( fellow moonblessed~! have a pair of dark hazel eyes looking at you through the screen, a pointy nose against it because he knows no better than having the right distance from the feed's view. he's just trying to find the perfect angle. )
I know I've met some people during the festival, which I must thank them for their kindness when I first arrived. ( an almost, visible attempt of a bow. coughing a little and clearing his throat in a cute manner. ) My name is Souji Okita, from Edo, Japan, Earth as I know. First Captain of the Shinsengumi and Assistant Captain to Commander Isami Kondō-sensei and Vice-Commander Toshizo Hijikata-san.
I've been told there's another Okita here. No, I don't have a brother or a twin. No, I don't owe you money, I never kicked your dog and I certainly never soiled your gardens. ( in before anyone could come up to him with yelling and insults, hoping this place isn't like kyoto. are these things what sadists do? he doesn't even know.and 'psycho killer' would fit in here. ). I haven't met him, so... Okita-mimic-kun, you better make a public apology for any kind of offense towards the people you might have irritated. Do not make a disgrace of my family name, please! ( because... shinsengumi's motto is 'truth' so truth goes with justice, mister. hah! however, given the poor view of his face, take his seriousness with a grain of salt. )
Leaving that aside, I'd like some help about technology and contemporality, as I come from a time where none of what Lunatia has exists, and gaijin knowledge is only available to the scholars and nobility.
Of course, as it seems like I'm staying for an unknown period of time, I offer you my services for a fair wage. I'll gladly help you with any Chroma you want in return for these favors! I'm indebted to your kindness once again!

I've been told my birth city's name was changed. ( his face is one of disbelief, about the concept of his name through history. his sensei was supposed to become the most known instead of him. )
Is that so? It's easy for people to attach infamy to a face they've never met.
no subject
And I never said anything about infamy. Most people of Japan adore you, from what I've gathered.

( a-ah. his kokoro 💓 cheeks are so red right now. ) I-- I am known in Kyoto and Osaka and people's feelings towards my name are anything far from adoration.

[Was that a little bit of pride in his voice? Yes, definitely. Much as his relationship with the city had become somewhat toxic and complicated in recent times, Joshua still held some admiration for Shibuya. And he was starting to miss it.]
Yes... I suppose in the moment, you weren't always the popular one. But history treats you kindly in the long run, don't worry. We like our stories about the Shinsengumi well enough, even if the shogunate was defeated in the end.
Sorry, was that a bit of a spoiler?
no subject
( the mention of the shogunate's defeat widen his eyes in a bit of denial. would it be wise finding out the 'why' behind the 'how', souji? does it have to do with opening the borders? spoiler, indeed. )
Why? What happened to Shogun-sama?
no subject
[Where would the world even be without cell phones?]
Perhaps I've said too much already. Are you sure you want to know?
no subject
are cellphones really necessary? such complicated devices...
of course souji wants to know more! about what happened to his sensei, to hijikata, to kamiya, to the shinsengumi and the future of bushi. honestly, he's not sure if he will sleep well tonight after that degree of revelations. )
Should I know? Must I know?

[Joshua was nothing if not a complete and total asshole, and even historical figures of his own country were not immune to his unpleasant attitude.]
Besides, all things come to an end. The imperial government as you knew it didn't even last a century. We have a Diet, now, and a prime minister. There's still an emperor, of course, but a nasty little world war ended his absolute power quite some time ago. So you see, I can't see the point in dwelling on your future losses when the victors themselves lost such a short time after.
Just be glad that history looks on you fondly.

I couldn't care less if I live or die to see another era but I do for the lives of the people I love.
However, as bushi and First Captain, I know my life will come to an end sooner or later. ( if what nakajima says about his death is true. his greatest fear is becoming useless to his teacher and mentor, to his troop and to the shinsengumi. ) If times change, future generations will have the last say in our actions. Everyone must know how the Shinsengumi is proud to carry out their truth.

However, I think I've said well enough about your immediate future. Honestly, history is all very interesting to me, but it's also irrelevant. For those of us living in the present, we're far more concerned with what our futures hold than what our predecessor's futures might have held.
But, if you'd like to hear more about modern day Tokyo, I'm more than happy to oblige your request. It's really the least I could do for the captain of the Shinsengumi.

What's done is done. What we do from now on, what we did, is open to everyone's interpretation. ( wondering if scholars know about him killing former friends and allies like serizawa and yamanami. odd how despite killing as many bushi, future generations regard him with fond eyes unlike kyoto citizens in his time. ) As long as Kondō-sensei and Hijikata-san are remembered too, I don't mind my name written in books.
How much has Japan changed? With the opening of its borders and gaijin influence?
no subject
As for opening the borders... As I said, Japan has become a popular tourist destination, and yes, there has been quite a bit of influence from the outside for it. I'd argue, though, that the opposite has been just as true. For as geographically small our island nation is, our cultural impact has been felt in all corners of the globe.

How odd for gaijin liking what we have in our country. What is they're most interested in?
