I'm not very sure how we're allowed to be brought to this world, and we can travel to its moons, but travel to other planets hasn't been accomplished yet.

[ Travel bans, man. But just to entertain the thought, Rosho would obviously suggest Shigeru visit his home province. ]

You would enjoy Osaka. We have our own proverb. "Dress into ruin in Kyoto, eat into ruin in Osaka". Dōtonbori is a key location for our culinary indulgences.

[ After a moment Rosho's face shows up on the screen, staring downward, and there's the scratch of a pencil as he writes a few things down. Once he's finished he lifts a notebook into view and begins to gesture to the symbols he's written. ]

We'll begin with "Shigeru".

These are two readings for Shigeru. The meaning of both is luxuriant in terms of mass, or an aspect of talent such as displaying excellence.

It is a combination of the reading for "miya", which is the first symbol, followed by "ta", the second symbol. The first contains multiple meanings. A shrine or palace, constellations, and princess. Next is "ta", which meaning is a field of rice.

It hasn't been accomplished by my people either. But I think we're close to figuring it out, given the powers people have back home.

[ Rosho gives an understanding nod before he smiles softly. ]

Japanese names are very unique. Each symbol can have multiple meanings, and then those can change when you combine certain ones together. A lot can go into consideration in regards to how you name a person, ya see? I do think the name "Shigeru" fits you real well.

[ His brows raise in surprise at the question, but he hums in thought then you can hear the scuff of the pencil again as he writes. Once he's done he'll lift the notebook once more.

This is how you write my first name, Rosho. "ro" is the symbol for a hut, and "sho" is a reed instrument. It isn't all that interesting, honestly.

My last name is more... creative, I guess. Together the first two symbols read "tsutsuji". This can be read as a specific color that resembles pink, as well as azalea, a type of plant. Lastly is "mori". This is most read as such to mean a forest. So my last name can be a pink, or azalea, forest.

The symbols for "tsutsuji" can also be read as "tekichoku". The alternate reading is... uncertainty. Hesitation. All together, it becomes a wavering forest, full of doubt.

[ Rosho pauses, then laughs quietly, a bit sheepish. ]

[ A text response promptly shows up on his side of the screen, and while Rosho thinks to swap back to text, instead he decides to stick with the video feed. He reads it, and he can't help but laugh again. Ah, Shigeru, you're too sweet. If only Rosho could hold up that kind of optimism for himself whenever he thinks about his stage fright. ;; ]

Cherry blossoms? Oh! Yes! I've seen those. They're very beautiful and calming too. I've drawn a whole bunch of them from the images I've seen. I guess those also fit when I think about it. You're a calming presence, at least for me!

[ SHIGERU?! Stop!! He's already dead! He actually will finally realize what he's writing off the top of his head and coupled with Rosho's expression...oh my god?! He's so sorry!! ]

I mean!! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to write that! I just...sometimes write whatever comes to mind when I do that!! I didn't mean to embarrass you! [ Shigeru is also embarrassed now, good job. But he really is sincere with what he writes. ]

[ Rosho lets out a heavy sigh, rubbing at his temples after he finishes the last of Shigeru's rambling response. ]

No, it's not that I don't like you being nice like that. It's... I like it. And it's good to hear you being honest that way. You say it's hard for you to get acquainted with other people, because of your phobia, yeah? So what I should be sayin' is that I'm glad we're friends, ya know? Because you don't have any problems talking to me like someone would assume ya would.

[ The flush of color on his face deepens but his voice remains surprisingly steady. ]

And I appreciate that you trust me enough to... let me touch you, too. When you need that kinda thing. I still feel bad about not being upfront about it that first time but, I... I'd like to do that with you again. Moonlacing, and such.

It...it is hard for to...get acquainted with people. But I've gotten better with it. People here are different than back home. They...read and take the time out to try and listen to me.

So when I do make friends I get nervous that I might mess up and offend them or!! Or act weird and they'll leave. I. I've had people do that before because I'm mute and I can't really 'speak' so they could just ignore me and what I was trying to explain or say.

No one's got any business having a shitty attitude like that. What, they think because someone can't speak means their words don't matter? Regardless of that, you've got a voice, spoken or not, so you're allowed to have an opinion and be treated like any other person.

[ Standing on his teaching podium for the moment, so he probably sounds pretty heated, but there is nothing Rosho hates more than others being disregarded in any manner. Nothing should stop anyone from having their personal voice heard. Mute? You can still express yourself, just the way Shigeru does, with confidence and honesty. ]

But I'm fully aware that when you wanna say something you'll keep yourself from saying it, to the point that you're just hurting yourself. So I'm keeping my eye on you. If I got a feeling you're not taking care of yourself during Iris, expect a visit, ya see?

Yes that's...exactly it. You don't really have a 'spoken' voice if it's on a piece of paper, right? And most of the time people would just rip it up or hide my pad and things like that. I guess I just...got used to not talking after awhile. [ Shigeru that's not okay at all?! But the way he talks about it makes it seem like he was used to it, or at least grew accustomed to it happening. ]

That...that's not true all the time. I speak up when I...want to. [ But he does have a point and Shigeru doesn't tell people much when he's in trouble or hurting. In fact he actively turns people away when he does get like that. But that's just how he is. ]

But. You don't have to do that, Rosho! I mean...only if you want, okay? I don't want you to over extert yourself either! But I definitely want to set up something for you and Sasara to come visit, so whenever you're both free...just let me know! [ Now he's all flustered on his end. He doesn't want to bother the other with his issues, especially if he comes over again!! ]
