☽ I: video
[The video flicks on to reveal a figure silhouettes against the red moon glowing full overhead behind them. It looks like Vanitas has somehow gotten onto the roof of somewhere and is perched very precariously on the edge, his hair ruffled. For as dim as his face is in the darkness it's clear that he's grinning widely, his teeth looking almost suspiciously sharp and his blue eyes glowing with what seems to be red.]
Hello, fellow Moonblessed! To those of you who I haven't met yet, my name is Vanitas.
[Briefly the video becomes a blur as he spins to face the moon, gesturing to it broadly as the red glow washes over him.] Where I come from this sort of red moon usually heralds the birth of beings known as vampires. But it's a shame that such doesn't seem to be the case here, you know?
[He laughs, the sound just a bit manic.] You might be wondering why... It's simple- I'm a doctor to vampires, and without any patients it's just impossible for me to do my job! And I'm a very busy man, you know... So I'd like to make an offer to all of you!
If there are any vampires here, I want you to let me test something on you! If you're inhuman but not a vampire I suppose I could still try it on you, really... So what do all of you say?

You should feel somewhat special. Not every day I let someone lead me around.

Should I? Hmm... [He tilts his head in mock-thoughtfullness, tapping at his chin with nails that are suspiciously pointed, even through his gloves. Then he shrugs dismissively.]
Sorry, I can't bring myself to feel special about some brat stalking me. It's just not what I'm into, you know?

[ Just saying. ]
You see my name is also Vanitas.

Vanitas snorts.]
Really now. So you want to fight me for the name or something?

[ He holds out his hand, calling Void Gear to him. ]
I want to fight just to fight.

He pulls out his daggers, grinning widely again.]
I just hope you won't make it boring for me.

[ He's starting right off the bat with a Dark Thundaga. Whether or not it hits its intended target doesn't matter. Mostly the magic is meant to serve as a means of distraction so that Vanitas can charge it with a swing of his keyblade. ]

He crosses his daggers in front of himself, trying to catch and parry the strike.]
You know, just before coming here I was fighting a kid like you. If I insult you a little will you get all teary-eyed and frustrated for me like he did?
no subject
Cry? Me? Not a chance!
[ Because sure, maybe the other Vanitas can block his blow. Sometimes that first hit or even the full combination of blows don't need to connect. It's what comes next, the magic finisher, that usually throws people off. Right at the end of Vanitas' strike, he's casting a Blizzaga.
Unlike some of the other keyblade wielders here, this is where his strength lies: the ability to weave physical and magical attacks together. ]

He tries to shake it off, still grinning even if he's at a clear disadvantage. It's highly unlikely that the Book will work in this scenario, meaning he'll have to think of this opponent like a Chasseur with magic... An irritating combination that only makes him want to win even more.]
Cute trick, kid. [He does his best to straighten up, raising his daggers again. He just needs to goad him into coming closer again.]
Did your mom teach that to you?
no subject
I'd need a mother first.
[ Oh he won't be goaded with words like that. However Vanitas is drawing closer. It's just he approaches the other with carefully timed steps. ]
Are you going to come at me or are you too scared?

[Says a guy who has done just that on multiple occasions.]
But fine, let's make this fun! [With another grin he abruptly charges back in, trying to slice at Vanitas with one dagger as a feint as he flicks a switch in the other. A wire shoots out of the base to wrap around the other's ankle before he yanks his blade upwards, trying to trip him up.]
