hey i have something from home. i want to know what everyone thinks! it's one of my favorites

[There's a couple of seconds where nothing is heard. But suddenly, without warning, a rather distinctive song begins to play:

yes it's the gold saucer music

And no, it's not stopping. Not for a good ten minutes or so. Probably best to just cut the feed two minutes in... or sit and listen. Maybe there's a prize at the end for listening to a 10 minute loop.

There is not.

And yes, a certain someone just acquired a Birdbox from the shop and decided to put it to good use. You know, sharing culture from your home world and all that good stuff. He might also be trying to see if anyone recognizes the music, just to take note who else is from Gaia.]

Let me just re-check the search engine in my brain to be sure. Nope. Definitely no record of it other than when you mentioned it.

[He's probably doing a pretty good job of getting sarcasm across through text there.]

Whenever the hell I possibly could.

What are these woods you speak of?

[The second post comes just long enough after the first to let Rufus actually consider whether Jules is being serious.]

No, I don't live in the middle of the damn woods. I actually live on a space station.

And before you claim that's why I've never heard of you parks of massive amusement, they don't exist on any of the planets I've visited.

There's a lot of space stations, both personal and not where I'm from. Space travels is kind of the norm in the United Systems.

[And yes, but systems he means multiple solar systems with a huge variety of planets that can be traveled to regularly.]

Andarions get their amusement by beating the ever loving snot out of each other. And the few that don't enjoy doing it themselves find their pleasure watching other Androkyn beat the shit out of each other in the Ring. Way more amusing than a park. As for the other races, virtual reality is usually good enough, and you don't even have to leave home. There might be some amusement park games or something. I don't know. I only played the shooters.
suspecteverything: (oh yeah?)

Why wouldn't you just take your own form of transportation for fun instead of going to these entertaining parks of yours?

[Clearly space travel is a big deal where Rufus is from... Not so much in Jules' world.]

Space travel isn't exactly a novelty. It's pretty damn common place in the United Systems. It's how goods get shipped and people move around. Unless you're ridiculously wealthy and enjoy luxury cruisers, there's not a lot of reason to go flying through space just for fun. Besides, there are a lot of groups out there that target individual craft that can't defend themselves.

[His included, sort of. The Tavali, and particularly the Gorts, have some standards.]

You ride on a coaster? How big is it? And how exactly do you stay on if it's supposed to roll?

[You're talking to a guy who has no idea what roller coasters are. The only point of reference he has is actually drink coasters.]

Not lost on me, no. I love flying. It's amazing.

Don't just assume they're innocent. There aren't a lot of innocents who have that kind of cred.

]If only he could see what Jules was picturing...]

Right...

Not a whole lot of defenseless ships out there. Most are armed. And defenseless is rather subjective.

Some can't. Most can. Of those that can't many of them deserve whatever happens to them. Trust me on that. There are a hell of a lot of assholes out there, and most of them have a lot of money.

[He'll be the first to tell you that the biggest assholes with money used to share a last name with him.]

Depends on your view of wrong. There are a hell of a lot of "wrong" things out there, but most aren't wrong from every viewpoint.

Every government is monitored by an organization of assassins essentially. They used to monitor things well, but now they're just minsid assholes.

Usually one in every family. You don't need to try and find just one on a planet.

You wouldn't last very long where I'm from with that philosophy.

The army doesn't prepare you for backstabbing politics. You can have morals all you want, but when your enemies don't have them your morals are just an Achilles heel that'll get you killed.

Oh yeah? Is the family member who always hangs out with you but is secretly plotting your destruction your enemy? Is the friend that's only out to use you your enemy? Is the queen you swore allegiance to but is plotting to exterminate your entire race your enemy? Is the random person on the street with a concealed knife they're ready to shove into your gut when you're least expecting it your enemy?

My control is pretty much jammed in the top notch. I would try and wiggle it around to actually drop it to a lower notch but it's much more likely to break off completely than it is to move.

Besides, I was actually behaving! Wasn't even exaggerating on any of those questions.

Minsid hell! Do you think I'm asking to die?! Of course I don't trust anyone.
