Understandable. The feeling of futility is difficult to overcome especially when you don't know when you'll return.

Distraction techniques might be the best option:
Sparring
Running
Swimming
Gym work-outs

If you come to the Moon Knight barracks or Manuela's academy, I can help with training and sparring.

Yeah. It's a relief to be here, but there's always that feeling hanging over everything.

[It's not like he couldn't say the same about the potential of dying or having something equally life-changing happen, but this feels different. Maybe it's the memory thing. He doesn't know.]

Oh, so you teach at Manuela's academy? Where is it? [He'd thought there was just the city's main academy as far as schooling, but he hadn't looked for others.]

It's in Level 2.
Casagranda Grand Castle Academy is the whole name.

I see. I might take you up on that. [Even if he'd like to pretend that he's just going to school like a normal person... this place has proven to be dangerous enough that he needs to keep his skills sharp when it comes to fighting. Even aside from the distraction, this might be a good chance to learn things he never could have on his own.]

Is it open on the weekends? Most of my weekdays are taken up by Lunatia Academy classes. But if not, I'd be alright with evenings.

Not for general classes.
But I give extra seminars and tutoring sessions then.

Also detention, but try and keep out of that.

What are you interested in learning?

I don't think you'll have much to worry about from me in that department. But I'll keep it in mind.

[He'll be able to fit things into his schedule somewhere, if he's determined enough to do it. But as far as what...]

Ranged combat, I think. [His usual close combat hasn't turned out so well for him since he's been here, as it turns out.]

Any prior combat experience?

Sort of. It's a little complicated. I've been in plenty of fights against monsters, but most of my skill comes from my powers. So I didn't really learn it, I guess, even though I've picked up a few things just from doing it long enough.

[It kind of makes him feel like an impostor, sometimes. At least he's emotionally prepared for combat, though. That's something.]

This time I'd like to start from scratch, I think.

What are your powers?
And were they activated as an unconscious protection against danger?

[ Learning what triggers them is usually the first step to controlling them. ]

They make me stronger in general when I focus, and it includes speed and stamina. I can summon a sword as well, and I could immediately use it to protect myself, despite not ever holding one before that. [This place is teaching him how to explain them concisely, at least.]

It was a very specific danger that doesn't exist here. But I nearly died a while before that, despite having access to what gave me those powers.

[He still hates thinking about that, but he's been dumping everything relevant in this conversation anyway.]

What is this specific danger?
Even if you can't encounter it here, you might be able to conjure up
the memories and the way it made you feel to access those abilities.

[ It's the best they can do short of recreating those instances. ]

It was the kinds of monsters someone from my world could create. I've seen similar ones here, but they don't have the same feeling, I guess.

I want to learn how to fight naturally, though. Without my powers just turning it on. I don't want to be left helpless because something happens and I lose the source, or something keeps them from activating.

[With how actively this world influences them, it feels like a possibility he can't ignore.]
