I have no desire to go on at length today, nor do I have a particular point to make. Merely a question.

Tell me about something fundamental to your world. Not something that's merely different to this place, but something that you wouldn't have been able to conceive of a world being without until you were brought here. Whether it's mundane or not matters very little to me; every world has something.

I think I took for granted being able to live in a world that didn't have more than one moon and the one we had wasn't responsible for... the kind of cycles we have here in this place.

I'm still not at all partial to the way things tend to work around here. It's becoming more bearable with time, but it's still deeply inconvenient if nothing else.

"Bearable, but deeply inconvenient" is more or less how I would describe it myself as well.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything else particularly noteworthy that this place doesn't also have by comparison. Maybe this place is more technologically advanced than mine, and has a lot of non-humans walking around, but that's about it as far as things outside of just not having one's family around or whatever other routines and needs one might have had back home.

That's approximately my experience right now. There are distinct differences in general atmosphere and how things are handled here, but otherwise it's all things that wash over. Things that can be adjusted for, things one can become accustomed to. I didn't have family left where I came from, either, so even that doesn't really trouble me here.

Unfortunately, I don't have anyone left to get back to either.

Then again, maybe that's actually fortunate? I don't have to worry about leaving anyone behind by staying here or wondering what is going on while I'm not there.

At the moment? Yes, if only because a better option has yet to present itself.

I intend to return to my world eventually - if anything, I'm becoming impatient with the fact that I haven't yet. But then, I was in the middle of some important things.

My world's condition is somewhat dire, and I'm working on making it less so. That's about the gist of it.

A fair amount of my world's problems are caused by complacency. A refusal to move beyond what they're currently capable of. Either that or an inability. Either way, it's something that needs to be corrected.

I can't say that I understand completely, given that I still don't know what exactly caused your "potential end of the world" crisis you have going on. However, it doesn't surprise me to think that there are people who would still be rather complacent even during an apocalypse of some kind.

The most immediate issue is biological warfare becoming rampant, leading to millions infected. The infected invariably die, and then they proceed to not stay that way.

I wouldn't say it's apocalyptic just yet, but it has potential to get there.

... Considering that what you just described sounds like zombies, I would think you're already past the point of calling it apocalyptic.

You would be surprised.

As long as outbreaks are isolated, which they currently are, it's not difficult for the everyday citizen to just continue to live as normal. Maybe they carry a gun now; maybe they're wary when people around them get sick. They get into the practice of putting down any animal that's behaving strangely. There are some places no one goes anymore.

But otherwise, relatively little has changed for a surprising amount of the world.
