Maybe he should enlist the aid of Wei Ying... ]
[Video]
I am not a solitary parent. {Much...to his shock.} The one who laid them will assist in their care. I have cared for birds in the past. Thus far, I have kept this pair warm. If they are Dragons, they will be drawn to heat.
[Video]
All should be well. Your instincts seem sound. Trust them.
[ Which is, naturally, the precise moment the two white rabbits he'd wound up here with hop into his lap and have him outright smile softly down at them, immediately setting to petting the soft fur to assure them of his love. ]
The young know when they are cared for.
[Video]
Tell me their names. {It's a strange custom - the naming of other creatures - however his own kind are guilty of it too.}
I have no ill feelings for this pair. The Dragons of Arda I detest {for good reason} but these are not them.
[Video]
I have not given them names.
[ Though he thinks, gaze drifting down to fur again. ]
Wei Ying might, but he has yet to do so.
[ The mention of dragons and Thranduil's poor thought of those of his world has him disturbed, though one would be hard-pressed to recognize it by sight. He doesn't immediately answer though, preferring to think over words carefully. ]
It is good that you see them as beings apart from what you know.
[Video]
They have names in their tongue. Wei Ying would be giving them secondary monikers.
{Where the eggs sit, there are blankets to cushion them and a small heater to drive away even the smallest of chill. No, he does not hate these children.}
I am cautious - as we all should be - but I am not blind to goodwill.
[Video]
Do you know it? I would be glad to call them properly by name. [ There is a hint of awe in his tone. Of respect.
The clear care Thranduil has taken for the eggs is just another point in his favor. ]
Mm. Would that more people felt the same.
[Video]
I do. {The voice of a rabbit is soft and he looks forward to listening to the children in Wangji's arms.} Allow me to see them in person and I will tell you.
{It's rude to ask for a name at a distance!}
Men are rash.
video; manacookies
Your majesty! The dragons, they are friendly things!
[ She smiles brightly, her glowing eyes full of amusement and reverence in one. ]
They will go to their city, no? To be with their kind.
video
I had not expected friendliness from them. The Dragons of my world are far different.
{He blinks and nods slowly. That does make sense.}
Then I will assist them in their journey.
no subject
(Thank you, WoW, for having elves with over a foot of pointy ear.) ]
The dragons of my world, they are different too, but most of them, they are friendly. The blue and the black, not always so much.
[ She smiles again. ]
You will be a very good father, yes? Helping on their path, it is best for little ones of any kind.
no subject
There was another who spoke to me of color affecting personality. Could you be from the same world as Wrathion?
{His chin lifts the slightest bit.}
I have a son; I know what children need.
no subject
At the mention of Wrathion, she perks up a bit and smiles again. ]
Yes! I am knowing of the Black Prince, he is one of the few good black ones. Always is helping the heroes of our world.
[ At his little 'correction', she just cocks her head to the side a bit. ]
That is very good, yes. I am a teacher, I am knowing it as well. Dragons, they are a little different from the child, no?
no subject
... {He had not fully realized Wrathion's nature, however it doesn't shock him. If anything, the fact Wrathion had hidden it - or not said - was likely for his comfort. How...diplomatic.}
I am impressed by him. {His esteem of WoW Dragons has risen a notch.}
What do you teach? {It hurts to remember Legolas, so little, so innocent, but those memories are precious to him.} Yes. My Legolas has never been like a Dragon - except perhaps in his stubbornness.
no subject
(She may have outed his princedom now, but she's so used to that being obvious that she doesn't think about it.) ]
Very impressive, yes. Always helping to save the world.
[ Mina turns a bit, creating little sparkles of arcane energy between her fingers. ]
I am teaching the basics of magic to the children. Before, it was only my kind, but now I teach to all of the Alliance.
no subject
He had wondered about Wrathion - the scent of fire, the refined manners, his preference for fine craftsmanship, the gold hoops in his ears all pointed to nobility at the very least.}
A thankless job.
{But he might be a bit bitter on the subject.}
Alliance? {Magic is a touchy subject.} Does your magic heal or harm?
no subject
[ Shrug. ]
Alliance, yes. It is a war-torn world, Azeroth. Always something happening, or just fights with the Horde. Humans, dwarves, gnomes and night elves, they made an alliance to fight together. Then my people joined, and then many else.
[ The glittering magic in her fingers turn more pinkish-purple. ]
I am not a priest or anyone else with the healing magic, but my magic is not only for war or defense. Many things are for travels and protection.
no subject
{But that can change.}
He told me of the Drows in their twilight city. {Now he is drawn to another interest, however.} May I inquire as to your race?
{Thranduil eyes the color, unable to determine where on the spectrum she lies.}
You teach children of war?
no subject
[ Shrug. She doesn't really adventure, so she didn't pay full attention. There were portals to keep going.
Thranduil's comment about her job makes her a little huffy, though. ]
I do not teach children war! That would be terrible, no? I teach them where magic is from and how it works. The history and the use. Small spells for the oldest, but not so much.
[ He's kind of right, that's the problem. They will eventually at least experience war, but all races tried to shield their children from that for as long as possible. Hopefully most will be strange people in towers and not hardened warriors on battlefields. ]
Me, I am draenei. Our people, we are not natives of Azeroth, but the world, it is given us new hope. It is our home after the millennias of running from demons.
[ The little tendrils by her ears rise in a 'wave', and she pans the camera a bit to show her horns, tail and hooves. ]
no subject
{There are likely places in his palace where he has a clear view of the night sky above the tree line.
Her answer is comforting and he smiles.}
Then you are not rash. I am impressed.
{Children should be fiercely protected. He would never agree to them being taught powerful spells.}
I see. I do like the look of you. {She is cute.} I hope I do not cause you offense in saying so.
no subject
[ She can't really blame them, as her people ran. It was the 'joining the demons' later that was the issue.
At his comment about not being rash, her smile softens. ]
My people, we live very long lives. I am a few decades of age by our people, but far older than the many other races. It gives time to learn what is important, yes?
[ I like the look of you is a funny way to put it, but gives him a little wink. ]
There is no offense in compliments, no? You are very handsome, but that is not new to hear, I am very sure.
no subject
A few decades is no time at all! {He smiles and inclines his head.} True. I watch others often; there is so much that is left unsaid.
{Thranduil looks pleased - he had meant it as a compliment.}
Few would dare to compliment me openly.
oops that should have been centuries but I'm sure he'd react the same
[ She gives him a little wink, enjoying a bit of flirting now and then, even if he might not be interested. It was just fun to do! ]
Have you been studying the people here and learned?
Pretty much. o__o Old Elves, right?
She is cute and he doesn't mind the flirting in the slightest.}
I have. I believe I can tell the natives from those like us. What intrigues me is that they too are varied.
yyyyep. Their leader is like 25.000
[ She smiles again, tail swishing a bit on her bed behind her. ]
...and I am agreeing with you on that. The prismals, they seem to mix their appearance a lot. Some, it might even the technology that makes them look different. Very unusual.
un: everapple | video
I see Lunatia is overwhelmed with majesty as of late.
[ There is something a touch sharp about his smile. He bows with the effortless grace of a practiced courtier. ]
I am Cardan Greenbriar, of Elfhame.
...I expect that is a name as unfamiliar to you as the Woodland Realm is to me?
video
We cannot help our pasts or our titles.
{Not that he would want to in particular. Except when it comes to his wife and his father.}
Yes. But I am fond of your name all the same. {It reminds him of Greenleaf.} What is Elfhame like?
no subject
Elfhame is comprised of shifting isles, where mermaid songs greet each moon's rise, and revels last into the bright hours of the morning.
The isle of Insmire is the seat of the High King. [ His mouth quirks with a half-smile. ] As my people are inclined to excess, there is no shortage of beauty at the court, nor of treachery.
[ Does he sound mildly wistful? It's possible. ]
What of your realm, King Thranduil?
no subject
Mermaid songs? {What sort of creature would that be? Thranduil suppresses a low sigh of longing. There are so many races he knows naught about!}
My court is overflowing with beauties; I have never seen an Elf that is plain or dull, though some shine like gems among the rest. The Greenwood keeps my palace secret and I have built its walls out of the trees themselves. Granted, there are stones too, but I much prefer green growing things.
My throne is seated far above. Twisting stairs lead to it and it too is made out of roots and branches twined together. At the top of it, there are antlers shed from the elk I keep as mounts.
{As for the state of his realm...}
A shadow has fallen over the Greenwood. Many now call it Mirkwood for that reason, however I know that the pests will be eradicated.
video; this is also not the cr I promised buuut
Well. If you had paid attention to what we are told on arrival, you would at least know what to not expect. But that is too much for some.
[ ... not wrong, despite the insulting implication. And, as a Bystella, the mating part mostly has passed him by. He just thinks the question, or rather the expectation in it, unwise. ]
Beyond that, only time will tell.
video; /grabs it anyway
I paid attention. {Touchy, touchy. Thranduil narrows his eyes and drinks wine from a skin taken from his belt.}
Am I not allowed to make inquiries? Or to question what I was told?
{His lips twitch, almost a smirk.}
So you do not know.
video: yasss
[ Hua Cheng shrugs. ]
Not offspring, certainly. Beyond that, no, I do not.
video
{He stoppers his wine-skin and sets it aside.}
That depends on your idea of offspring.
video
Offspring. Next generation. The ones to honor your name plate in the ancestral hall and all that.
[ Ha... hahahaha. ]
un: harlequin (I know what I'm doing this time!)
[ She is so pleased with herself. Too pleased, really. This pun may be her greatest accomplishment in life. ]
