I know there used to be a port used for freight, but has been out of use following an enemy attack. So, out of curiosity how many of you are sailors?
[A pause as she thinks for a moment before continuing.]
To add to the question, how many of you have explored this world's seas and what could you tell me of what's outside the city. I've been meaning to travel this world's oceans but have also been told that traveling too far from the city tends to drain Chroma as you move away from it.
[Being on dry land has made her feel a bit antsy at not having to put out to sea for a good long while. Not that she had any problem living on land. More that she was a ship first and foremost. To be away from the salty water simply didn't feel right to her. She wanted to feel the breeze and ocean spray against her and listen to roar and crash of the waves as she passed through the water or flew high above.]
For those who are not sailors and have never been aboard a vessel...would any of you like to be?
[The last part was more or less an after thought. Enty hadn't really been thinking anyone here would actually have any interest in sailing; let alone the ocean. In either case she was in a good mood, if not somewhat bored (she might blame it on being bored).]

Fighting monsters off a ship's deck tends to do that, I guess.

That said, protecting a ship is part of a sailor's duties.

[Lord knows that was something she knew all too well herself.]
But would you like to give sailing a try without having to worry about protecting anyone?
no subject
Might as well. Can't hurt to learn more about it, never know when I might end up needing it.

It's been a long time since he's sailed seriously, but the sea will always be his one, true love. ]
On my world, my country is famous for inventing the caravel. It allowed us to explore not only coastlines, but also the ocean. Unfortunately, we had to give all of that up many centuries ago because of wars, economic troubles, and other problems...

honestly the original bracket text made me laugh, no worries
In fact, I remember sailing on that very first caravel. And it was terrifying because there was so much that we didn't know back then. [ It's okay to say that he's near-immortal here, right? That doesn't seem terribly unusual for a Moonblessed. Besides, he wants to gush about memories of his golden age for a bit. ]
But the fear's part of the fun of sailing, too. The whole point is to unmask the unknown, right?
<3
Mm, sailing helps to fight against the unknown and brings it into light.

Hey, now. [ Okay, okay. So maybe he's a little insulted and he's pouting oh-so-slightly. ] Without those tack and sheet ships, the sailing advancements we know today wouldn't have been possible.
I can't say I'd prefer them today if I had a choice, though. The comforts of modern sailing technology really are amazing!
no subject
Hm? I didn't say anything against. But yes, more modern vessels are quite amazing in their own right. I was interested in looking at this world's ships as well.

I think the recent floodings have everyone on edge, so sailing's a hot topic right now. [ Not that he minds. It gives him a reason to keep checking Prismagram. ] But it sounds like you're asking out of genuine interest.
Do you plan to travel alone?
no subject
It would make sense that the flood has caused many to be anxious about the water.
[Cue thoughts of her sisters sinking into the cold, ocean depths.]
But yes, I had been planning on going alone. However, that seems to be ill advised, at least for distant trips.

[Oryou says this with no small amount of pride in her voice, but...]
She prefers to fly, but ships are good too.

[Does she mean the Sakura navy? Best not tell her that she helped to dismantle said navy.
Enterprise vs. Japan. That is, if the woman would even care at all. Most she's met so far are either from parallel worlds or places that simply have never heard of her or her sisters. ]Mm, flying is quite nice, but sailing on the ocean can be just as nice. I'm guessing you have some experience with ships then.
no subject
[The first navy in Japan, a trading and shipping company founded in 1865. So probably not the navy Enterprise fought against, but its spiritual predecessor.]
Oryou helped him inspect the ships for toughness.
no subject
[Nope, definitely not the navy she's familiar with! Though she is familiar with the name itself, its mention makes her think the woman was either from another time or another world, or both as seems to be the case here and there.]
Ship maintenance and inspection is quite an important and difficult job. It's also a very useful skill to have for sailing and owning a vessel.

Ah, and did they?
no subject
[It's bad business to break all of your ships.]

[I mean, lets face it, using your dragon wife's strength to test a ship isn't the best way to go about things...right?]
