You know, for all that "it was a dark and stormy night" is a hackneyed cliché, I have to admit that I really can't think of a more apt way of describing the state of affairs outside. There's already water collecting in the streets; I imagine it won't be long before the roads and walkways are covered over. And from the sound of it, this storm is going to get worse before it gets better.
Squalls like this weren't altogether uncommon in the place I consider to be my native land; it was a wild place where raw power governed, so it only seems natural that it would have weather to match. I can't deny that even now, I still find a certain raw beauty in the fury of it all. But all the same, these sorts of storms are not to be trifled with, or taken lightly — and they're far better experienced from beneath the shelter of a sturdy roof and solid walls.
If you're not already prepared to weather a deluge, I would recommend remedying that quickly. There's something that feels oddly vicious about this particular tempest, and I won't be at all surprised if trying to brave it becomes hazardous sooner rather than later.

That will definitely be needed.
A bit of a time skip here ..
Does this rain feel different to you?
Heavier?

I've not been out in it. What do you mean, heavier?
Switching to private -
[ he is the darkness, Kurama! He doesn’t need fussing or watching over. Not even when he’s noticing his low spirit energy finally and stopping for a breather in any little cavern he can find.
He does have the sense of mind to switch things to private from here, though. Just in case.
Though what he offers is more cryptic than helpful. ]
It’s stopped evaporating off of me, now.

[But that's...something, isn't it, and when he thinks about it for a minute, it occurs to him to reach and try and sense how close Hiei might be, if he's expending energy like that...
And naturally, he doesn't like what he discovers.]
I can't sense you. Are you hiding yourself?

I’ve tried it before, here, and it didn’t drain me nearly as quickly as now.
I should really get a water proof outer layer.
[ avoiding has always been a good sign from Hiei, hasn’t it? ]

I am currently under shelter.
Just not with you, which I suspect is why you're griping.
[ Yes, keep harassing your partner to put off the part where he starts worrying, Hiei. It'll totally get you places for a long time.
.... Maybe. ]

I'm tired, Kurama. Spare me for a moment.
You'll be able to smother me soon enough.

[And for a few minutes, he doesn't say anything else, having disappeared from the conversation to go, evidently, check on something.
But a few minutes later, he returns, and a video feed snaps on to reveal Kurama, standing at the open window, holding a rose in his hand with a dark expression on his face. With a flick of his wrist and a flare of his energy, he turns it into a blade not unlike the one he'd used years back, and pushes the leafy flat of it out into the storm.
What happens is not unlike when he'd tried to summon a rose whip against Karasu, back when the fight and the transformations had sapped him of his energy reserves. The rain hits the leaf, and it explodes into a burst of petals as all the energy leaves it at once, leaving a broken stem left remaining in Kurama's hand.
Grimly, he turns back to the camera, still holding the shattered husk of a weapon in his hand.]
You said it was draining you. I think this proves why.

[ Hiei doesn't question Kurama being gone for some length of time. Hard to pay attention to how long it's been since your last text message when you're trying to nap to recover some energy.
The shame is that he wakes up even more tired to watch Kurama's video, watching it with a frown. So that explains it. Now to figure out how the hell to solve it, and get back dry without there being too much fuss about it. He doesn't want this to become another episode of 'hot'....
Though let's face it, it's kind of already become one. ]
Well, at least I'm not imagining it.
I'm moving to my next dry spot. I've spotted one. This may be how I'm going to have to finish out the journey.

Stay where you are.
I'll be back soon enough.
[ This is an absolute lie and Hiei kind of knows it, but he's never failed at being too damn confident, either, so there's always that. ]

Leave one more than you think will be necessary ..
I think my hair may have more water in it than we anticipate.
