[ thunder crashes. the wind howls. a blond youth wearing an enormous cable-knit sweater over a dress shirt with the collar popped places his palms flat on the counter of a starter-apartment kitchen and earnestly addresses the camera. ]
Hello! The current circumstances are less than ideal, but I can put this off no longer.
Whether you know me or not, I am Titus Alexius, formerly of the Reim empire. It is more or less accurate to say that I am sixteen years old. I have been conducting research with the Lunar Scientia for the past several months, and I have also had more than I can stand of living alone. Therefore, I have prepared a simple twenty-question survey!
Anyone and everyone is welcome to submit a response, and there is no need to answer every question. But to show my appreciation, I shall provide all those who complete at least the identifying information with a code redeemable for one free empanada from the stall by the fountain at the northern end of Greatmoon Groves. [ he pauses thoughtfully and then leans in further. ]
...And if you do not care for empanadas, let me know and I will arrange an alternative.
...Also, I am reasonably certain everything in that marketplace is currently closed due to the inclement weather and invisible tentacle attacks. And a number of the survey questions, too, posit situations or activities that are momentarily, if not impossible, then inadvisable. But, well. We must believe these hardships will be temporary, mustn't we?... [ he shrugs helplessly and grimaces! ]
Thank you for your attention!
[ and underneath the prismagram video is the survey in question, along with a few additional links. ]

I cannot relate in the slightest to what you are saying about eating. But I shall try to respect your feelings on the matter...
Have you ever eaten something you enjoyed, or has it never been more than a chore?
no subject
... I have eaten things that I have liked. However, to know that this life will not last forever, I would rather not have any regrets.
no subject
Or something like that.
And
If you don't mind, please explain how having regrets and knowing this life will not last forever relate to eating good food...
no subject
( hmhmhm. )
Simple. I do not want to regret not having a favorite last meal when I am inevitably greeted by the void. What we do here is ephemeral, imaginary and leaves no impact on what we do when we return to wherever we truly belong. And where I belong is that void, an emptiness and silence that will be comforting... it is what I deserve.
I would miss my tea, though.
no subject
I would personally like that, but I have no plans to push the issue.
I too have noticed that this world and our experiences in it seem to be incapable of having any impact on the worlds we left...
But I do not think it follows that it is "imaginary."
...Besides, if it is truly all that ephemeral and imaginary, then can you not simply regret it as much as you like regardless of how many delicious things you did or didn't eat?
(Silence and emptiness aren't all that comforting, in my experience. But perhaps I didn't deserve it quite enough.)
no subject
( he would eventually agree. )
If I am somehow fortunate it enough to be sent to the ending I deserve, then there will be no need to regret anything. However, I have been sent into exactly one other world before, and I feel that my future will contain more experiences that I do not want or need.
Regardless. I will entertain your whims as long as it does not interfere with my job or my research.
You may touch my ears only upon request.
no subject
I still cannot really understand how intentionally not eating delicious food is going to make anything easier for you in the future, but I respect your decision. If I ever cook for you, I will try to make sure it is not all that good
What are you researching? (Also, you may touch my ears whenever you wish!)
no subject
I was a pharmacist.
Whatever you make for me, I just ask that it is simple. Nothing elegant or fancy.
And my current interests are in botany, specifically in the creation and growth of plants. Mostly so I can fill my cafe with flowers of varying colors and sizes and shapes...
no subject
That is a new one to me. But I shall remember
Do you still work as a pharmacist? (A pharmaceutical cafe?)
Then you are in luck. I don't know how to make elegant or fancy things to begin with!
Oh! Are you willing to use magic in that research, or are you hoping to keep it, you know, "organic"
Because I can use eighth-type rukh to make plants grow for you, if you like.
no subject
( his magic is better. )
I have been using magic in order to shape the plants in the way that I like, in the colors that I like.
...
Eighth-type rukh. I believe you have explained what that is once, but please do it again.
no subject
no subject
I am curious. Where does raising the dead come into play within your system?
no subject
Such a thing is not possible, as far as I am aware.
But if something like that is ever discovered, it will certainly be an application of eighth-type rukh.
By the way, what do you think about living together in a home with me, and also Monsieur Serge Battour? He is a very kind and charming young man of Sanguis persuasion, whose circumstances as a (less favored?) member of his own world's aristocracy are quite complicated. In this theoretical arrangement, I imagine you would have your own bedroom! (Though, if you decide you are fine with bed sharing after all, perhaps I would join you there at times)
no subject
Serge Battour... I have never heard of such a man. However, if you believe that he would fit well, then I will not say no--- especially if I do have my own room.
And I suppose you can join me. Either of you can. I cannot reject or refuse a chance to Moonlace. It would be stupid of me to do so.
no subject
How generous you are!! You know, if you got a big enough bed, both of us could even join you at once!!
(Though, in fact, Serge has not yet actually given a definitive answer about whether he's willing to share beds...
But I shall pass on your kind offer, regardless!)
no subject
( at least, he assumes. )
If I do stumble across a particular bed that would fit all of us... yes. Perhaps. Maybe. Possibly.
no subject
We can go furniture shopping together!!
Or separately.
But in any case
What fun! It will be just like camping, probably!
[ the two parts of this conversation are equally weighty ]
no subject
( a beat, then: )
Like camping... I doubt it. But if you wish for my presence, I will be happy to join you. I have some experience in evaluating pieces of furniture.
no subject
I don't know whether I am disappointed or relieved.
...
What is the purpose of doing this?
I will rely on your critical eye as I choose my own bed, too! And we will need common room furniture, a dining table and chairs... end tables... wardrobes and things, I suppose...
Oh, and a big couch!
Of course, we should finalize the house itself first
no subject
And yes. It would be wise to not go beyond the first step. As excited as you sound, and that it is interesting to see such enthusiasm, the house comes first.
I trust you will find something that is suitable?
no subject
I suppose that, if put to it
I can think of a few possible applications.
But I wondered what your own purpose was.
I will!
But do you not want to be personally involved in selecting the house?
no subject
But do not be alarmed. I do not plan on killing anyone in our future home. I will ask that you send me pictures so that I can see what we may be sharing...
And then when the time is right, I will join you for a personal viewing, if need be.
no subject
[ anyway he does all that, with the photo sending and invitation to a final viewing.]
no subject
( he hasn't killed anyone here. not yet. there might be time for it though. )
