☽ I: video
[The video flicks on to reveal a figure silhouettes against the red moon glowing full overhead behind them. It looks like Vanitas has somehow gotten onto the roof of somewhere and is perched very precariously on the edge, his hair ruffled. For as dim as his face is in the darkness it's clear that he's grinning widely, his teeth looking almost suspiciously sharp and his blue eyes glowing with what seems to be red.]
Hello, fellow Moonblessed! To those of you who I haven't met yet, my name is Vanitas.
[Briefly the video becomes a blur as he spins to face the moon, gesturing to it broadly as the red glow washes over him.] Where I come from this sort of red moon usually heralds the birth of beings known as vampires. But it's a shame that such doesn't seem to be the case here, you know?
[He laughs, the sound just a bit manic.] You might be wondering why... It's simple- I'm a doctor to vampires, and without any patients it's just impossible for me to do my job! And I'm a very busy man, you know... So I'd like to make an offer to all of you!
If there are any vampires here, I want you to let me test something on you! If you're inhuman but not a vampire I suppose I could still try it on you, really... So what do all of you say?

[He looks towards the moon for a few moments before he tilts his head, frowning.]
So should I just hunt them instead?

[She rubs her cheek, squinting at him.]
What brought this on so... aggressively?

[Vanitas just laughs for a few long moments before grinning again. Already his canine teeth are suspiciously sharp for a human's, but now that difference is even more evident as he smirks almost maniacally at the video.]
It's just what I said- I need to do my job! I don't have time to waste around here twiddling my thumbs!

[Yeah, he just snorted.]
I want to test whether something works on vampires not belonging to my world.

[It's fine, she knows plenty of rude people.]
Now, is this 'something' that can benefit any patients? If it doesn't work, is there a chance it will hurt them? People need details to make decisions about their bodies when it comes to strange men posing in the moonlight and claiming medical proficiency.

[He tilts his head before smiling, although it's just a bit too sharp.] Well that's hard for me to know without trying! Back home I could hypothetically use it to harm or help, but I only use it for the latter. When using it on someone not from my world there's no definitive way to know the results until I do it.

[And the Moon Cell recorded it all...]
How does it help? Does it make the hunger fade, or give them more energy? Your would-be patients need to weigh the risks against the reward.
[No wonder he's the only vampire doctor in his world. He has no idea how to give a sales pitch, from what she can see.]

[Especially since there isn't exactly anything else that can be developed further about the Book. It works how it works and there's not exactly anyone in his world who would be eager to duplicate it.]
It cures their curses. We talked about this, remember? I want to see if the malnomen exist across the universe! [He spreads his hands wide.]

[And now that explanation is on the prismanet forever.]
I'd recommend "I need volunteers to test my cursebreaking ability on" as your leading line on this.

[Even though it definitely is and he's the type to complain about having to repeat himself.]
And I'm not going to go back and change it, that's a pain. [he also. Doesn't know how.]

[No skin off her nose if you don't...]
For instance, now I know I'm a poor fit for a volunteer, since I'm not cursed.
