You know, for all that "it was a dark and stormy night" is a hackneyed cliché, I have to admit that I really can't think of a more apt way of describing the state of affairs outside. There's already water collecting in the streets; I imagine it won't be long before the roads and walkways are covered over. And from the sound of it, this storm is going to get worse before it gets better.

Squalls like this weren't altogether uncommon in the place I consider to be my native land; it was a wild place where raw power governed, so it only seems natural that it would have weather to match. I can't deny that even now, I still find a certain raw beauty in the fury of it all. But all the same, these sorts of storms are not to be trifled with, or taken lightly — and they're far better experienced from beneath the shelter of a sturdy roof and solid walls.

If you're not already prepared to weather a deluge, I would recommend remedying that quickly. There's something that feels oddly vicious about this particular tempest, and I won't be at all surprised if trying to brave it becomes hazardous sooner rather than later.

Fascinating. Or if not to ward off the trouble, to take precedence with their own variety of it.

What other such calamities have occurred?

There was a flood, a blizzard coupled with extreme cold, a kidnapping spree where people were turned into living puppets/dolls and controlled by the kidnapper, a murder cult that's shown up a couple of times, the city has been attacked more than once, there was an underground fighting ring with performance enhancing drugs that turn people into mindless berserker beasts if they take enough of it, there was a phone app that would trap people and suck in their bodies and a lake that showed you people from your memories to lure you in, and on an early expedition to Amegahara, we encountered Hideula.

Each one of these things happened during the same time span, although I suppose the doll kidnappings began earlier and just escalated during that time.

With a track record like that, I'm surprised anyone ever does anything during this vulnerable time period, besides perhaps battening down the hatches.

Well, it is the time when nobody is under the influence of the moons, so I suppose people choose to take their chances and enjoy life as much as they can.

I have learned to wear more sensible clothing during that time, though. Battling in heels and a formal dress is less than ideal.

I would imagine so. I can't say that I've ever tried in heels myself, but there's as much strategy in what a fighter wears as in any other aspect of their battle plan.

I thought they might be useful for stabbing opponents with kicks, but I realized it's easier to just carry a blade.
