☽ I: video

[The video flicks on to reveal a figure silhouettes against the red moon glowing full overhead behind them. It looks like Vanitas has somehow gotten onto the roof of somewhere and is perched very precariously on the edge, his hair ruffled. For as dim as his face is in the darkness it's clear that he's grinning widely, his teeth looking almost suspiciously sharp and his blue eyes glowing with what seems to be red.]

Hello, fellow Moonblessed! To those of you who I haven't met yet, my name is Vanitas.

[Briefly the video becomes a blur as he spins to face the moon, gesturing to it broadly as the red glow washes over him.] Where I come from this sort of red moon usually heralds the birth of beings known as vampires. But it's a shame that such doesn't seem to be the case here, you know?

[He laughs, the sound just a bit manic.] You might be wondering why... It's simple- I'm a doctor to vampires, and without any patients it's just impossible for me to do my job! And I'm a very busy man, you know... So I'd like to make an offer to all of you!

If there are any vampires here, I want you to let me test something on you! If you're inhuman but not a vampire I suppose I could still try it on you, really... So what do all of you say?

Pretty sure that violates the Hippocratic oath, so... no?

[She rubs her cheek, squinting at him.]

What brought this on so... aggressively?

Usually it's patients in desperate need of a doctor, not the other way around. Is there something you get from vampires other than money?
sealeted: (is the view)

I'm considering volunteering, but I need more information.
sealeted: (then ask you to stand)

No, again, it's... it's what you're going to do, that's important. People won't blindly say yes to vague demands, even if they're made in good faith.
sealeted: (you can see)

There we go! That's progress.

[It's fine, she knows plenty of rude people.]

Now, is this 'something' that can benefit any patients? If it doesn't work, is there a chance it will hurt them? People need details to make decisions about their bodies when it comes to strange men posing in the moonlight and claiming medical proficiency.

Not as obviously as you might hope. Plenty of doctors all across human history have committed atrocities in the name of progress, rather than actually help their patients.

[And the Moon Cell recorded it all...]

How does it help? Does it make the hunger fade, or give them more energy? Your would-be patients need to weigh the risks against the reward.

[No wonder he's the only vampire doctor in his world. He has no idea how to give a sales pitch, from what she can see.]

I do remember. But not everyone has had our mid-dance conversations, right?

[And now that explanation is on the prismanet forever.]

I'd recommend "I need volunteers to test my cursebreaking ability on" as your leading line on this.

Bring it up when people start asking questions then. If you really want volunteers, anyways.

[No skin off her nose if you don't...]

For instance, now I know I'm a poor fit for a volunteer, since I'm not cursed.

I know how to dispel malevolent attacks from Casters and viruses, so... yeah, probably not.
